What exactly is rock crystal? Why is it so elusive? Is it like clear quartz?
Rock crystal is just another name for transparent and colorless quartz. It's elusive because while it's easy to find rock crystal (you can find it in most if not all crystal shops), it's relatively rare to find completely clear and flawless crystals enough to form a 5-motif bracelet, for example. Most natural crystals will have some form of internal or external imperfection—such as cracks, lines, or inclusions—due to the conditions under which they were formed. These conditions can include variations in temperature, pressure, and the presence of other minerals and elements. Even synthetic crystals, which are grown in controlled environments, can contain imperfections.

So I think that's why VCA doesn't offer them as much.
