For all the Patricia owners: is it really THAT heavy? I want one but Im worried about the weight. Can it be comfortably carried for a few hours or do you start to feel the effects of the weight right away?

Eta: debating between the city, Patricia or stewardess as my next bag purchase.
Theres the weights of a patty in the comparison thread that I did not so long ago

The Stewardess is heavy and kind of bulky, but mine was an NYC one that wouldn’t crossbody. I prefer the smaller United Airlines version.

For some reason I can't believe you don't already have a City. I know they seem to be a dime a dozen, but it is such a good bag. Out of all the bags I own, it probably scores the most points in the conveniency category. It's a good size, it has that large outer pocket, not heavy at all. I don't have a Patricia or Stewardess, but I do recommend buying a city. I found mine for $20. I see them at low prices all the time. I want a BT one and a red one.

I used to have a city! I went through a phase of small bags & got rid of it. It made sense at the time because I only carried a few small things. Then I realized that no one could see inside my bag & I could just put a scarf at the bottom to add volume & use bigger bags even though I didn’t have a lot of stuff, lol. I remember it was a nice bag when I had it though. Good thing about the city is, as you said, they are a dime a dozen so I can wait it out until I get one for a good price! :)

I have all three. I can weigh them on my food scale tonight if you like  The Patti has the extra weight of the zipper and chunky buckles. I always liked the style so it didn’t bother me.

Thanks guys! I saw the weight of the Patty already. Im curious as to how long it can be carried before you really feel it in the shoulder & neck. For example, my Pocket Purse, after about 6 hours, will give me a headache so I know to switch shoulders around the 4 hour mark. Can the patty be carried for 2-3 hours or is that pushing it?

Lol, I just looked up the UA version, 1 listing that ships to me for $450 cad...Im gonna have to find one of those listings where the seller hasn’t done any research & the title is generic, haha

The strap width could be the issue on Pocket Purse causing a headache. Wider is usually better for me.

Yea, I really need to get a guitar strap. I haven’t found one I like enough to buy though. Im hoping coach will release some this year that match the vintage bags well.
I usually take and annual trip to Disney World in Florida around the occasional international trip and made the big mistake of trying out a ”park bag” with too narrow of a strap. I put less in it that the bag I typically used, but it just killed my shoulder and neck.

You can't change out the strap on a city unless you are willing to cut it off. I wish more of my vintage bags had removable clip on straps so I could substitute a guitar strap.

I too end up taking the key rings off of fobs. I love the look of many fobs, but have come to the conclusion that many made on the past few years, which are adorable, were made in mind perhaps for large bags like the Rogue.
Some of them are really heavy. I have been in outlets over the past few years and would get really excited to see a nice display of fobs. Only to pick them up and be disappointed at how heavy they were. I like bags that are heavy enough. I do like that I can buy hang tags in a variety of colors though.
A lot of the newer ones aren't very detailed either. That is why most of my fobs are older. The older fobs were mostly smaller and lighter in weight.

JMHO.... Everyone has their favourites and their reasons for their favourites. I love the city, I have a few and think they have such a nice shape but she doesn't work for me for a long periods of time. I think it is because of the narrow strap. My Patricia gets used (well used to get used) during my trips to the states. I think she has a good size when you need extra things for travelling. However, she is heavy! I think someone (Narnanz?) weighed and, if I remember correctly, about 1.5 kgs! Almost 3 pounds!!! I think the wide strap helps distribute the weight on your shoulder. I never carried any of my Stewardess, I should really give it a try. My absolute all time favourite for all day outings when walking around for hours at a time is the Rambler's Legacy, although it is on the smaller side. The wide strap in relation to her size really makes her super comfortable. There is another one, the Fletcher, which is almost kinda like a smaller Patricia, having the flap and the front slip pocket. The zipper is nylon and the bottom is oval kind of shaped. I carried a Fletcher for awhile and it is light and the strap is not wide but not narrow either.

Hm, the problem with selling a bag so long ago is I can’t remember if there was any other reason for getting rid of my city other than the size. Im gonna hold off on the Stewardess for now so it’s between the Patty & city. The weight of the patty is the only thing putting me off, I really like how it looks though!

The Watson is my only bag with those square d-rings & it was quite the challenge to fold the strap into the bag for storage without just cramming it in, lol. Ive been spoiled by removable straps!

I think it was just over a Kg...so it converted to 2.64 pounds
