Oh wow! How was the condition of the kit?I saw that on eBay too. That's listed as 1959. I was able to find the Vagabond utility kit.

Puzzling. It's not as soft and squeezable as in the photo. I think it's been painted because it's very shiny.Oh wow! How was the condition of the kit?
Be careful with those. There are some fakes with G plant code.
Exactly. Almost every plant code Coach has ever used has also shown up in fakes, including quite a few that were never used in handbags at all but were Coach's internal production codes for plants making things like keychains, shoes, scarves, clothing, etc. Every Coach plant or leased facility had its own plant code. For instance the "J" plant code with US or Portugal creeds should only be found in clothing items made in the mid-1990s. It was only used in genuine handbags after it was reassigned to a China plant in or around 1999. "D6J-" is a known always fake prefix when it's found in any handbag, and the bag will usually say it was made in the USA.
There were at least half a dozen codes that were what I call "Floaters". They were mostly from G to M and were assigned as needed to temporary plants only in use for a few weeks or months, or independent plants where Coach had simply leased a part of their production facilities. They could and often were used for more than one country so they shouldn't even be given any country designation otherwise someone might think that if that particular code is with a creed that says it's from a different country, someone might think that second bag is fake.
Sometimes a floater code could be used for more than one country in the same MONTH. For instance in 1995 the M code bounced back and forth like a tennis ball between the US and Costa Rica, and in March ("C" month code") the M plant code was used for BOTH plants in the same month. The same thing happened with the M plant code in April of 1997.
To muddy the waters even more, a surprising number of serial numbers in bags from the mid to late 1990s had the 3 digits of the serial prefix scrambled, and sometimes it can take a while to even figure out which is the month code and which is the plant code. One or two people who call themselves "experts" and even "authenticators" STILL haven't figured that out.
Those are just some of the many reasons why I don't make lists of countries and codes. And that's why the only way to be sure they're correct is to compare them with known genuine bags made in the same plant, month and year. Another problem is that some people who don't understand the system just assume that if it has the "right" plant code, it must be genuine, and that definitely is NOT always correct. They look for short cuts, but there aren't any. Or as any hobbit would tell you, "Short cuts make long delays".
Most plant codes will be in bags that show the country of origin right in the creed stamp anyway.
I also have an L plant code made in USAIf I remember correctly, I had a bag authenticated by the authenticators here and it was a Made in the United States bag with a L plant code. I'll try to find the post and post it here.
thank you so much. The kindness of everyone here taking the time to share their information is amazing. I think I was being too ambitious to try for the exact year but I would love to find something from the 60s.
It's probably in my warehouse.Im a 90’s baby. Im still waiting for the day I find a bag where the creed shows the exact month & year I was born. I did a google search once but there were barely any active listings...lol![]()
Makes you want to cry, doesn't it?![]()
Still a great price for those exotic leathers! If it makes you feel any better, Adjusted for inflation, $10 in 1958 is the equivalent of $90 in 2021(usd)

My oldest son is a 90s baby, and I'm always looking out for bags with the same month & year. All my browsing and I haven't seen one yet! That's about the only year from the late 90s I haven't had.
I'm a late 70s baby, so I consider the glued in creed era about as close as I can get to my age. All three of my basic bags are from that time frame.
