Wow! The book says the photo is a close up of a Bucked Pouch, for a 1972 Neiman Marcus catalog. The bottom of the page indicates it was offered in white, navy or red. 9" long, 6 1/2" tall, 4" deep. And get this, $30.
This is exciting!
1972 sounds about right since mine has a metal tag. I paid $50 on ebay but I suspect I could sell it for much more. Mine is about 9 inches long and 4 inches deep, just like that one. If you measure on the inside, it is only 6 1/2 inches tall. If the bag isn't full, the flap hangs down lower than the bag so I thought it was taller. With the flap and the bag stuffed, it is about 7 1/2 inches tall, but the bottom of the flap hits at the bottom of the bag. It is so similar that it makes me wonder if mine was a prototype or the sold product looked more like mine than the catalog picture. I wonder if they may have decided to shorten the flap so the tab wouldn't hang so low. Or...they may have it overstuffed. Look at how high the top of the flap is compared to the the strap. Now I wonder how I can fill it when I carry it so it looks like this.

I can't decide if it is navy or black. It looks navy on the inside. I carry it occasionally. I love this kind of strap "attachment" but I worry it is going to fall apart someday.View attachment 5370825
Wow! It wouldn’t surprise me if Coach was revamping and tweaking styles season to season. Maybe they changed details on the dimensions so they could offer their department store clients “exclusives” …
I would love a bag with that style strap. So glad I decided to share a random pic!

I'm really glad you decided to share the picture too!
One of my biggest regrets is that I got rid of my 9710 sling bag, but I should console myself that my bag is really similar.

I have a recent bag with a similar strap construction, the 2014 whiplash Dakota. Some people complained that the construction made the bag susceptible to breaking on the edges of the strap where it joined the bag. Mine is still great, and one of my favorite bags.

A real HG would be the small bag that has the Courier-style tabs on both sides with the open section in between! With that style strap iirc.
I agree, you could get quite a bit for it. I’ll post better pics of that page for you to save for provenance in case you sell it.

I wonder if that would happen to the Ergo.....

I don't think so. The leather on the vintage ergos is stiffer and thicker and also not as wide at the base as on my bag. The piping covers a good portion of the strap. I imagine it is similar on the newer Ergo. The strap on my vintage bag is 2 1/2 inches wide at the base. On my Dakotah, the strap is about 2 inches wide at the base and doesn't have piping.

Last Christmas a bag friend from here gifted me a beautiful BT Logan bag (again thank you so much!), it was in excellent condition and barely used so I didn’t dunk. Today figured maybe a dunk to fresh up can help with deep CPR conditioning, pleasantly surprised to find this McDonald’s’s Monopoly free cheeseburger coupon Expired on 7/14/95. The bag has pre 1994 registration number.
I washed the coupon too, it will go back inside the bag after conditioning. Lol
ETA: judging by the condition of bag and coupon, the bag was only used around 1995 then stored for the next 2 decades.

Does anyone own the Berkely bag? Ive been thinking about it for sometime now. I love the style and the look of it and can see myself enjoying the bag but the only concern of my is the size and the strap length. Ive looked at few listings online but there arent much info on it and also there isnt much in the market right now. Id appreciate some reviews about and would love to see photos and mod shots Thank you so very much in advance!
