VCA pricing team is exceptional. Monitoring a few location pricing as I travel frequently to Swiss, Europe and Asia for work.

In jan swiss prices post vat cheaper than Europe post vat. But Swiss franc since strengthen over time maybe hence the really small increase.

I was always wondering why hammered equivalents are cheaper than stones given more gold. Now they seem to correct it especially with this gold prices at play.

Damn, I was debating all week to order the sweet alhambra 6 motif bracelet, was finally going to message my SA today then saw the price went up $400 :( Now I don't know if I should order it anyway or wait to see if one of my friends can snag it for me when he goes to Europe...

Congratulation to all TPF members who managed to get your items before the PI! :happydance: For the Alhambra collection, I was not surprised to see the bigger jump in the Guilloche & Hammered gold prices due to it having 'more gold' vs a stone piece with gold. Surprised to see a higher price for MOP vs Onyx. Typically, they would be the same price after a price increase.

The watch truly is a work of art. VCA gives attention to both the front and the back of the watch. The sapphires were even more beautiful in person.

I will let you know if/when I make it to Switzerland. I was in Montreux last summer. It was glorious!

I bought a few small yg Vintage Alhambra pieces in the last couple of weeks, because I had collected white gold at first and only had the yg hammered bracelet (plus the earrings which have been on order for months). I know there was general talk about price increases and I figured with the price of gold it was probably coming. I had two pendants lengthened and they were going to be ready this week. So when I talked to my SA earlier this week, she did ask me if there was anything else I wanted because there probably would be an increase soon. So I asked her if she had a blue agate bracelet and at first she said no, but then she texted me again and said she actually found one and it matches my pendant! So I did get one extra thing in time.

I don't think it's a marketing strategy. I have a friend who is a pearl jewelry collector as well as VCA, and she said fine quality pearl prices had increased greatly due to some issues with warmer oceans. Sorry I cannot adequately explain it. So it may also affect the quantity of fine quality mother of pearl, as well. So if their cost is increasing for MOP, then that would be the reason they'd raise the price above the onyx. I, too, was surprised to see it.

I have a friend (actually the one above who knew about pearl price increases!) who has that gorgeous pink and purple sapphire F de P bracelet! She showed me the difference in the price of that piece. She got hers a couple of years ago when it was maybe a little less than the $137k. The most recent price was $158k and now $194k (25% increase), so I'd say in the last 2-3 years, it has gone up a good 50%. Anyone who bought this bracelet was very, very fortunate!

I also noticed that the gold price seemed to be the justification for most of the increases with a few exceptions regarding stones.

You must have had a lot of fun trying on those HJ watches!

I never would have imagined that MOP would have gone up more significantly than some of the other stones. I love the magic 16 and have tried it on in person, but it’s a very niche piece for one’s wardrobe so I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet and honestly that’s a lot of money for MOP to me.

Got a pair of plum blossom earrings and hammered gold bracelet before the price increase. Very tempted to get the WG guilloche bracelet too but resisted.

I’m glad my SA got the hammered gold bracelet before the PI - if only I can get the 16 motif necklace too. 😂

I agree, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants and mine really loves anything pearl! It’s such a gorgeous piece and I was offered one that I really liked (perfect stones for me) last summer and I guess I should have taken it then, but, just as you said, I thought I won’t get that much wear out of it at this moment. Now I’m thinking I should have just gotten it and worn it with everyday things and enjoy it! 😂
