When exactly did coach stop making their bags in NYC? I want to say mid 80's,but I'm just not certain though

According to @Hyacinth Salearea Guide on Coach Creeds:

"In 1988 the MADE IN USA statement began to be used at the bottom of the creed stamp (Coaches made in 1987 or before would have said "Made in New York City USA"). "

And:

"From what we've learned in the last 5 years since the Salearea Guides were first posted, this seems to be the best current timeline of the serial number changes:

The Made In USA and Made In The United States creeds combined with the all-numeric xxx-xxxx serial numbers started in early 1988, although a few stray NYC creeds have been found in 1988 bags too."

We suspect that factory code A meant NYC and we've seen A factory codes occasionally from 1996 and maybe even later. However, since they are so few, it could be a mistake or made during training.

Oh my it looks perfectly in mint condition! [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7] Great find! Congrats!! Your GW is a treasure chest!

The suede is so beautiful and clean inside I almost don't want to wash it. It is like it sat in some old ladies closet for the last 30 years or something.

I often think I should try and stay away from that Goodwill but then I realise I would miss treasures like this!

Definitely a treasure trove you have there!

I've found bags that are clean and soft like that, that just needed reshaping. Rather than dunking, I've put towels in the dryer to warm them, then stuffed them in the bag. Put some conditioner on the bag and let it stand for several hours; repeat as many times as you want. The longer it stands with the warm towels inside, the better. I've left bags like that for days, and it seems to revive the shape.

I gave into temptation and dunked it since I was washing few other bags. Actually I want it to stiffen up a bit because it's just so soft, as Ramblers always are. I just gave it a quick wash in woollite and didn't bother scrubbing it over with dawn or something like I usually like to.

My problem with Ramblers is now that I have too many! I now have black, british tan (destroyed), mocha, putty and red! And I had space for 3 but now I have these 2 new ones I haven't figured out where to put them.

What a wonderful problem!

That's a nice "problem" to have! I know the feeling. I'm constantly culling my collection to make room for just one more bag I can't live without. Case in point: this Sheridan Elliot that arrived today. I thought I was going to rehab and rehome her, but she is such a beauty, I might have to make room for her in the Coach closet.

Oh yes that one is really cute! I have a few Sheridans and I really love them. I don't have that one though. I wouldn't want to part with that either. I am also always working on one in, one out but I am not always successful.
