Out of curiosity I am listing all the Hermes items that I captured from Ebay that the seller I bought from had sold or listed. I thought because they were of so many different ages and types that a collector must have been downsizing...I am super curious to see what the Ebay authenticators say about the bags I bought...

Here are a few that sold:

And here are some that were listed but say no longer available:

Has anyone had experience with buying from sellers on 1st dibs?

I am looking at a vintage bag and I was wondering if this authentication option is actually valid:
Possibility of Certification of authenticity by a judicial expert and at the Appeal Court of Paris
@felsp I have bought on 1st dibs but not used that authentication option. IMO 1st dibs can be very expensive especially for BNIB or pristine items. It’s worth investigating sellers/pricing - you may be able to find the same item direct through the relevant reseller’s own site for a lower price.

I think it is extremely risky to purchase from an unknown private seller. I would not trust an unknown eBay authenticator either. There are plenty of resellers with solid reputations and plentiful feedback.

ETA: I am not an expert or an authenticator. And TPF rules prevent discussion of specific details, but I will say that these pics do not look good to me. Even without these pics, I agree with the point made by @audreylita that Seller has no history of selling high end goods and has a seller feedback of 3, with all items sold in the last month to the same buyer. This alone should be sufficient red flag to avoid the seller.

Yep, you are so right. I think I got all excited, and pulled the trigger too fast.

I am expecting that the items I bought will be rejected by EBay authentication. I think that is probably why all the items were taken down. The bags sold before I bought mine would have hit the authentication people.

I read through a lot of posts on here, including the Ebay Authentication discussion thread. Even though I now understand that they are not the best resource, I think they do spot some fakes.

If by some chance the bags make it to me I will pay for professional authentication.

It will all work out. I really appreciate all I am learning on here! So many resources...thank you.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I am looking for a vintage bag, so the pricing isn't as bad. However, I'll take another look around before pulling the trigger

Hi there -
I was surprised to see that this has not been updated since 2006. It would be great to have a more updated list. I would be happy to help however I am able to contribute as a Hermes newbie.

Here is a a happy update to my Hermes Ebay adventure - I have a wonderful outcome!

I just heard from Bababebi that my Birkin is in fact authentic!

Also, none of the sellers bags were rejected by Ebay, and I have been in contact with the seller, and she is trying to find out from Ebay why the listings were removed. I hope no one from here reported her.

So my good feeling turned out to be correct, and I own a lovely condition Birkin, in a color that I love, although historically it may not have been the most popular. So happy!

And, still the best idea to communicate with your seller, and Bababebi is wonderful to work with! Super responsive, thorough, and knowledgable! I have great peace of mind now.

Beautiful bag! cute kitty!
So happy for you.
I'm really glad it worked out well for you.:hugs:

I just received my bag from TRR which I absolutely love! Then I found the blind heat stamp after i opened the flap. I dont think I can overlook the 4 letters that have nothing to do with my name. Can anyone advice me on how to initiate a return given their no return policy? I just opened the box 20 minutes ago so I’m going to consider it overnight but ultimately knowing me, this is something I’ll be unable to live with. I am so bummed, color and bag are amazing otherwise.
Thanks for any help you can provide :crybaby:
not sure i understand what you mean.

Selling my new Hermes exotic on eBay? A sacrilege! Never in a million years!
So why am I checking out consigning with Jane Finds, Sotheby's or Ann's Fabulous Finds?
Where would you sell?

I the Uk, I can confirm that buying through designer exchange can get you the best deals.
Selling to them is however a hit and miss, their offers can be quite low but at least they offer cash straight away or store credit.
The best way to deal with them is to sell them non hermes items and get store credit and then wait for a nice hermes item.
I've managed to buy many different hermes/Chanel pieces. For exemple à Kelly wallet brand new for less than 1000£ with store credit.

Bagista have the best deals on consignment. I recently sold a herbag and in less than 3weeks.

I would also check out Prive Porter and Only Authentics. My personal experience is they pay very well for new exotics.
