I agree, something is going on with
Fashionphile. I sold an Evelyne bag, had it about a month and decided I just made a mistake with the color. I had everything, included the receipt. Sold it at a "showroom"...also known as Neiman Marcus. This was a Friday morning. They told me the check wouldn't be good until the next business day. What? I said, you expect me to take a loss, ok I expected that, but to take my bag, and not pay me for it until Monday? So, she said, well, let's do a payout in a direct deposit. Ok, they didn't pay me until Tuesday afternoon. Then they had a necklace,(on their website) that they said was Tiffany, nope, it was Roberto Coin. I emailed them to tell them how I knew they were incorrect. They didn't change the listing. Feel sorry for whomever thinks they got a Tiffany diamonds by the yard, not that Roberto Coin is not lovely, but it wasn't what they expected they were buying.
What you just mentioned, mislabeled items, is one of the things I have noticed occurring with ever more frequency on Fashionphile. I am a diehard Hermès customer. I order two to three items from my SA every couple weeks. She and I text message back and forth about things frequently now. I am happy to have found a new SA, since my longtime SA, Sally, left Hermès last year. My husband says I am an orange box monster. Hermès is the only company of its kind I purchase from, so I own a significant amount, across a broad spectrum of their items. I am no bababebi, but I do pretty well at spotting an item that isn’t authentic. I may not always be able to pinpoint why it is not authentic, but I’ll have fireworks and alarm bells going off inside my head. I see that ever more frequently with Fashionphile. Previously, it was only on
Rebag, TheRealReal, Vestiaire Collective, etc., where my brain hurts after seeing the number of counterfeit items being sold. I leave those sites feeling sad for the people who will be duped. TheRealReal just sold a Nevada Hello Mr. Farrier cap in tan, that seemed to me to not be real. It had unfinished seams, tattered edges, the leather Mr. Farrier was cut wrong, and the lining of the inside of the hat was all wrong. It sold for $315
The scarf in the attached screenshots caught my eye because I liked it, but then I got to the tag, and it seemed a bit off, so I googled it to see if I could find someone posting theirs for comparison. What came up was a previous Fashionphile listing for the exact same scarf, with the exact same photos, and same “new” description. I emailed them, the response was that it was indeed the same exact item, someone bought it, and then used their, I forget the name, fashion renewal exchange program to return it and use the credit for a new item. I thought, ok, but then it’s not “new” anymore, so why are you still selling it as new a second time?
Then there’s this coin plate. It’s still for sale at Hermès, and for less than what Fashionphile wants for it, even with Fashionphile’s “10% discount.” The list just goes on and on of things I see lately. It is such a departure from what I experienced when I first encountered Fashionphile last year. I’ve only made two purchases with them, but I am hesitant to make more due to these recurring weird issues.
Does anyone here know what’s going on with them? New management? New authenticators? Anything to explain this? Until it’s figured out, I’m going back to only buying through my SA at Hermès. Too bad, was always nice to find an item here and there that seemed a good deal.
