Vestiaire Collective experiences?

This is probably my least favorite luxury consignment site. Sellers, as a rule, seem worse than ebay. I purchased a coat from a seller in Italy. It got to VC for authentication and they told me it was a different size than listed. Then I bought a max mara sweater from a seller in France. Again VC messages me after they receive it to say there is no brand tag to prove it is max mara. I purchased an Hermes bag from someone in Hong Kong. This one made it through VC authentication and was a beautiful bag but the seller took two weeks to even ship it to VC. I will say, despite others ' experience with their authentication process, I have only ever found it to be forthright and helpful. But aside from that, the overall site experience is pretty abysmal considering they are pitched at the luxury secondhand market.

Someone has said here before that don’t buy when there aren’t enough photos to save yourself the headaches. I’d say thar eBay is more American for lack of a better word. VC is French so they have a different way of doing things across several countries and languages. It’s like corralling a bag of cats.

The things you mentioned can easily be remedied with more photos but in this day and age a lot still don’t or they expect buyers to be psychic or something. I will say that the authenticators based out of the Hong Kong VC office is top notch, they catch a lot more than their French colleagues, or in general better skilled or trained.

Same here every time a rating survey pops up on my screen, I always rate them #2, maybe 3 if I’m feeling generous. The website and app are stuck in mid 90s with zero improvements in the last 5 years. So much more could be done especially post Tradesy acquisition. They sure know how to strike just not how to improve.

My credit card was stolen and so my bank blocked a few online purchase when they were investigating. VC closed my account when I was approaching to be an expert seller. I explained to them that my card was stolen and when I got a charge from VC they didn’t use their company name so it was mistaken that it was a fraud. I informed the bank immediately but VC didn’t take my explanation. Just closed my account. Very sad as I live in Hong Kong. We don’t have lots of this kind of platform to sell and to buy…

Looks like they don't care about you or generally speaking don't care about sellers.

I recently had an awful experience selling on Vestiaire. I have listed my first Gucci bag which was purchased by myself from Gucci directly. I barely used it and it was like new condition. No issue of any kind and when it got sold, the Vestiaire quality control report stated one side handle is not original. I posted what they claimed and my close up pictures.I even found my original purchase receipt. I never altered/repaired/replaced the pouchette. Their expert is a joke. I am furious. Even the keychain is shining….is the expert a joke? I have heard some bad stories but never imagined authentic original item would have any issue like this. Shame on Vestiaire!!!! I am furious.

I may not know much about Gucci as it's not my brand but those handles definitely look original to me.
I am shocked by this; we expect that kind of incompetence from eBay or Poshmark authenticators but I always thought VC had better people doing their authenticating.
I don't blame you for being furious!! We would all be furious over this.
It makes me wonder if they got your bag confused with another bag.. Their claim really doesn't make sense as those handles do NOT look like they were replaced. The patina, grain & what little wear there is, all match up.
It doesn't make sense..

So sorry this is happening to you..

I later discovered a lot of horrific stories. I only hope if the sale is cancelled, they will send back my bag in its original condition, without any damage or mixed with a real fake. omG. I am beyond speechless for this company…. They should call their quality control process garbage with no expert whatsoever.

I left comments on the listing page of my item. Vestiaire has the audacity to delete it every time I post. I just stated what happened and I stand by my description and authenticity and originality of my item. So ridiculous. Way to do a business Vestiaire.
I’m sorry for ur experience, have encountered similar issues as of late. I paid up the 12 euros they wanted from me to return me my authentic bag (which they claimed was fake). Praying that it doesn’t come back damaged and dinked omg. Their authenticator concluded that my bag, which. I purchased directly from the store was fake from the leather down to the dustbag (lol). Showed them the receipt, proof and they don’t care. Now my stats got penalised, out of my money and am charged 12 euros to return my item back to me. Buyer probably thinks I sell fakes now omg (my reputation)

They actually made me doubt whether the store sold me a fake by accident (but that’s not highly possible?)

A very slim chance. It could have happened if you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, as they might have accepted a return that was switched, then sold it to you. At the store for the brand, I would think they would know their product well enough for a switch to be caught. For your peace of mind, you could get an independent authentication. 99% their authenticators don't know what they are doing.

Is there any way to leave feedback for a seller on VC? I don't see feedback anywhere. What happens if a seller sells you something, never ships it, and then VC gives you your money back? They just keep on doing this?

They actually sent an email out last year saying they’ll be implementing a new rating system where stars or smth will be tagged to sellers and buyers but it never came to fruition (got swept under the carpet I think).

As for what happens to those sellers - their stats get penalised. One way to prevent that is to message the seller before making the purchase (I know, what’s the point right? But it is wad it is)

I’m so infuriated about this. Lots of back and forth with me trying to proof the authenticity (receipt, photos, credit card statement, purchase history from store) and all I got was something along the lines of “thank you for the proof of purchase. Please send money, email us and we’ll send the item back to you”.

Tone deaf much? Like shut up vestiare omg
This is why I will never sell on VC!!! So sad that Tradesy is gone.
