Very disappointing service at Hermes Manhasset

just to share...u can actually email hermes via their website under contact us, reply to feedback and tell them about your shopping experience that went bad...
hermes will get back to u shortly Yes, names should be kept confidential. Some clients of hermes are from the top-tier of society. Having their names mentioned by the SA is a big NO NO in my opinion :)

Hm, I never thought of that. I was hoping things would get better and got fed up. Worth a thought, thanks for mentioning this.

And when you find a nice SA, hang on for dear life. Whether at H or not, I try asking them about themselves. And I try to remember what they told me. I do this, whether I am at H, or if I see the valet parker. People like to be acknowledged as people, who have lives and concerns and problems and joys. I just try to remember and ask about those things. Sometimes, I bring them a little treat. I also try to remember I have a blessed life, and I am grateful for every day that my family is safe, healthy and happy.

Best entry I'd seen here.

Yeap, no worries...

i emailed Hermes about my very bad shopping experience even though its been months since the incident happened.

I feel the HQ in Paris need to know about it, else there will be others who suffer as i do ...

So, few days ago, I emailed them and Hermes took about 45 mins to reply back my email and prompt action was taken within the same day.

Oh yeah, i email them to praise a SA too...i hope he will get a bonus on xmas day :shame:

I really cannot believe my ears on this one. That I'm aware of my money is good at any store in the world. I own very expensive jewelry, much more than any of your Hermes handbags. I went to my favorite store, and the first thing the gentlemen said rudely was, "Do you own ....our Brand." I said yes, and I was having a problem with a post on the earrings. He replied, "Did you buy it here." I said no, I bought it at the highest end jewelry boutique in NYC. He nastily said, "Go back to them." Well, in the end, I got a very nice sales girl who is now one of the managers, I'm friends with the manager of the store. And I let my girl know of the rudeness I was met with and put in a complaint that I will not be spoken to like that ever. It was well noted with discounts. I started out purchasing only $25,000 worth of jewelry, it's now up to several hundred thousands dollars. I do not and will not put up with any rudeness and I let them have it. Hermes' head is going out with Porno girls, what's classy about that. And class cannot be determined with a high price. I complained about a problem with a diamond bracelet and the head Manager made sure another new one was made for me and I was gifted with a scarf. I was apologized to repeated, a memo was sent to head director that I was dissatisfied with the merchandise. Everyone from the security guard to the manager comes out to greet me. And although I am not their best customer, I'm a very good customer. The head manager wants everything just so and everyone treated respectfully. Only fools thread lightly. I always report anyone who is rude. That is no class. And I can take my money elsewhere. Chanel pulls this nonsense and now that their leather is down the drain and they can't give away their products, they are all over you. Hermes too has gone down in quality. Many of my friends said they used a certain calf leather and they no longer use it. Many Birkins look like junk! They have no structure, and after a few months look unusually used.

Never put up with anyone who is rude to you. Move on to another store, and if this is their style, you should not want to be associated with them. Hermes almost went bankrupt a few times, therefore, the nonsense that someone said they don't want people coming off the street to order is insane. How do you think they initially received their business. $1 billion dollar business in not that much in the USA, and only 20% of profits comes from handbags.

I thought women had some power ...you seem like little mice beggin for a bag. Wake up!

Interesting first post! Amazing that you found this old thread!
A lot of us were glad when it finally died!! Oh well!! :p

Welcome to tPF!

I would call directly to Paris. You can find a phone number in their web ( the one for the faubourg st. honoré) or a customer number. If you don't speak french ask for someone in english and explain your SA behaviour. I'm sure they will call her back, and maybe next time she will be nicer with you, i'm sure.
If she is not then anyway you didn't want to come back even at this point.
I would try.

Would this really work? I had quite a disenchanting experience with a particularly chilly SA at the Manhasset store, too. She was very dismissive and condescending and she almost took a sharp tone with me when I asked about a piece she didn't even know existed! How charming. I felt pressured to purchase (good thing I already knew what I wanted) and like I was just a kid wasting her time. Little does she know. I moved not very long ago and with that move went my local H store.

Between the time that I first shopped H (at the age of 15 and in France, by the way) and when my mom stopped accompanying me (read: using her CC) on every shopping trip, I was a full(-and-then-some!)-time student. I barely had time to think about getting my eyebrows done, much less which bag, bangle, or scarf I needed in my life. I feel that I've been relegated to "new customer" status all over again! I hated how I was treated when I walked into my new local Manhasset store for the first time.

Granted, I've read some pretty shocking stories on here. To the Manhasset SA's credit, I was actually allowed to try the specific scarves on my head and was invited around to "her side" (in quotations because of a quote provided by another poster) of the counter to look through the scarves in the drawers. However, when it was established that they did not have the particular color(s) that I wanted, no offer was made to call around or take my name. I didn't think anything of it at the time but now I'm looking back on it and wondering. I was certainly a new face but they didn't know my shopping history when I walked in the door and beelined to the scarves. It's not a big deal, just something I wanted to note.

Oh well. I wanted to add my particular experience to this thread. I'm hardly turned off of H indefinitely, I'm just peeved that I have to battle my way into the city or seek out the one particularly sweet SA (whose name I only vaguely recall) in order to get what I want sent to me.

PS - Are we allowed to name SAs? I would love to hear if anyone else had a similar experience with the same SA or if anyone knows the sweet one so I can ask for her in the future.

When I had bad experiences in Hermes I wrote to the head office in the UK (where I am), not to Paris.

On both occasions, I received a prompt response, via telephone and a follow-up letter, from the Manager of the store in question. They were very polite, and extremely apologetic.

To quote part of one of the letters:
"At Hermes we have always prided ourselves on giving our clients the best quality of service, however I realise in this instance we failed."

They are only human, we know it and they know it. They are bound to make mistakes, but whenever I've had an issue with something I've just brought it up in a polite manner, and it's been resolved.

At the end of the day, I still go to both of the stores in question and I still class the service as outstanding.

As someone else has already said, you can get a grumpy SA at the pharmacy if they're having an "off-day".

Even wtih the best care and attention, errors and omissions are made. This is only human, and to expect Hermes not to make errors or omissions EVER, is unfair on them.
