Thank you B. The thread is missing pictures for CW's 01,03,05,06,07,09, and 10

On the other hand, anyone knows her?

I noticed that website as well. The name sounds familiar, I'm just not sure....

Longstanding and beloved TPF Hermes forum member.

I haven’t seen them before but I just looked at their profile. Is the IDR currency Indonesian Rupiah? If so, their prices listed are suspiciously low. I can’t see many likes or comments on their posts either except a couple to say sold or spam posts. Considering the number of followers they have that low engagement looks suspicious too. Do they have a physical store anywhere? I’d be cautious unless someone else can vouch for them.
Thanks I do not think they have any physical stores

I think it depends a lot on your personal style and what limits you have on wear and tear/ what you’ll accept. Have a look to see if you can find posts and reviews on Epsom leather in particular and how it wears over time. Then you can get a better idea about your decision. Epsom is a more rigid which is meant to hold its shape when stored properly. Harder leathers can scuff a lot on the corners too depending how the person took care of it. 10 years or more is a long time for wear to accumulate. I think H started making epsom in the mid 2000s. 2004 maybe? Lots of experts in this forum will know I’m sure. Older leather might be dry (so more prone to cracking) depending on the climate in the country that you’re buying from. If you buy the more structured Kelly Sellier you probably want it to be kept in good shape and look in good condition. If you like the softer look of Kelly Retourne then it is more likely to have lost its original shape. Some people appreciate a worn in and loved bag and others want their bag to always look pristine. Both are gorgeous but it’s harder (or more expensive) to find excellent condition with older bags. I think the Hermès spa only do the work that they see as appropriate to do on the bag. So I’d also look into that to confirm if you are set on replacing hardware. Also the Hermès spa is very strict on authenticity and will destroy any fake bags they receive. Make sure you have a reputable preloved seller and authentication and receipt etc. Have a good look around before purchasing so you can be confident in what you’re getting, especially if you’re buying online and can’t see it in person first. Good luck!
wow thank u so much for the detailed response. much appeeciate it.
i am after kelly sellier, and since it is likely to be my only 1 for the next few years, I want it to "shine" instead of "tired".
will hermes spa be able to freshen up tiredness and scuffed edges.

i am wearing a 8 years old coach w leather like the prada saffiano leather. it definitely a working bag that i wear 90%of the time. i dont baby it but i take care of it reasonably ok, so that its edges arent scuffed and its surface has no scratches but it still look tired irl. it looks on picture - shines, no scuffs etc
i do not want that tired look.
this means, based on what u wrote, hinging on ability of hermes spa to "freshen leather up and work magic on scuffed edges (unsure abt scratches on epsom)"... max would be 10yo epsom kelly sellier?

Spend some months researching the market.* You have to get your own 'feel' for what is available.
Assuming you are likely to buy on like make sure you have a good computer monitor (don't rely on a phone or tablet - put the image on a good television). Look at every detail with care; if you see a mark or blemish, ask about it. A reputable seller will understand. Don't be tempted to use wire transfer - especially if it is the perfect bag that you don't want to miss.

*Researching the market.
Asking for advice and opinions is only the first step. You must do your own research.
Look at as many bag as you can, even in colours and leathers that don't interest you.
You might change your mind.
This will give you a good idea of what is generally available and what the going rate might be.
You will be surprised just how many older bags there are in tip top condition,
because most owners value them and care for them.
Look at the Clubhouse threads on here and you will see just how many gorgeous older bags tpf members have acquired.
If you are inexperienced I would be cautious of Instagram sellers and outlets.
Even be prepared to get independent authentication of items from well-know outlets.
wow thank u so much abt looking at a bigger screen, even TV.
i will definitely do that!!!!!

yes i will prob get from fashionpile, been in comm w bababebi. and is at t = 1.5 appr.

thank u so much again.

Well, I feel super awkward about this, but I have a milestone birthday coming up and after years of saying the opposite, I feel a huge urge to mark the occasion with a Birkin. I have a decent purchase history, but certainly not one good enough to drop a "Hey, I'm turning XX in [not that long] and actually...." bomb on my SA in the middle of a huge shortage. I've been looking at a few pieces on FP, and am specifically wondering what you all think of the wear/issues on these:

(Super worn feet IMO for something this new and strange smoothing, scratches, even peeling at corners?)

(looks good besides an area where it looks like something spilled? Or bird p00p?)

I might just suck it up and buy one of the even-more-overpriced excellent condition 35s or a 40 (can so far only find older than I'd want, but seem in good condition) unless more B experienced TPFers tell me these are minor issues. Or, maybe I should resist this weird sudden B urge, just seemed appropriate for this milestone ;)

If you have a good (long standing?) association with your SA why aren't you just being honest and asking her? Who are you to deem that you are not worthy!
Obviously you cannot be unaware of the current shortages, but that is not your problem.
It might affect the response your SA can give you, but you have nothing to loose - and a lot to gain!

We may be in a shortage but size 35 bags should still be relatively easy for a client with a “decent purchase history”. Recommend trying your SA first.

I don't feel like I'm being dishonest. Our relationship is good, but I've had bad luck with orders/SO requests from places where I do have VIP level spending lately, so I know there's not a great chance. Also, on a personal non-consumer-goods level, I've heard a lot of "no"s lately and honestly am ready to spend $$ rather than hear a no around my birthday? Even if there's a chance there's a yes. Just too many things going wrong lately are bumming me out and I don't want to try. Wow, I sound so depressed :flowers:
