OMG, I saw u ask for an authentication and saw it was sold. I was going to insert you post here and ask if you pulled yhe trigger:happydance:
Congrats on a gorgeous red Berkeley flap. Fraternal twins, I have it in mocha brown.
Thank you! Seeing pictures of your mocha brown Berkeley flap bag is the reason I've been on the hunt for one. I think I got it for a reasonable price, considering it was red. I'm so happy to be in the club. I really like this collection and would like to add a backpack to my personal collection.

I have a weird question for you ladies, is a coach Chester in black a desirable hard to find style. The reason I ask is cause I just bought a rehab lot from ebay and the next day I get a random message the seller is switching out one of the bags (the chester) for a vintage black willis. Her reasoning was the inside was gross. Well she literally messaged me and didn't wait for a reply and sent the bags. It's a rehab lot so expected the bags to be in poor shape. What do you guys think?
That doesn't seem legitamate for her do that without your agreement. But I don' t have any experience with this. I am sure others will offer advice. It makes me jump to a conclsion , but that is beside the point.

The seller should have waited for your approval before making the switch.

Both the Chester and the Willis are desirable styles. Willises are much much easier to find than Chesters, but a nicely turned out vintage black Willis in good condition could easily be worth as much or more than a black Chester with "issues." Only you could have decided between the two after seeing them in person and assessing the rehab challenges of each.

Personally I think a Willis is worth more than a Chester. It is a more usable size. However, you don't see Chesters as often.

What a shady move from the seller. I wouldn't buy anything from her after that.

hi
I am now stepping into the vintage club. I've never bought a second hand bag before I always buy brand new from boutiques. I just noticed some style are timeless and the highest leather quality only can be found in vintage coach bags. It's like starting another type of adventure.:happydance:
I agree. For a long time, I wasn't into Coach as I equated the brand with only the signature bags and I prefer leather. But, I found a legacy Janice at Goodwill and the leather was so nice. I am now hooked on the vintage bags :)

Almost all of my NYC bags that have handles (musette, school bags, portfolio, etc) have silver toned hardware around the handle. The rest of the hardware is brass except the square pieces that attach the handle- they are silver toned. Is this normal? I thought all of the hardware was supposed to be solid brass? I also noticed the same thing on my slim pouches from 1978. The metal loops on the back don't seem to be brass either.
Hi, I was waiting to see if someone replied to your question here because I was curious too. I don't have any of those NYC's. I do have an Open Market Tote that does have brass D-rings for the the long straps. Why don't you ask over on AT? Those ladies are the real vintage Coach know it alls.
