You offered your BNIB Box Kelly 25 to FP??They offered me $8K for a brand new Kelly 25 in box never carried! They would list that at at least twice that price.

No no, IN a box lol. I just wanted to see what they'd offer, since it was an impulse buy.You offered your BNIB Box Kelly 25 to FP??
No, of course not. I sold to a lovely human being. I am not a fan of FP - was just trying to illustrate how ludicrous their offers can be.Please tell us that you didn't take their offer! I am so sick of selling to them, for FP to turn around and make a fortune. Never say never, but at this point, I'm done with them.
So I received a buyout quote for my bag from Fashionphile and they put a time limit on the offer for later today. Is that standard? Why do they do that? I am awaiting quotes from several other websites and so I don't want to accept yet. If I let the offer expire is it forever gone or will they reactivate it - perhaps at a lesser price? I'm sorry for these basic questions but this is the first of my many bags that I have considered selling and so I am not familiar with the protocol. Thank you very much.
I would rather "overpay" to H and be confident I got the genuine article than wind up overpaying to a reseller b/c I didn't do enough market research, checking out the market, etc. What you just mentioned, mislabeled items, is one of the things I have noticed occurring with ever more frequency on Fashionphile. I am a diehard Hermès customer. I order two to three items from my SA every couple weeks. She and I text message back and forth about things frequently now. I am happy to have found a new SA, since my longtime SA, Sally, left Hermès last year. My husband says I am an orange box monster. Hermès is the only company of its kind I purchase from, so I own a significant amount, across a broad spectrum of their items. I am no bababebi, but I do pretty well at spotting an item that isn’t authentic. I may not always be able to pinpoint why it is not authentic, but I’ll have fireworks and alarm bells going off inside my head. I see that ever more frequently with Fashionphile. Previously, it was only on Rebag, TheRealReal, Vestiaire Collective, etc., where my brain hurts after seeing the number of counterfeit items being sold. I leave those sites feeling sad for the people who will be duped. TheRealReal just sold a Nevada Hello Mr. Farrier cap in tan, that seemed to me to not be real. It had unfinished seams, tattered edges, the leather Mr. Farrier was cut wrong, and the lining of the inside of the hat was all wrong. It sold for $315
The scarf in the attached screenshots caught my eye because I liked it, but then I got to the tag, and it seemed a bit off, so I googled it to see if I could find someone posting theirs for comparison. What came up was a previous Fashionphile listing for the exact same scarf, with the exact same photos, and same “new” description. I emailed them, the response was that it was indeed the same exact item, someone bought it, and then used their, I forget the name, fashion renewal exchange program to return it and use the credit for a new item. I thought, ok, but then it’s not “new” anymore, so why are you still selling it as new a second time?
Then there’s this coin plate. It’s still for sale at Hermès, and for less than what Fashionphile wants for it, even with Fashionphile’s “10% discount.” The list just goes on and on of things I see lately. It is such a departure from what I experienced when I first encountered Fashionphile last year. I’ve only made two purchases with them, but I am hesitant to make more due to these recurring weird issues.
Does anyone here know what’s going on with them? New management? New authenticators? Anything to explain this? Until it’s figured out, I’m going back to only buying through my SA at Hermès. Too bad, was always nice to find an item here and there that seemed a good deal.
I didn’t. I’m glad @QuelleFromage didn’t either!!!!Please tell us that you didn't take their offer! I am so sick of selling to them, for FP to turn around and make a fortune. Never say never, but at this point, I'm done with them.
Nope! That was just me realizing I'd bought too many bags that year and thinking it would be a safe, painless way to sell a bag, assuming I'd get retail for it and they'd do a crazy markup. I don't understand how FP get new bags, considering that anyone with a BNIB K25 can easily find a home for it at above retail. (I sold mine direct to a lovely woman for exactly what I paid, no markup. Win win.)I didn’t. I’m glad @QuelleFromage didn’t either!!!!
I got an offer for a Hermes Kelly, which I accepted along with a limited edition Garden Party. I accepted both offers. After they received the bags, they said they couldn't tell for sure if the Kelly was authentic and were sending it back. This alone makes me question their authentication ability. I'd bought a couple of things from them in past, but never again.
I've actually considered doing exactly that. I already have the infrastructure as I run another unrelated retail business. That is awful! One more reason to avoid FP. Maybe some lovely tPFer wants to start a really cool, honest, no BS, no filtered Instagram feed (preferably no Instagram!), resale service with realistic pricing on BOTH sides, accurate leather/color ID, and knowledgeable authentication? Seeing the prices at JaneFinds et al I have to imagine this is possible......
I would totally be a customer. We need this kind of service. IIRC, Sam at Hautegallery and Nancy at Kaleidoplace were more like this, but I was just getting into H when they both seemed to stop their businesses.I've actually considered doing exactly that. If there is serious interest in such a service, I'd consider it.
Authenticity is a big question and one of the reasons I haven’t done it.I would totally be a customer. We need this kind of service. IIRC, Sam at Hautegallery and Nancy at Kaleidoplace were more like this, but I was just getting into H when they both seemed to stop their businesses.
At this point 90% of anything high-end I sell is sold to friends or friends of friends, because the other experiences are just not great.
