I love the look of small/mini bags, but you’re absolutely right — not very practical for everyday life. I usually find myself annoyed trying to fit my bare necessities (phone, wallet, keys, chapstick) into smaller bags…. But gosh they can look so cute or chic with an outfit.

Maybe that price seems reasonable for others, but I dont think I could make myself spend $900 on a vintage Coach that has a non-original strap and the mis-matched hardware colors. That would drive me insane. I would rather hold onto my $900, keep saving, and wait to put it toward a better listing
I carried smaller bags for years--a Casino was my favorite--till the need for reading glasses came along. Added a cellphone and had to switch to larger bags (love my Lunchbox 9991) to accommodate.

A few months back, I fell for an apple green Winnie on Shopgoodwill. It went for well over $300--not to me--despite having many lip gloss and ink stains. Yikes! I caught myself on this "bargain," knowing how tough those are to remove. It was so adorable/impractical, and I loved the color too. Sigh.

I am never in the right place at the right time. This has never been more true than now, as I recover from Covid once again. This week, though, it happened. I received a bag that actually took my breath away. I took a chance on a poorly listed duffle and got one that was never carried. I will post photos tomorrow as it is dark here now--tropical storm Ophelia is having her way with the SE PA area. I'm just so darned happy. Tune in tomorrow.

So while Ophelia is still here, there is more light than yesterday. When I showed this bag to my husband, who is very patient with me and my bags, he immediately said, "That's a brand new bag!" It has three things I've never had before. First, look at the grommets. I've never seen grommets that shiny on a vintage bag. Second, the name of the department store sewn into the bag. I've seen that on other bags posted by other collectors luckier than I am. Third, the bag of little booklets. How cute are they?! The color has me very curious. I don't think this pre-1994 could be one of the yellows Coach produced. The little booklet mentions that Coach has been making bags for more than 15 years--that makes me wonder if this could be Saddle. I know color is subjective, just putting out that question. So here is my brand new, never used pre-1994 duffle. Since the listing had no photos of the creed, and the seller couldn't send any, I waited nervously until its arrival to see this genuine, pristine beauty. I'm still in the looking-at-it stage. Hoping to carry once the monsoon ends.648A1559-3649-4F35-BEDE-D8168D083D93.jpegCFCF021C-8671-496D-B97B-FF25A4A7341A.jpeg6E835E67-59ED-481D-A6DE-EF39B6553FCE.jpeg950DFC19-AEDA-4C62-B6B7-5448FB7C4BA1.jpeg648A1559-3649-4F35-BEDE-D8168D083D93.jpeg

Beautiful! A person has to wonder: why did they keep it and protect it all the years and never use it? I think it could be the mentality of "I'm saving it for special." I've been a victim of that thinking a lot of times. But, no! We shouldn't save our beautiful things "for special" occasions that never come, we should use them, enjoy them, and use them some more. I have some vintage teacups I inherited from my grandmother that I never touch. I think my morning coffee will be in one of those! :)

It's so funny to me to read this. First, the seller told me that this is exactly what her mother would do--buy something lovely and put it away to save it for a special occasion. My mother would do this, too. And I inherited that point of view from her. I have so many things that I kept because I like to have them or I like to look at them. Overcoming that is a big deal as I know my kids don't want those things that I've saved. I've been selling like crazy to get out of that mindset. Use the teacups and think of your grandmother while you do.

ETA: This bag was bought by the seller's mother.

I don't see any problems.

A dakota lariat bag was just authenticated in the authenticate thread. And then, browsing around (as I like to do), I found another. If someone wants it, looks to be a good price. $50. Not my listing! Nor has it been authenticated (yet). https://www.ebay.com/itm/175852894041 This has been a public sevice announcement!

Well, I shared this last night thinking I was being nice. Then, this am, my brain was like: get it, get it, get it. :) If it's still available. It's rare. So I bought this myself. I'm sure BB, et al. wants to authenticate another one. However, I'll wait until I get it to have a good creed photo.

Can anyone help me identify this bag? It's at an estate sale that is opening tomorrow. It appears to match the brown one at the link below but they don't have a name listed.

Not an expert here, but found another called "Saddle Bag Small Ruff Out 9208 1970s." Here's a link to that one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/137983...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details

Anyone have advice for downsizing a vintage collection? I have too many bags taking up space that I just don't carry. I have some Bonnie Cashin and pre-creed or otherwise hard-to-find or special bags that I don't want to part with, but I'm not sure how to weed through the rest.

For example, I have a Post Pouch that is so small that I barely use it, but the idea of selling it pains me. On the other hand, I'm selling off my dinky bags. How do you decide what makes the cut and what goes?
