I have a question about the vintage Standard Courier Bag 8920. I've seen several catalog descriptions of the bag that reference an inside zipper pocket, but my pre-creed courier has an inner slip pocket - no zipper.

I have checked ebay and found some 8920 bags with creeds that really do have an inner zipper pocket. Do you think that the reason my bag has a slip pocket is because it is pre-creed and older, or maybe it's not the 8920 bag but a different version of the courier?

I found this pre-creed Courier on Poshmark and it also has a slip pocket: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintag...eather-Style-No-8920-6274466c3a0db981c88e3db4

Yes, it is because it is pre-creed. It's true for the larger size courier as well.

I'm guessing the pre-creed version would be considered a "Chunky Shoulder". This isn't the best photo, but hopefully it helps... looks like the style number is the same, and the pamphlet is dated Fall 1973.

Thank you, I like the name Courier better than Chunky Shoulder Bag!

I just checked the digital Cashin Archives at the UCLA Library and I couldn't find the classic coach courier bag, but I did a search on the work "chunky" and Bonnie Cashin used that term a lot in her sketches "chunky skirt, chunky muffler, chunky sweater, chunky little bag" etc.

I see now… I misread/misunderstood with the post on the bag style
Yeah…I definitely was not expecting those reactions, I never spoke on the style…

I'm still a bit confused, the picture didn't look like a spectator bag with contrasting trim to me - and it didn't look like the solid color bag with the spectator name either - but no big deal.

i was just going by what the seller said…I didn’t really see it either, my original post was just asking if anyone had it so I could see it in natural lighting

Does anyone know if the leather on Bonnie Cashin for Meyers bags are similar to vintage Coach leather? Are they dunkable? I’m considering getting one but on the fence.

I was curious about this exact issue a few years ago. The leather is not of Coach quality. It's thinner and more lightweight. From what I've seen, people charge for those bags as if they were Coach. I've never had one in person but I would get one at a reasonable, below Coach's, price. I don't know which bag you're considering but I've seen a few kiss lock duffles on eBay and Etsy for quite hefty price tags. Bags of lesser quality are definitely not worth that type of money. I wish I could be of more help but I know the quality is not the same. (Sorry if this is a bit disjointed. Just spent the day pursuing my 19 month old granddaughter. We call it babysitting)

Just wanted to tag on here - the leather on the meyers bags is nowhere near the quality of coach. I saw a few meyers bags back in the days before everyone knew who Bonnie Cashin was and they were very thin and iffy quality leathers. They also seemed to age much worse than any coach bags I ever saw. I passed on them back when they were cheap. I do like the styles, but I wouldn't buy due to the quality.

I think someone has rehabbed a meyer bag, they may have dunked it? You could do a search on it here.
