I don't feel like I'm being dishonest. Our relationship is good, but I've had bad luck with orders/SO requests from places where I do have VIP level spending lately, so I know there's not a great chance. Also, on a personal non-consumer-goods level, I've heard a lot of "no"s lately and honestly am ready to spend $$ rather than hear a no around my birthday? Even if there's a chance there's a yes. Just too many things going wrong lately are bumming me out and I don't want to try. Wow, I sound so depressed :flowers:

You are sounding very negative. Such a shame, to be in the position to spend like that and be so unhappy.

I'm in a similar situation-its my birthday today(not actually a zero ending milestone but after 60 every year feels like a milestone!)
I promised myself if I reached my sales target for the year at work by this week (our financial year ends on Saturday) I'd treat myself to a 'new' Hermes bag in the next few weeks.
The only reason I haven't asked my SA for one is not spend or scarcity related but purely because I actually prefer to go the pre-loved route from a reputable seller at an affordable price.
IF-I was intending to buy from the boutique like you it would be a larger size bag I'd be after not the sought after 25's and 30's and I would definitely reach out to my SA to ask about availability.
If they say 'no' just dont see it as a rejection or negatively just say to yourself "oh well! I expected that anyway!" and move on.
I will add that I'm horrified at the prices on the pre-loved market recently..I REFUSE to spend what a new bag costs (or a few 100 less) on a used one.
At the risk of sounding negative myself I've been looking for weeks and last night thought I may have to abandon the idea of new/old Hermes altogether for awhile and wait until the market cools (if it does)
But Chin up!
These are first world problems and we're lucky to have them!

Thank you. I'm sorry I think I didn't explain myself well. I'm not set on buying a new bag, and my "decent" spend is just that, decent, not great enough to produce entitlement, and I also hate the idea of being manipulative about "its my birthday" and so on. So I am fine with buying preowned, which I also think is the most realistic path for me at this time. However, since the preowned markups on even the larger Bs I would want is pretty significant, I also want to make sure the condition is pretty good. Does that seem to be the case on any I've posted? Here is the one I am most interested in:

I know I should be able to shake it off, but also know that too much is going on for me right now, including some literally non-first world problems like some US immigration issues in the family (I am from a developing country and while I have US citizenship many members of my family do not, some do not even have visas. As some non-US TPFers may know, having a US citizen family member can even cause problems on some occasions with applications as officers wrongly may suspect that makes relatives likely to overstay -- sorry off topic detail but I am very stressed about this in addition to other things), and I know that I just don't need the added burden of even trying to make an appointment with an SA if I'm being honest. I'm also holed up at the beach and not in the city and this definitely isn't something I'd want to do by phone/email/text and I know myself well enough to know it would become a whole thing. So, sorry for the super long post, but I am not planning to purchase a new B at this time. I am seriously thinking about buying a preloved one and am curious if the above is a good option or if the weird whatever is going on in the corners would be a reason to rule out. There are a few others at FP that appeal to me in a similar price range. I feel like anything less than 10K is an ok markup for my mental health, but would like some feedback on the bag(s)! TIA

Thanks? There are, I think we all know, many things that make a person unhappy that money cannot fix, or that money can make a little better but still very, very difficult. I do not think it is shameful to feel sad regardless of how much money one can or cannot spend and if one feels sad I don't think there's anything wrong with retail therapy one can afford. If it makes anyone feel better I also tried some charity therapy and of course go to therapy therapy. This is a hard time of year for me generally due to some sad personal anniversaries, there are some challenging things in my life right now that money cannot fix. I am happy for those who are unaware of these kinds of sad feelings and circumstances, whatever their finances. I'm sorry this thread has taken this turn but would still appreciate feedback on the bags I posted

The Blue Nuit bag looks like it is in good shape other than the interior marks and the corner scuff. If you get it authenticated by someone you trust and don’t mind the price, why not? But be prepared for your SA to wonder why you didn’t let her know you wanted a B35 first. She may have a similar bag sitting in the stock room at this very moment. Just sayin’. :winkiss:

Thank you! I'd be too self-conscious to ever carry it in tbh :flowers:

I'm sorry to hear about your problems and sincerely hope that everything turns out for the best for all concerned.
I'm no expert on Hermes bags (I wish I was) but just looking at them as if I were potentially purchasing them to my eyes the feet on the 1st bag dont bother me..nobody will be looking at the feet, Everyone treats their bags differently but on a larger bag it appears to me having looked at many that cover wear is to be expected (the bigger the bag the bag the more likely it is to scrape against something).
The pale stain on the other Birkin would bother me..it could be caused by hand sanitiser and the area may have been left 'bleached' due to that.
I cant comment on pricing as this seems to be the going rate-except that Its more than I would pay for a preloved bag knowing I can get with patience a new one from the boutique for around £10,800
Hope this helps and once more I hope you have a reason to feel free from stress and anxiety soon.

I think the bleu nuit bag looks to be in good shape. The malachite one is sold out unfortunately so i guess that helps limit the options if you were so-so on it. I'm with the previous comment that the feet don't bother me on the vert de gris. I feel like Fashionphile lists out all the problems they see in the comments and when i've looked at the bag in person, it looks much better than described. This is actually the one that i purchased for myself https://www.fashionphile.com/p/hermes-togo-birkin-35-brique-826794. It lists a few things that I actually didn't notice when I got the bag. I tend not to care about the condition of the inside unless the description says musty or food odor. I also got it authenticated by bababebi. This might be a good option too if you are looking for blue or green bags.

Thank you, jyywu, this was really, really helpful!

No I didn't, I could have. That baby was snatched up probably within 20 mins of being put on the site. A little less than $12K. It's such a classic piece but I am just not sure I can handle the box leather. Been saving up for a K28 sellier, will likely go with Epsom.

I read on this forum that she’s apparently moody: if she’s in a good mood, she replies nicely. I was tempted by her barenia once and she was nice enough to reply to my inquiries. Also as I was new to the process. But I didn’t go ahead. My husband is against buying from reseller.

If you’re comfortable to divulge, can you please elaborate more of your encounter?

I have purchased from her before so I can provide some information on my encounter. I find her quite rude and abrupt. Regardless she provided all the pictures and responded fast. I ordered a Kelly bag and when it arrived the bag had a spa receipt and was very badly repainted on one side only. This was not declared and did not match the pictures sent. I noticed it straight away and contacted her. She apologised and said she did not realised - I am not sure if I believed this as it was incredibly obvious and the bag felt different on the painted areas. I returned the bag and she refunded thankfully. However it was slow to be refunded and it was over a few transactions where she had given customers me details so their payments owed to her would go to me to form the refund. I wasn’t sure if she would fully refund me but she did over a couple of weeks. However I was shocked to see the same bag re listed straight away and again not declared that it was re painted. Personally I would never deal with her again having seen that.

I do purchase solely now from Eclaire atelier who is reliable, honest and he has sourced many bags for me. They have a physical store in Singapore.
