I sold my city a long time ago too. I believe I felt it was too small but now I carry even smaller bags so it could work. But there might have been an additional reason I sold it that I can't remember. I think it didn't wow me. The stewardess has a more comfortable strap but I think it is rather short. I sold that one too. I think I didn't like the chunky look. I prefer the streamlined look of the Ranch bag but it doesn't have as comfortable of a strap.

Yea, the city bag is very “plain” for lack of a better word (not a bad thing). If I come across one for a good price, I think it’s worth a try again. Maybe you should try it again as well? I bet you can find them cheaper on US Poshmark compared to Ebay
Maybe dab hot glue in the ball and chain? That way it’s semi permanent. I don’t know haha
Well that didn’t take very long...I just bought one. Hoping it’s a keeper the second time around, lol.
I was tempted by that jade one but it was too expensive for an experiment.
One option for the permanent type of straps is to carefully open the strap ring where the gap is using pliers and a cloth, slide the strap off, close up the gap and attach the guitar strap with dog leash clip. 
I got plain black because I can sell it quick if I don’t like it. Although I kinda messed up because it showed that there were no duties when I was sending the seller an offer but then when she accepted the duties popped up. $92 experimental bag!
Interestingly enough, I recall my taupe Patti weighed less than yours. I just found my black Patti. I will have to weigh it.
What about just a slip on shoulder pad?

Over the past 2 years I have definitely pared down what I carry in general and on a work day. I was finally able to make the break from a checkbook style wallet to a much smaller one (I am eyeing up the small Tabby wallet as we speak). I generally would not be carrying the Patti for hours on end. But with a pared down wallet, I might. I don't think I have carried it in the last year. I have been working through my small bags. And I always seem to cycle around to my tabac City or BT Olviver.
I usually opt for the City or the Oliver if I know I will be out for hours on end. I do better with the thin strap crossbody. I found a non-vintage I like for travel, I think it's called the Ashley Hobo.

I ended up going with the city but Im still tempted to buy the Patty anyways & see how it is in person. I do the best with backpacks but I don’t like wearing them. I find the thicker legacy straps help a lot but there are some styles (casino, pocket purse, basic bag etc.) that I refuse to stop using lol. Thanks for your input!

Besides the weight, one thing I don't like about Patty is the zipper. Even if you leave it open, it scrapes your hand when you reach inside. I think it is an extra that just doesn't need to be there. How about a classic pouch? It is like a Patty without the zipper so it is lighter weight and has a wider strap, but I don't think it is long enough for crossbody.I ended up going with the city but Im still tempted to buy the Patty anyways & see how it is in person.
