Venting - TERRIBLE service at Saks Fifth Ave

Unless you could set a purchase limit not just online, but also at a national level at all store locations, it seems futile to try to stop the resellers. You can easily place orders by phone and have things shipped. I spotted a certain style of shoe on eBay being sold in ALL sizes by a seller. These shoes couldn't be purchased online.

I am really not sure how they got info about my ebay account, or why they would be looking, but I am guessing since the email I have registered with them matches my ebay name??? I don't know, and they wouldn't say. I told them they must have me confused with someone else. It really makes me angry that I was shopping there for myself and they came up with this. I feel like I've been treated like a criminal. I will gladly take my money elsewhere!!!

Going further, why can't you use a different email for all your online shopping, from your ebay account? I would also get a new ebay account and a new different email associated with that account. I always use a different email account for online shopping/junk mail.

Good suggestion. Knowing how they are tracking buyers, it's a good idea to keep a buying and selling (ebay, etc.) email address separate.

I just don't understand - they need to realize that FINAL SALE (angry in all caps, lol!) gives people very limited options, especially with clothing/shoes. If they changed to their prior return policy, maybe the majority of people who aren't re-sellers, wouldn't have to resort to listing things online...

How awful for you :( I'm amazed they go to all the effort to determine if you're a reseller; doesn't even seem worth it on their part unless someone is selling tons of the same item. You do not deserve to be treated like a criminal for doing something that is 1) 100% legal, and 2) a function of their rigid return policy (or non-policy). I've come to dislike them more and more and hearing this kind of seals the deal for me.

Perhaps one of the problems is that resellers take advantage of the liberal return
policies that many of the stores have & the stores aren't taking well to all of this.
If it doesn't sell on ebay, big re-sellers feel because they spend $$$$ they can have
the upper hand with returns, IYKWIM after that 30 day period.

In any event, if you OP have a good standing with SFA, I'd be on the phone
with corporate for an explanation... Good luck in getting one...

I also agree with contacting corporate...I had a situation where a hotel incorrectly charged me and no one did anything- not managers, supervisors, etc. until I wrote to the corporate headquarters of that hotel chain in Paris. I was refunded the following week.

I am so sorry to hear this. I feel so sick how the large department company store treat people like this. Even you sell couple items on ebay that you previously buy from you doesn't make you a re-seller! I have seen a lot of re-seller and personal shopper on the internet or instagram. Those people they benefited by selling the items from the final sale, Saks should block those people and not you!

HOLY F***. Welcome to our Brave New World. Anyone want to hazzard a guess what our (fill in the blank) government's scooping up when Saks has the ability to raise a stink about a customer's separate EBAY account?

Just changing usernames/emails won't do much. Clear out your cookies, log out of ebay while shopping on Saks (& vice versa) and get a VPN service. using different browsers wouldn't hurt either.

I'm pretty sure you could sue Saks' a** off tho.

Please keep us updated!

Yup. I work in technology and this is definitely a smart suggestion- especially clearing your cookies. Saks probably works with tracking tools- they can tell your IP address, which site you came from, what you're clicking on, etc.

A VPN is also a good idea; and definitely use a different email address for each site.

This is really disturbing to me and feels like spying. I would hope it was more straightforward and they found the OP by her eBay username. Maybe they're monitoring eBay for Saks items?

I totally agree.

I really feel like they should just limit the # of orders for the same item (i.e. you buy 5 pairs of shoes in different sizes) OR get rid of final sale...if you can't return something what else can you do with it?
