What do you mean by wears better long term? I’m afraid that eventually I might see scratches since it’s black.
They are both very durable. Neither one will scratch under normal circumstances, but they both can get soap or dirt residue if you wear them 24 hours a day, so clean them periodically, and onyx can show fingerprints a bit since it is dark, but I have never noticed this on my pieces.

I was told by my SA that onyx is the most durable stone to wear out of the entire stone collection not counting the solid gold and pave of course.

Having said that, it all depends how careful you are with your jewellery.
just pick what you personally love more ,just don’t get it wet .

I own few MoP pieces for 5-6 years and they still look gorgeous and bright.

Enjoy purchase and have fun with it

Anyone here loves Bvlgari as well?
Because I am hoping for an unbiased opinion haha (I know this is a VCA thread).

I’m not really a “sentimental” person when it comes to jewelry but I’ll just use the excuse of Mother’s Day is around the corner to make a decision of a big purchase, which equates to a one way ticket to the ban island for a looooong time.

I’ve gone to B store a few times to try the Serpenti bracelet. Full pave. I’m not interested in other designs nor variations.

For VCA, the close contender (relatively close price range) is the vintage Alhambra full diamond 5 motif. As you can see, I’m eyeing on all diamonds bracelets.

Alternatively I can custom make a tennis bracelet. I’ve done some homework by speaking with a recommended jeweller. However, it also all comes down to if I want bang for my buck or I want to own something “distinctive”. I need to be careful on this as one will never be able to replace the other, if you know what I mean.

The Serpenti is very comfy to wear, and also easy on/off. Undeniably sparkly. I know the serpent context is not for everyone. Every time I wear it, I feel my whole outfit is elevated. One of my concerns is wearability (especially at my work place).

As for VCA, I have not tried it and it actually belongs to my aunt who is an avid jewelry lover. She has been keeping it unworn since her purchase from a vacation last year. I’ve seen her wearing the earrings and I think it’s so feminine and elegant. And I will pay her if I’m going for it.

I feel the VCA might be more wearable than the B piece? Or I’m totally wrong? For sure, both pieces give different vibe so it also comes down to what I am looking for. My aunt is back to my country end of May; I might visit VCA to have a try.

And I don’t plan to stack.

Any pros and cons of the VCA will be much appreciated. Thanks!

I think the Bvlgari might have more heft and presence since it's a full bracelet, as opposed to the 5 motifs which have the chain in middle.
As for a tennis bracelet those can be beautiful, just a matter of preference

@Purrsey
My 2 cents.
I would go for the Bulgari. Here’s why:
  • Custom tennis bracelet, while nice, it’s ordinary in design no matter what you do. Will not retain value like a branded piece.
  • VCA Alhambra bracelet, does not have the same presence as the Bulgari, it’s more feminine and delicate. VCA holds more value than unbranded tennis bracelet.
  • Bulgari has presence, edgy style, and as a branded piece, holds its value.
I would also make a suggestion that you look at VCA Perlee Diamond Clover or Perlee Diamond single row bracelets before you make your final decision. I own the diamond clover and love it. The single row is on my wishlist too.

What an exciting decision to make @Purrsey !

You should definitely try on the VCA if possible. With fine jewelry, I’ve found that there were some I thought I’d LOVE, but didn’t feel right in person.. and others that I gave no thought to that made my jaw drop when I tried them on.
I wouldn’t go for ‘bang for buck’ at this price point - I would get the one that you are absolutely thrilled with! But yes, branded will hold much more long term value than an unbranded tennis bracelet.

Also agree with @etoupebirkin that you should also try the clover and single row. They hold much more ‘presence’ than the 5 motif (though the 5 motif page has some serious bling too  ).

I feel like all 4 of these bracelets have such different ‘feels’ to them - see which one makes you smile ear to ear.

Congratulations. The pave Bulgari serpenti is a gorgeous bracelet. I prefer the 5 motif because it seems more casual and easy to wear (as a soft bracelet). Which works better with your whole personal style? If you want cleaner look VCA clover or single row are both beautiful. I love my single row but I also prefer less busy looks, and I also prefer less angles. So no serpenti for me. I think it totally depends on your style and what you would wear the most.

I think the Bvlgari bracelet looks stunning on you. I agree with etoupebirkin regarding the tennis bracelet. I own large diamond studs that my husband purchased for me many years ago. At the time they were really special and unique. With the advent of synthetic diamonds, diamond stud settings and tennis bracelets are not unique and as special as they once were. They are classic but easily replicated. I think intricate designer settings of diamonds will hold more value in the long run and are frankly more interesting to look at. I would try on you aunt’s bracelet and choose between the two.

I actually quite agree with this sentiment. I got 4 ctw studs earlier this year and as versatile and gorgeous as they are, I am already bored with them. I won’t stop wearing them because they go with everything but they aren’t exciting to me. Unlike 15 years ago, I much prefer diamond jewelry with a design. The trick is to find the design that fits each person’s aesthetic the most.

Totally agreed on the pave 5 motif being the easiest to wear. I own several bangle style bracelets - Cartier love, JUC, Perlee clover, but tbh I sometimes dread wearing them, but with the 5 motif I can easily throw it on and even sleep with it on and still feel very comfortable imo. Also share the same sentiment about tennis bracelets, they're nice and classic to have but I also don't reach for them often as they don't excite me. I only wear the tennis bracelets when I want to stack it with something else, rarely as a standalone piece but that's just my preference.

@Purrsey - Please do try on different pieces to see which one resonate with you the most. The Perlee clover and single row are truly beautiful so do give them a try. Please update us on what you end up getting, we always love some try-on photos too :graucho:

Appreciate all your sharing. They all make sense and helpful.

I also wonder if Alhambra especially in vintage size is too feminine for me , especially too when it is in 5 motifs. I like jewelry with some edgy feel (think Clash). But like someone said, gotta try it first. They always look so instagramable, but just might not be for me. I probably am only considering it just because my aunt has one to let go!

As for the tennis bracelet opinions, i totally get it too. It makes sense.

Yeah I’ll give a shot at VCA. I only stepped in VCA twice. Once with my DH to buy the sweet Alhambra bracelet for me and the second to collect the shortened piece haha. So many years ago.

Thank you all, I shall update.

To give another perspective, I was previously considering either the Serpenti in wg or perlee clover in wg (I have yg). I went back and forth and ended up not being about to pull trigger on either. In the end I planning on getting a tennis bracelet. More for the simplicity. I am obsessed with rings and I wear big rings a lot now and either option just felt like too much with my rings. A tennis bracelet while ‘boring’ or ‘simple’ is exactly what I need as a compliment to my ring. I understand a tennis will not have much resale value. However, a Tennis will cost fraction of either bracelet, and diamond designer pieces do not retain full value. So it might be a wash in the end. On others wearing synthetic diamonds, many also wear fake designer pieces. That won’t stop me from buying what I love or want.
If you want a statement bracelet I would get the Serpenti as it is speculation on it’s own. Just my 2 cents.

So I’m late to the party but I have to chime in as a tennis bracelet lover. Even though others finds them quite boring the right tennis bracelet adds a pop when stacking bracelets especially VCA Perlee bangles which tend to be more metal heavy. The 5 motif all diamond while very nice definitely needs another piece to balance it out because by itself it doesn’t feel that special. The bugari all diamond does have great presence but it’s off putting to me that it’s difficult to build a cohesive stack with variation around it from that one brand.
