Sharing my new medium Brera in what must be Valextra’s “red” or “love red.” I found her for a great price on Yoox, and am pretty sure I’ll keep her even though I wasn’t really in the market for a red bag this size/style. It seems like Valextra must be phasing out the medium Brera (a shame, as the micro wouldn’t be nearly as useful for me), and I thought I should snap her up. I love the trapezoidal shape and textured leather (thanks coffee2go for posting your medium Brera for intel!), and I’ve been really into red in general lately. I find that it functions like a neutral and brightens up a lot of different looks.
Amazing pick, especially for spring-summertime! 😍 yeah I feel like they’re phasing out Brera too, such a shame as it’s a great alternative to LV Capucines and Fendi Peekaboo… obviously Iside is their signature bag style and bestseller they’ll always have, so they’re trying to create more bags with that clasp detail, that’s why even Milano comes with one… maybe they’ll launch smth similar to Brera with a clasp 😅

Does anyone have an older Brera who can report on how well they hold up?
Full disclosure. I have too many bags and think I should make room in my closet. When I get the itch, this is one that I think I should sell. She's in perfect condition, smooth leather, lovely color. I sometimes think, she's more of a lady than I am, I think "bag for fantasy life" and think of selling her. Then, I look at her and cannot get over how beautifully made she is and think I'll regret it, and know that I'll never be able to replace her, and put her back on the shelf (or take her for a spin.)

I have this same conversation with my Moynat Pauline (soo big, but so beautifuly made!), and my Delvaux east west Brillant. I have the exact same internal conversation, then have the exact same response.

I should cull my collection (I should stop buying bags!), but cannot seem to get there.

She is a beauty! I have other Valextra bags and love them all. I actually love my entire bag collection, but struggle with being okay with having so many bags. I’m sure I’m not alone. I should cull my collection some, but cannot figure out how to. This isn’t a Valextra issue, it is something else. I just happened to have a moment here in the Valextra thread.

Edited to add--10 years and look at that perfect structure and color. Just lovely. And the edge work is still shiny and glorious.

I know exactly how you feel! That is a beautiful bag, and I totally get being torn about letting go vs. having "too many."

My approach is that if I'm well and truly "done" with a particular style/size but know I could repurchase if I do end up regretting, away it goes. Sometimes that's tricky - with Moynat the resale market is variable so finding another Pauline in great condition isn't a given.

If you use it at all or just love seeing it in your closet, it's still "worth" keeping IMO.

That color is so special and seemingly quite unique across all brands. I would hang onto it if you can. Side story: I nearly sold a Fendi baguette 20+ years ago and my friend convinced me to hang on to i. I am so grateful I did. I still have it to this day and there was a time not that long ago when it was one of my most carried bags at the time. I feel like my lifestyle and fashion style has changed so much over the years that bags that didn’t really have a place in my world a few years back, fit perfectly into my life today and vice versa. There might come a time in your life when your valextra will fit your style perfectly and you will be overjoyed that you didn’t sell your gorgeous bag.

So I say if you have the means and the space to keep ypur beautiful bag, I definitely would. Maybe sell something more duplicative and less unique, if necessary…if you are like me, you probably have a dozen or more black bags - maybe part with one of those instead?

I have several Valextra handbags and many more handbags from other brands, and out of all of them, I think Valextra are the ones I’ll keep forever, since they’re classic, don’t scream “luxury” as other brands do, plus since Valextra is changing its designs a bit, I feel like some of their truly beautiful styles like Triennale and Brera were already phased out, so I won’t easily find them. I don’t like the Milano handbag, despite how much they tried to push it, I think I’ve even have spotted it in one of the latest And Just Like That episodes or maybe it was another TV show

Picking up lunch in my trusty Serie S. She is such a great grab and go.

And I sold a Chanel this morning, so feeling a little less handbag obsessive this afternoon.

I have one of these in a similar color. This bag is the perfect smallish travel bag! My only issue is that the long strap clasp sometimes undoes itself.

I wish they still made these as I'd get another in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the comment. I was thinking about parting ways with the brown Brera, but I think you think I was parting with the smokey S Serie. Either way, thanks. Now that I sold my Chanel flap, 1) I feel like I made a little space in my closet and a little $$, 2) I am now down to 2 black bags which is plenty for me, and 3) feel like I was freaking out over nothing. I love Valextra's understated beauty.

I also adore their smooth calfskin leather and I don't think they use it any more, so I'd be nutty to let go of this lovely, smooth Brera.

View attachment 6197708i found the resale value, as well as demand for preloved Valextra, to both be so nauseatingly low that I think it'd be more wasteful to sell yours off rather than keep. I think it took me close to 2 years for my mini babila to sell for $400 (so 13% of its $4100 list price), and I had it listed on 5 platforms. I also sold a bifold wallet, which went much faster (maybe closer to 6 months), but still the same value retention as the babila at $54 (so about 10% of its list price).
That said, for those Valextra fans that have said how much you'd like a Valextra bag but think the cost is out of reach: think again, and consider preloved. Its a buyers's market, so even if the list price is a tad too high, make an offer and see what happens.

Hello I am new to valextra and haven’t posted much on tpf recently so I may be asking this question in the wrong place, were the older original version of the Iside medium exactly the same dimensions as those given on the valextra website currently. I bought one from Vestiaire which claimed to be a medium but its actual dimensions when I measured it are a bit out? Thanks so much in advance.

I have small Iside from the older edition, I can check and compare with the new small one, if it’s helpful somehow
