Hello I hope this is the right thread for this! Does anyone know if sellers like this on eBay are legit?

Noticed a lot of sellers in Japan so curious on if these are legit how they’re able to source so many scarves and why is it in Japan and not say Europe where I assume the scarves sold in Eur are the relatively cheapest to buy?

Dear all,

I saw a B25 on a Japanese reseller website. It is a W stamp unused bag but the "screws" have turned yellow. Is this a minor isse? Should I go ahead with the purchase? Thank you.

Electrum is pretty subtle. I’d suggest doing a little internet sleuthing to find a good, clear set of images to compare with your intended purchase. I don’t own anything with electrum HW but my recollection is of images exactly like your pic. Some parts of the hardware are gold and some palladium but the gold aspects are less visually assertive than the palladium which is why a seller not deep into the details might assume it’s palladium.

And of course there’s every reason to seek authentication to be as certain as you can be without making the purchase at a boutique.

Hi! I did a search, but don't think I saw her mentioned anywhere here in the H forum? Does anyone have any experience buying H bags from the personal shopper, momoland__tokyo? As in do you know if they're authentic? I see she has a very trustworthy reputation for Chanel (and I've actually bought something from her that's Chanel), but I've been hesitant for a H bag because I'm very worried about the authenticity. I don't understand how personal shoppers like her can get these bags? 😅 TY for any advice!

My husband is heading to Japan soon and is hoping to find a Birkin 35 for me on the resale market. I know that Japan is considered to have a lower risk as far as receiving a counterfeit item, however I would still like to have any potential purchase authenticated by Bababebi for peace of mind.

For those of you who have purchased bags from resellers in Japan recently, how did you manage the authentication process? Did you purchase the bag first, then send photos to an authenticator and hope for the best? Or were you able to get it authenticated prior to the purchase?

Thank you!

Hi,

I need help here. Please refer to the attached picture. Do the 2 lines look like scratches? I have asked the seller (reputable reseller) if they are scratches and the seller assured me that there were no scratches on the bag. I have made the purchase. How do I argue with the seller that these are scratches?

How much do you think is a reasonable price to pay for this bag? It is W stamp, supposed to be unused B25 Sellier Epsom, in Black with Ghw.

I have also posted on Hermes chat thread.

Thank you for your help!

Hm, it could maybe be natural lines in the leather, too, or a superficial scratch as the surface (especially as they run parallel) but it does not look deeply scratched (if scratched) on the picture. Hard to tell in black and a picture.

Are you worried you overpaid for what you got?

Hi, thanks for replying.

I have checked with the seller again. They assured me that these are natural lines (something like our wrinkles). They told me the 2 lines have the same colour as the surrounding area (not darker or lighter). Scratches will be darker according to what they told me. The 2 lines also feel smooth.

Yes, I am worried that I overpaid for this bag.

I totally understand the economic worry of overpaying and I’ve been there, too. I wonder why you are so focused on the scratches (or whatever they are) - do you want to return the bag because of it, because you feel kind of (financially) betrayed by the seller or did you realise that you do not actually love the bag plus/minus the scratches?

If you do really love the bag as such and enjoy it, this bumpy start will fade in the background, if you allow it to. Sometimes, getting something you really love is not only measured by the fair market price but the subjective price you were willing to pay for the item. Although it is economic nonsense, strictly speaking, but luxury shopping is never economic rational but highly emotional.

So, my advice would be to focus on the overall picture of the situation and either enjoy it or work towards a cancellation of the order, if you really feel betrayed and can not live with the bag in this condition.

(Of course, I am assuming now that this did not bring you in financial trouble now or later because you are dependent to - larger extent on the resale value. )

I do like this bag, so I have decided to keep and enjoy it.

Would like to give an example and ask several related questions because I haven't found a definitive old discussion about authenticators in Singapore.

I'm male and appreciate the Space for Men thread here. I'm not per se a Hermes collector, but I have several Evelyne GM (33) and TGM (40) bags in neutrals (black, brown, etoupe, etain) because I like this particular model as a soft cross body bag with an open top as a bag for short walks. Maybe I'll buy a Birkin 40 one day. Given this preference, I bought a Steve 35 caporal in gold clemence from Fashionphile and took it to Singapore, where I live.

1. Do you authenticate a secondhand Hermes purchase every time, especially if you only get lower value bags (not Birkins or Kellys), only buy from trusted resale stores in Singapore (or Fashionphile in this case), and have no intention of selling the bag? Or in this case, should you just do it so that you can return it to Fashionphile in the unlikely event there is an issue? I'm curious about authenticating less popular Hermes models since there's less incentive to fake them but there's obviously the danger of an unsuspecting person consigning an old fake with Fashionphile.

2. Is there a better option for in-person or in-country authentication in Singapore, since it's one city that supports this? I understand Entrupy is the leading Singapore-based choice and you can bring in the bag in person instead of relying on photos. However, I've seen many old comments saying Entrupy is not reliable and you should get a Bababebi certificate no matter where you are in the world or don't bother.

3. The Steve I got was in good condition with very slightly wear and no visible scuffs or worn edges. I thought it looked old and slightly dirty if that makes sense, but think it's just the way the matte gold color looks. The leather and the contrast stitching are probably fine. I thought I could give it a good wipedown then apply leather conditioner, and there's no point sending a bag in good condition to the spa. Would this sound right for an old Steve with a new owner?

Apologies again if these are covered in older threads, I did not find them.
