Has anyone had an issue with Vestiare refusung a full refund on an item bought via professional seller? Here's whats happening to me r.n. I've purchased a Gucci bag from a pro seller. It arrived- condition was as listed. I had no complaints on. However just to be sure I wanted to authenticate myself using legitgrails. Their opinion- fake. Within 72 hours from delivery I issued a refund form and said due to a possibility of it not being real I have changed my mind and can't keep it so I'm returning it. They provided me with a prepayed label and I have sent it back to them. I was within every legal time frame of return so they can't deny that. Once the bag was delivered to them (yesterday) they informed me they will do a second check, but if the second check also states it is legit, I will have to keep it or relist it- so no 100% refund.
I have send a reply to them saying I have a right of withdrawl no matter the reason of return by the EU ecommerce law, especially the bag being sold by a professional seller- a boutique located in France. I'm in EU so is Vestiare. Their reply was no matter if the seller was professional, I can't get a refund because I returned the item under a suspicion of it being fake and if they conclude it is not- no refund. However, had I said nothing, just returned it stating I just changed my mind, they would have to refund me... What? How is this nonsence possible? Now I'm waiting for them to check it and I am almost sure they will say it's real and this battle for my refund is just starting.. Any advice, please help?!

So if you ask them, “ what if now I believe it is authentic and just want to return, will it be returned and I’m refunded?” See what responses you get, please keep us updated

Hello if anyone can help me I am experiencing a nightmare with vestiaire collective for two months now. I purchased a ring from a new seller, it was sent to vestiaire collective and authenticated they told me the sapphire had a scratch, but after I received it I took it to a jeweler they told me the sapphire was fake I contacted vestiaire collective and they told me to send the ring back to re-authenticate. After a few days they contacted me and told me they received an empty box. I asked for photos and they sent me photos but soon after I realized the photos didn’t include any of the wrapping that I had placed to secure the ring in the box. They told me that it was discarded when received and I asked to see photos of when it was received and they told me first that they cannot send photos because of employee privacy but they had already sent me photos with employees in them then they told me there was no camera in the area where they receive it before they send it to quality control. They told me to send in my ID and a handwritten letter to open a FedEx litigation claim. I sent it in and after less than two weeks they told me the claim was denied there was nothing they can do. The girl I spoke with said I could contact FedEx myself and I could file a police report to contest their decision but that it is final. I contacted the police and they told me because the item was not lost/stolen here I could not file a report here. I contacted FedEx who said I did not need to send in my ID, handwritten letter or police report and they said the box had been opened and there was never a search for the ring. After a couple weeks they contacted me and let me know the claim was approved, I finally felt relieved because I thought vestiaire collective was lying and they didn’t want to refund me for a fake ring or an employee stole it, but then FedEx told me that because the shipping label sent to me did not have declared value the amount of the claim was for 100 dollars. FedEx told me they sent this information to the company three weeks ago and that the company did not want to refund me for this reason that they did not declare value. I contacted my bank at this point and vestiaire collective banned me from my account so I have no access to their chat. I have asked for a supervisor and been in contact over email and phone with a lady in Paris who I speak with either at 12 am my time or 9 am my time and she kept repeating for two weeks that they still haven’t spoken to someone at FedEx as to why they changed their decision, ultimately I should have realized what was going on. Recently almost two months later she told me to get a letter from the jeweler that said the sapphire was inauthentic. I contacted them right away and they told me they don’t get involved and I could only receive an appraisal letter and I would have to bring the ring back in and pay 200 dollars. I told her this already and she is now still repeating in email that they have no word from FedEx now almost three weeks later, that it may be helpful to receive a letter from jeweler I told her I could not now obviously and to get a police report. Meanwhile, they contacted my bank and told them I am commuting “third party misuse and friendly fraud” and because the claim was denied by FedEx there was nothing they can do. I have sent my bank all the relevant information showing the FedEx claim was approved and any other documents I had. I am so mad at myself for purchasing from them also this is an expensive ring. I wish I read the reviews before I purchased from them this was my first purchase and I read this is common. I am only thankful this was a purchase and I didn’t send them something to sell because now I keep reading reviews many people sent them items they claim they didn’t receive or they didn’t have insurance and it was lost. Please if anyone can respond with any help this is a nightmare I hate them I hate this company they are the ones committing fraud and trying to distress peoples lives!!! I asked to speak with the owners or ceo but the supervisor in Paris said I can’t speak with them. People have contacted me regarding a class action lawsuit on Reddit I don’t know what to do at this point I think I should give up speaking with them and let my credit card handle it. Please if anyone can help this is causing me so much distress. Also I am not sure if this is relevant but I don’t have access to my vestiaire collective account but I found the seller account and noticed they changed their name which I found suspicious not sure if that matters.

Posted a few weeks back and am shocked to say American Express sided with Vestiaire. Long story short, I disputed the charge because Vestiaire wouldn't refund me for selling me a 'good condition' Hermes bag with tears in it even after second inspection. Vestiaire claimed to American Express that the item was still compliant and I lost the dispute (I've disputed it three times, not bothering with a fourth). Buyers please be careful and don't assume you have credit card protection against Vestiaire.
Omg I just posted today situation is a bit different though what happened with yours?

Hello also do you still have the purse because I sent the ring back that was then lost. If you have the purse maybe that’s why? Please let me know!

make sure your email address matches VC's email address if still doesn't work then switch to another credit card and to see if that work?
The email address is interesting! If you don't mind me asking, why would that matter?

I'm mostly confused why my card will work on every other website but not with VC specifically. My bank did watch the transaction twice while I attempted the purchase because they thought it might be an extra layer of Visa protection but they said that wasn't it either.

Thank you for your help ❤️

probably because it's the first time you were trying to make a purchase and the unmatched email address can't automatically prove you are the legit buyer. Different sites have different level of security set.

Apologies if covered before, but Vestiaire seems to have changed the policy on shipping and a post higher up seems to suggest this, does the seller now have to pay shipping if not in one of the ‘main’ EU markets? Presumably this includes insurance as well? What would be a good alternative to Vestiaire, I don’t really want to use a bricks and mortar reseller.

Just wanted to give you an update. Ofc Vestiare inspected the bag and they say it's real. Even though I bought the bag via professional seller from EU, where I'm from, and repeated several times I wanted a refund, reminding them of my rights, they still say the same- keep it or resell it under your account.
So in this case a professional seller is more protected then the buyer. Had I not been honest and just returned the bag, without saying my reasons, I would get a refund. So telling the truth is def. not the best policy with Vestiare in cases like this.
I don't even know how they are getting away with this.
Does anybody have any online legal help experts to recommend?

File a claim with your credit card company and ask for a charge back.

was the seller in EU too?

Yes, that would have been my next step, but after one more firm mail towards them, there's finally a positive outcome. I will get a full refund.

Yes the seller was in EU, same as I and Vestiare too. The fact that the refund was obligatory for me is clear as day. I don't understand why they didn't offer me that as an option in the first place immediately. Even the response they gave on trustpilot is not correct and it's there for everyone to see. In that initial conversation the only way I would get a refund was if the item, after inspection, indeed turned out to be fake or smth. The way they are missinforming customers just leads to losing them both as buyers and sellers. I will never understand how that can bring them any profit.
Anyway, if anybody will have a similar situation as I did- don't give up and call them on all your rights, specially if you are from EU. Do it promptly and follow their obligatory timeframes. I'm attaching what's important to say to them if anyone is in similar situation. Good luck to everyone.

I've sold a few bags and clothes through them, they have gotten a lot better - they used to charge the sellers all the commission (sometimes almost up to 40%) but now they have adopted the Vinted model and charge both the seller and buyer!

They haven't charged me anything except authentication so far. It is not a bad concept to charge both sides and in the end for them to get a higher commision if that would mean more transparency and better protection for both- sellers and buyers.
