When my neice was the same age she had a fish that died and they flushed it. When my ex-fiance died, I was holding my niece as we viewed him in his casket and I said to her, "He's in heaven now, just like your fish." She said to me "No he's not! My fish is in the toilet, not heaven."
Can't imagine what you have gone through MB. But the way you wrote this story, there is sorrowful beauty in it.

I felt that way when I started! I paid around $70 for my currant Gramercy Small Top Handle and thought that was the most I would ever pay for a bag. But I recently paid over $200 each for 2 bags: my small Courier and blue Winnie. I do stay under $20 (not including shipping) for the majority of my purses, but found I will go higher for anything made in Italy or Costa Rica and even higher for my HG bags.
Yes I have recently realized that about 4 of my earliest purchases were not the best purchases. But I got them for under $50 shipped each, so I did stay under budget. But the black Station is lackluster and will need to be replaced, the BT Regina has two small pen marks right on the front and I am having to paint over them and it is not working very well, that one could probably be replaced, we'll see. The BT Daypack is wrinkly everywhere but the flap and straps, so it isn't a uniform pleasing visual that I want to see when I look at it. And my effort to get a glued-in reg red bag for a makeup bag turned into a huge kerfuffle because number one it wasn't even big enough for what I needed and it is heavier than I expected, and number two, I bought one with no hang tag - and my mild OCD like mind couldn't rest without finding a proper era tag that was a perfect shade match. So that resulted in about 3 more red bag purchases that I didn't even really want just to swap around hang tags, and now I have a red rehab that I am having to dye black in order to keep it. Not to mention the Wooster that I was not really happy with the rehab results. I admit, those last two were both bought knowing the rehabs might not work. So, ya I need to up my budget probably and, honestly, on the bags that I paid more for, like in the $60 to $70 range, I am really happy with the condition on those. They are not that brand spanking new, out of the box sheen and shape, but there are no flaws.

I always feel better if I know that one of us purchased a bag that I was wavering on...knowing that it will be loved or at least nicely rehabbed for their future owner if it doesn’t work out for them. It’s also nice to celebrate with each other when we find a HG bag. I’ll post before and after pics—going to dunk it this mid morning.
I agree! And especially the Post Pouch since I am so partial to it! If someone else is as excited as I was to get one, and at a good price, that makes me so excited all over again!

On a side note, I think I might like my Winnie even more than my Post Pouch, which surprised me because I didn't even want a Winnie. But I got one for $35 so I could not pass it up. But it has the trifecta of features that I think make an attractive bag - half size front flap, top handle, turnlock extended flap and of course, crossbody, so a...quadfecta I guess. The only drawback is it is a tad small. So if it were a tiny bit bigger it would be the perfect bag.

I’m glad you decided to keep the Winnie :) I remember when you were deciding whether you needed both that and the post pouch.

Yup I went back and forth while I was waiting for authentication. The posters here were very encouraging, so that helped push me in the right direction. You pointed out that I might one day feel square versus round and I didn't really take that statement seriously until the other day when I was looking them over, and found myself thinking "no I think the square would be a good contrast to the circle pattern on that dress I have in the closet."

I have delved a little deeper into myUS. The lovely ladies in AT authenticated two Dinkies for me yesterday and the one I'd prefer doesn't ship to Germany. MyUS offers different plans, one of them is free but doesn't include package consolidation. I chose the premium trial with plans to cancel within the first 30 days.
However, I've since found out that the service is useless to me since I'm your typical backwoods European who doesn't have a credit card. I pay everything on Ebay through PayPal (linked directly to my bank acct) and cannot add a US shipping address to my German PP account.
The seller would lose their seller protection if they shipped to an address that isn't linked to my PayPal. So... I guess I'm gonna cancel it a lot sooner than I had planned, lol. Maybe the Dinky seller changes her mind, but I doubt it.
Does anyone know why certain sellers would avoid shipping internationally? I don't see the big deal, but maybe I'm missing something.

ETA: I canceled it, the process was easy peasy.
I only ship internationally through the ebay global shipping program. It isn't the cheapest for buyers but offers the most protection for sellers. International shipping is very expensive, and if the package gets lost or damaged, I could be out a lot of money. With the global shipping program, I only have to get the package to the shipping center and after that the shipping center takes the risk. Even if there are cheaper shipping alternatives, paypal requires sellers to use priority mail to get seller protection. With the items I sell, the shipping could cost more than the bag. It just isn't worth it to me to take the risk. Some countries have very unreliable postal services.
So a tale of seller woe. I sell occasionally on eBay and usually 99% of my bags go at a loss. Finally I sold a bag and made a nice profit. The buyer buys it on Sunday, pack it up, puts it out for mailman on Monday, mailman picks it up, great! Well buyer sends me a message yesterday, the label was printed but thats it. I look at tracking and it hasn't been scanned at all, its like its still sitting at my house! Since Monday! Its now Thursday! So now I have to try and find out where it is. That is all. Yay selling.
I hate it when my carrier doesn't scan my outgoing packages. For awhile, I was calling my post office to complain. Now my carrier will scan if I set up the pick up through the USPS pick up system, but if I just put it in my mailbox, he doesn't. I had a package I sent get scanned on pickup then it sat in a distribution center for 2 weeks! I kept offering to refund the buyer but she wanted to wait. I called my post office a bunch of times. One time the person at the post office sent an email to someone at the distribution center. I don't know if that helped, but a few days later, the package started moving again.

I sold a little belt on sunday and sent it monday tracked mail. According to tracking it's not moved from my home town...no updates. Contacted my buyer and said if it doesnt arrive today Sat I will be ringing NZ post to find out where it is. They have had increased volume of packages due to NZ going from Level 4 to Level 3 but with the tracking not showing movement I thinking its still at the bottom of a bag somewhere.

I watched the mailman, on my outside camera, just pickup the packages and take them to the truck. So they weren't scanned at all. Now it must be sitting somewhere. Boo hiss. I'm just hoping it gets scanned somewhere.

Every day my Posh Regina doesn’t ship I kick myself for not buying the one on eBay that is now gone.

In other news my stay at home was extended to June 4. I posted my feelings on it earlier and one of my “friends” felt the need to “educate” me on her views and correct something I didn’t say. She is the type who just keeps posting and arguing in some delusion that she is going to change your mind or keep others from believing your lies or stupidity I suppose. I finally had to tell her that while I liked her, I didn’t understand her pushing and that I was as unlikely to change my stance as she. Not like I said the Earth was flat or told someone to drink bleach, I just see all the data not the one slice she looks at
