I thought the price was excessive too even with paperwork. I have a soft spot for Basic Bags but they are definitely basic and I could find one in excellent condition for a fraction of the price. I would love to find one in Putty.

Agreed on both counts. If you can be patient and have time to look through listings, I have seen red Basic bags in equal condition or better on eBay for under $100.

My first Coach bags were basic bags I bought new in the early 80s. I still have them, in navy and tabac. I think they cost $60-65 back then, which would be about $150 in today's money. These are too small for me for daily use. I didn't have a phone back then (6splus) or reading glasses.

The first Coach bag I ever saw was in the early '80s. My older sister bought it with gift money and it was a clutch with a wrist strap. I was not impressed, lol. My, my, how my tastes have changed. Last year I bought a lot of a two basic bags, one red, one blue. The red came out nice, the blue is a little rougher, I have to figure out where it is! The Basic is too small for every day. The red one has an anchor strap. I love that touch.

I understand completely! :biggrin:I bought this bag in BT in August and am in the midst of rehabbing. It needs an app of O's Oil currently. It was an impulse buy. But the more I handled it, I noticed the leather was quite buttery, like my Monterey Hobo. Once I dunked it and it took its shape, I fell completely in luuvvv. Will post before and afters when it is done!

Well, it's mine now! Not sure if it will need much rehabbing. Not sure if it was a good price, but the funds went to an animal rescue, so I didn't really care. Will post more when it arrives!

Oh! Do you think letter sized file folders will fit in it? The measurements say so, but one can never be certain..
