Are you looking for vintage only? Coach has a Willis 18 that’s an updated version of the Winnie (although it won’t be full grain leather).
I have one Willis 18 as compared to five Winnies. And while dimensions are similar, the 18 will hold less than the older Winnie. That’s because the leather is more pliable on the Winnie bag than the newer equivalent. I’ve found that to be true with the vintage Willis compared to the 1941 Willis. Winnie is small to begin with!

It is crazy that prices have gotten so high. They only made Winnie one year 1997 so less supply vs. demand has driven the price up. I wonder what a restored Winnie would be listed for on the Coach site if ever they actually found one!

I actually dread to think that...stoned I would imagine.

Interesting! I was planning on getting a black Willis 18 for my birthday (when the retail site has it’s next sale). Might need to pop into the store to make sure my stuff fits lol. The ones currently on the site don’t seem to have the fabric lining like the previous ones, that might help with capacity a bit.

eta: since I’ve been so outspoken about it, I still don’t like new coach that much. The only reason I want a Willis 18 is because I don’t wanna pay an outrageous price for a black Winnie.

Yes, you should check in person. The 18 is very firm. I got one just to have it and it’s cute but I don’t think it will get used. But I’ve only used my red Winnie a few times and the other colors not at all.

I compared both bags with the exact same wallet (there are two colors but they are the same wallet). See how the 18 has a little pleat in the side and the side has a triangular shape? And the leather isn’t as pliable as the Winnie. I can’t close the Willis 18 with the same wallet as the Winnie without causing distortion.

Here are comparison shots from different angles as well as shots with the wallets inside plus side views of bags with wallets inside. Now when I carry these, I don’t use these larger wallets. This was just to illustrate same object and fit in each bag for comparison purposes.

Thanks for the comps! :)
