Cousins! Two riding/saddle bags showing the difference between black and gray.

I'm curious about the vintage purses with actual buckle closures.

Do you re-buckle everytime you have to go into the purse, or just let it hang open.

I love the look of this bag (I don't know the name, but found these from searching for vintage buckle flap), but have stayed away because of the buckle. I think, how am I going to re-buckle this one-handed while pushing a shopping cart, for example.

Did women in the 70s/80s have more dexterity and could maneuver buckles like this one handed?

On the one on the left, the black one, I tend to undo the buckle once, and leave it unbuckled until I'm sure that I'm done getting in it for awhile before I buckle it again. It has a small piece that I can slip the unbuckled strap through that somewhat keeps it closed but it is not secure at all. Actually there's two, one near the buckle as well. The gray one actually has a magnet closure underneath so the strap doesn't unbuckle at all. Because of this, I prefer the gray over the black. Though it also weighs on my mind when feeling around for the proper spot because I figure it could be scratching the metal to rub the two pieces around trying to close it but oh well.

With the $600 a week? I hope so. It seems like a lucrative deal for the unemployed and I do mean that in a good way. Anything to reduce worry and stress is a positive thing.
Yes. Thankfully because I went since March 18 with no paycheck and so we had a lot of bills to catch up on. With the $600 it comes out a bit better than what I make so it's helpful. Finally got the unemployment this week. While I wait to go back to work I'm also looking for alternatives to my job just in case my employer doesn't end up reopening.

Thank you so much! You are so sweet. It's hard not to worry. I can't get my brain to understand that worrying doesn't help anything and it isn't going to save my job or not save my job. It's just wasted energy and lost sleep. I hope you survive this round of layoffs but if you don't...if WE don't...I've heard that the extra stimulus money is a real thing. That takes some of the worry away about income but not health insurance. Both of my next door neighbors got laid off and they are each now making more money than me by staying home and not working! They are buying big TVs (yes, plural!) new furniture, new electronics. This is kind of like a lottery win for them. They have no desire to go back to work. So maybe it's not that bad?

I haven't gotten my stimulus yet but I finally did get the unemployment started.

I feel you ladies. I have been off for almost 8 weeks now and I will be off until at least middle/end of June. I'm a hairstylist and can not go back to work until our county enters the "green phase" of reopening. I had SO many kinks getting unemployment started and trying to get through to ask questions was damn near impossible. Stimulus hasn't arrived yet but mine basically went back to the government to cover income tax
The additional 600 FINALLY is coming in thankfully on opposite weeks that Unemployment is. I am making slightly more on unemployment with the extra 600...but man oh man am I ready to get back to work. I'm trying to get inexpensive projects to keep my mind busy because I only have so many mannequin heads to experiment on. And once that hair is cut off, it is OFF.
If you ever need to chat/someone to commiserate with you - message me!
Sending you both hugs (from a socially safe distance:lol:)

It has been so stressful, hasn't it? I'm assistant manager at a locally owned small movie theater. I'm still not sure if we even will be able to reopen. The boss is thinking end of June.

I work for a small business too. My boss said any bit she saved is now spent and she can't collect unemployment. My friends all own small businesses as well. I'm trying to help them out when and where I can because most of them are sole female proprietor operations.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
