There was a lot I spent money on and came to regret, but my trips were kicked off that list when taking more got complicated. So glad I took them now! I stick with good hotels in good areas, which costs more, but it makes me feel safer. I also tried to limit going too far after dark which is problematic places where dinner is late, but I tend to graze while roaming around and aside from breakfast don’t do set meals when I travel.

Because we’re talking travel, how open are stores on Sundays in Canada? It always shocks me (and most Americans based on what I’ve overheard while abroad) that Europe is shuttered on Sundays. Here it’s all open except Chick-fil-a. When I was a kind things had limited hours on Sundays, but it gradually changed to being another Saturday lol.
I remember learning to drive in the mall parking lot on Sundays because all the stores were closed. I also remember a trip we took to Utah. We arrived on a Sunday and couldn't find a restaurant open. Now most things are open every day. There is a health food store in town that isn't open on weekends at all. I thought that was weird. There is also a restaurant that is open on Sundays but closed on Saturdays. It isn't for religious reasons; the owner just wanted to spend Saturdays with his family.

I agree, travelling is expensive but those memories will last a lifetime so I think you made the right decision. I have a list of places I wanna cross off before settling down somewhere permanently. Lmao, everything is open on Sundays in Canada as well! I even see mail trucks delivering packages on Sundays haha

I want to visit Santorini, Venice, Capri, Amalfi (again) and see the tulips in Holland. And there is this place in Arkansas where you can hunt for diamond That I want to go to sometime, fully knowing I won’t find a thing.

I tell people that about traveling alone, but they never believe me.
I like travelling alone too. I can plan the day exactly how I want & just go do it. It’s fun travelling with other people as well, but Im able to do so much more when Im alone. My friends & family keep pressuring me to date because they say it’ll be better if I have a partner instead. They’re under the impression that young women travelling alone = automatic kidnapping. :annoyed:

eta: not that it even matters, pandemic killed my travel plans last year & for the foreseeable future lol
I get lost in the Denver Airport when I go to visit my sister so maybe traveling solo isn't for me. I'd go on a cruise by myself though.

I get lost easily as well- especially when Im driving, lmao. As long as you plan out exactly where you’re going in advance, you’ll be fine. Especially if you have your phone on you with google maps!!

One of the best trips was when we went sapphire mining in Montana. We got several small sapphires and one ruby. I had them made into a bracelet but it was stolen when we moved.

I get lost very easily too. I took a few cruises by myself. They set me up with a roommate. I met a lot of people that I became good friends with.

I have no sense of direction. I wish google maps would tell me in advance which lane I should be in, so it doesn't tell me to turn left in 1/4 mile when I'm in the right lane.

They do that now! Its called “lane guidance” & it’ll tell you well in advance what lane you need to be in. I would google how to turn it on, I think mine was just pre-set to it!

eta: apple maps has it as well, just checked

A cruise of the Mediterranean was my first solo trip. Not originally planned as such but it worked out and was a great experience
I have never been on a trip by myself, but it sounds so amazing! I love my kids, but "vacation" with them is not a true vacation. It doesn't help their dad is like a 6'3" 250 lbs kid.

All this talk about sitting a table by yourselves reading a book....lol, maybe someday. I can't even begin to imagine a week by myself with no schedules and no requests, oh my. I can't even go to the bathroom by myself

Now that my daydreaming is over...my original reason for visiting this thread was actually about bags!

Can anyone tell me if the 9059 Legacy Small hobo ever came in black with nickel hardware, or in the dark grey with gold hardware? Mine was dark grey(from 2000) and had nickel hardware. Searches are bringing up listings that say grey with gold hardware, wondering if these are actually faded black and will not be grey after a dunk. I also see listings that say black with nickel hardware, but wondering if those are actually dark grey. I want grey with nickel, so want to be sure before I find another one. Hoping one of you fine people with many catalogs can help me out. TIA

Alot of stores in Quebec, mainly malls, close early on the weekends, 17h00, except for Thursday and Friday open until 21h00. Groceries are open alot more, some even 24 h but were ordered closed on Sundays in the very beginning of the pandemic.
