What an epic saga, and with such a satisfying ending as well! That bag clearly wanted to be with you, even if it took some detours.
I can 100% relate to Harry Potter being excellent for a little escapism to quench anxiety. I'm currently re-reading all the books and it does wonders for my lockdown tolerance.
Yes, it makes the bag a little more sentimental. A little more to love about it.

Escapism is a great way to describe movies during these troubling times! I've watched all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones 3 times already so I was so excited when I got my hands on a boxed set of Harry Potter. I've never seen The Hobbit series, either. Maybe that's next.

Yes this was a fun read and epic journey. An experience like that would certainly teach a lesson. I completely understood as you went along because I have felt many of the same things.

I feel for you right now if it is potential job loss that is giving you anxiety. I work in oil and gas and though my company is positioned very well to weather this downturn, we are only in that position because over the past 5 years the company has made extreme cuts to capital spending in the range of almost 500 million, and I have survived four, count em, FOUR layoffs, two of which directly affected my immediate team that I work with daily, my office next door neighbors. The company announced this week more capital cuts to the tune of another 250 million so we know that layoffs could be part of it. Constant living in layoff scenarios is tiring at best. I always think this next one could be the one that gets me. Constant uncertainty around your job and work makes you unproductive and certainly keeps you awake at night. I have seen so many people I know get laid off. I've seen my boss and HR making the rounds up and down my hallway, praying I am not targeted. It is almost like those coworkers die or something, there is a level of mourning when you see their office empty and survivor's guilt is a thing, along with the stress of getting their assignments added to your own full workload. Our execs are taking a large paycut this year and our annual bonuses will be drastically cut. We don't know what benefit losses we might endure, but it is all to save our coworkers' jobs so there is no ill will toward any of these decisions.

But yes, anxiety! I get it! I am so glad you got your holy grail! We find joy where we can and try to live in that moment! Not the negative. I was able to find my holy grail for under $100 and that was thrilling. I just want to be able to go somewhere to USE it! I am so corona'd out! I am ready for the world to get back to normal and by that I don't mean going out before the virus is under control, I just mean I want the virus to go away already!
Thank you so much! You are so sweet. It's hard not to worry. I can't get my brain to understand that worrying doesn't help anything and it isn't going to save my job or not save my job. It's just wasted energy and lost sleep. I hope you survive this round of layoffs but if you don't...if WE don't...I've heard that the extra stimulus money is a real thing. That takes some of the worry away about income but not health insurance. Both of my next door neighbors got laid off and they are each now making more money than me by staying home and not working! They are buying big TVs (yes, plural!) new furniture, new electronics. This is kind of like a lottery win for them. They have no desire to go back to work. So maybe it's not that bad?

Well we can only take one day at a time. Life can be unpredictable but we always adapt. I try to keep in mind that until I don't have a job, I still have a job. So that keeps me from worrying as much sometimes.

Here are some family photos! Eeeeeek first time sharing my whole collection!

Have you not gotten your stimulus payment yet? It is real, mine came a while ago direct deposit.

Wonderful collection! I know how you feel about the Lavender Ergo, I bought a new Ivory Wave Dreamer to wear on Easter and it hasn't had an outing yet. I have thought about taking it for quick runs to the grocery store, but that's just not right!

Hello....just wanted an opinion from those of you who have much more vintage experience than myself!!

I would love to purchase a vintage piece...possibly a zip Legacy. Is it hard to find vintage pieces in really good condition....meaning, am I going to have to just be patient and stalk EBay daily? Do you end up waiting months for your perfect item, or do good pieces get listed fairly routinely? I’m not sure I would have the patience or experience for a rehab piece, other than a thorough cleaning.

Also, for items that are in very good condition for vintage, is there a dollar amount you would never go above? ( I guess that’s probably so subjective to the piece itself, so probably a dumb question). I tried looking on “sold listings “ on eBay, but there seems to be such a wide range. Thank you for any guidance, and for pointing me in the right direction!!!

Things have been quite chatty here since yesterday!
I can't remember the name of Legacy copy. That one was super tiny. There was also this one, which I think is a decent size.
I know the Amanda, I don't recall ever seeing one of these that are a bit larger, momma like!

I know the short strap is a complaint many have about the pony, but I'm convinced it would be perfect for me. I love short crossbodies and imagine a supple, waist-hugging, non-bouncing tank of goodness. If I can convince my landlord of foregoing four months of rent, I'd like to have a Mahogany one.
I know, the strap doesn't bother me. I would shoulder carry. I know many have bemoaned the short strap of the Crescent. I have the Saddle and Berk Flap which are probably comparable. There is a print ad and brochure pic from behind a woman with the Crescent on her shoulder, describing it as body hugging. I do like that about the Saddle and imagine I would like it too if I had a Pony!

They are beautiful but why they are so expensive I don't understand. Just because one sold for $1200 does not mean they all need to priced that way. Maybe if it came with an actual pony I could see the price. Lol.
I started delving into the deep end of Vintage by the end of 2016 and I am sure within a few months, the Pony came on my radar. As I recall, several of the usual suspects on eBay/Etsy had them listed for about $600.00 Okay, got it. And, please correct me if I this doesn't seem right to anyone here, the price seemed to stay there until last spring when I noticed sacsmagnifiques/Debi the restorer was selling one for what, $1,200? Then the usual suspects started selling them for $1,000 to $1,200 and there they stay!
I am glad to see over the last year, some people have come across them in various outlets for a fraction of that price.
eta, actually, the listing I was thinking of was a bit upwards of $1,200 URL="https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/vintage-coach-photos-chat.857690/page-781#post-33113058"]Vintage Coach Photos & Chat[/URL]

We took my niece somewhere they had a unicorn. She is 5 and told me, “that’s not a unicorn, it’s just a pony with a headband.” Five!
I get it. I am convinced the four year old is running the show in the unit above me!

I've paid over $100 for vintage bags and I didn't regret it.

I try to keep my vintage buys under $100, but have gone over it 3 times: UA Stewardess bag already rehabbed, Pony bag and now the Sherbourne. I got a bit more permissive on price when I saw Kohls charging $120 for vinyl bag I don’t think Vera Wang ever touched. I am more excited when I can score them low.
There are a few bags in hindsight, I passed on for about $100 that would have been fabulous and well worth it. I have passed up not one, but two, Marketing Totes in BT that were in very very good condition for around $100. I wished I had bid a little more on a rust Crescent 6 months ago. I'll know for next time! In the meanwhile, I do enjoy the vast majority of bags I have. The ones I am ready to part with, were relatively inexpensive, and worth the price of finding out what does work or rehab well or what I don't like. One reason why I know I didn't want to pay over $50 for bags, especially early on, was I just did not know how well the style would work for me. And I just wasn't ready to buy bags just to collect.

Lol, so there is my Friday night ramble/quote-athon.

Hi and welcome. Warning, lol, I have been physically distancing and going through social withdrawl so I am on a ramble tonight!
On a regular basis, many of us toss around the question of how much do we want to pay for a bag? I had read this from a long time member here and I agree, if you do not have the drive or desire to rehab/refurbish, bags can be found in good condition, and I speak from my own experience of looking at listings on Etsy and eBay, for $100 to $150. Harder to find colors and styles will cost more. Bargains are out there, but will take a bit of time and patience. Bags are constantly being listed. There are always lots of listings for Legacy Zip. The challenge is that often sellers do not usually know the names or style number. Since bags do not always sell at the asking price or starting bid, there are bags that are available for months and months.
Do you know about the Authenticate This thread? I do not recommend buying anything with out some one here authenticating it. Counterfeits abound in online listings, in most styles from the 90s.
