For me, it depends on the style of the bag. If it’s a bag that I want structure in, I don’t go for Costa Rican leather. I got a Costa Rican Willis and I’m not wild about how floppy it is. But I love my Costa Rican 9136 Legacy Hobos (I have red and mahogany) and my slim duffle.

I have a Mexican rambler’s legacy, which is amazing because it’s soft and molds to my hip well but isn’t too floppy. Then I have a Mexico and a US Prairie and I prefer the stiffness of the US bag in that style.

I have an older US duffle sac and a newer one, but I like the floppiness of the older duffle sac (4-digit, 3-digit creed number) over the newer, more stiff one from ‘94. I like my Dinky’s stiff, so the older the better. And my NYC Rambler is perfect how stiff it is, I wouldn’t want it to be floppy.

There’s a lot that goes into choosing a bag imo!
I love Coach bags from 90’s that made in Mexico, mine the leather is so supple and silky.

Great points! Now I have another question. We all know that to make a stiff bag softer we condition and buff lots, but what if we want to make a floppy bag stiffer. What do we do?
I have left Dinky’s without many coats of conditioner, no chamberlain’s balm, and just a thin coat of Blackrocks (rather than BR and Renapur) and they’re stiff and light. Compared to my Carnival bag that I loaded up with conditioner and balm and both top waxes. The Carnival is squishable and the Dinky’s are more like a lightweight leather box with a strap. I think the Dinky’s show wear on the corners and new scratches are more prominent, compared to a light finger rub on the carnival redistributes things and they disappear.

ETA also if you leave a bag to dry entirely before applying CPR, it stays more stiff because the conditioner doesn’t penetrate as well.

I know I sound like a right donut, but why don’t you do that anymore? I need to stop too then :noworry:
Lol because I used to mistake dye for dirty water. My first rehabs were black bags. So many ppl would post the color has returned to the corners and mine wouldn't. I finally realized I need to stop washing away the color. I don't go over 30 min anymore if I can help it.

The buckles, they’re so bright …
You have this in navy/blavy and black too, right? :hbeat:

The black one was actually my first commission, Lake. It was the first Valentine's Day gift from a lovely widowed friend of mine to his new bride! (It is quite an extraordinary, "senior" love story)! I helped her choose the perfect large bag for her needs, sourced it and restored it. She is a photographer/artist/designer and uses it daily!

Yes, I set a timer for 15 min each side.
