Hello. I recently bought a Hermes belt on eBay that was a sample sale without knowing. I didn't even know what a sample sale first in the first place. After reading about sample sales, I noticed that resale values aren't as high. Unfortunately, the seller doesn't offer returns, but I've always wanted a Hermes belt. I got it cheap as well and it was brand new. I just wish it didn't have the s stamps otherwise I would've been completely happy with my purchase. The s stamp was super hard to notice in the pictures. How much do you think Hermes sample sale belts can sell for?

Hi stylistic7, in my opinion, an S stamp may not decrease value much or at all. Especially if, as you note, it's discretely marked. It really depends upon the condition of the item, the demand for it, and its scarcity. The Hermes sale items are often just overstock. If you're otherwise happy with it (I assume the S mark is not visible when worn), just wear it and enjoy. And especially with belt straps, they will show wear with use, which I think more directly affects perceived value for resale.

If you've always wanted a Hermes belt and you are completely happy with your purchase and happy with what you paid I personally don''t understand why you are worrying about how much the belt will sell for.
Did you buy the belt to resell or to to wear and love?
I brought a Bolide relax brand new at a great price knowing it had the 'S' stamp on it.
I'm not worried about the S stamp as I didn't buy with a view to selling further down the line.
I will add here that Resale value of goods is only what someone is prepared to pay for it-I think people (often wrongly) assume that every item of Hermes is an 'investment' just look at the amount of unsold hermes on 2nd hand resale sites and you will see this is not always the case.

please let me know if i should post this elsewhere (or a new post).

buying used / second hand - is Rebag a good choice?

i want to buy some hermes (birkin, kelly, etc.). i don't have the resources to develop a relationship with a SA. However, i do see a lot of options on Rebag. is Rebag a good option for buying second hand Hermes?

from my research, they provide very good authenticity checks and have a lot of consumer protections; obviously they charge a premium as compared to other consignment or ebay and the like

what do you think? any reason i shouldn't use rebag? or if not, can you please let me know why i shouldn't use rebag?

I've purchased a Loewe bag and a Hermes bag from Rebag and have been happy with both bags.
However when buying Hermes from any second hand platform I would advise getting it independently authenticated by Bababebi
At a very reasonable cost compared to your investment for your peace of mind.
There are some incredible counterfeits out there that only Hermes themselves or an expert such as she could detect.

ok thank you. does Hermes store authenticate items (obviously they would not do it officially)? As in, i bring in a bag and they provide unofficial / casual observation of the item?

really? that is what my partner is concerned about - which is the high-quality hermes fakes. but we have authentic hermes and we know what the leather should feel like. i'm not professing to know what all the stitching, edge work, design, should be like - but i thought at a minimum, the leather treatment by hermes would be hard to replicate for bags? but i guess that's why i'm asking for advice - are the items you're referring to small leather goods? or like the expensive stuff as well, like the birkin / kelly (which is what i'm trying to get)

I can personally confirm that the leather can and has been replicated. The more expensive the selling price, the more incentive to make the bag very, very accurate.

I have personally handled fake bags that I would say would be indistinguishable to someone who did not know Hermes very, very well.

thank you - that is very helpful. and sad, haha. last question - for someone that DOES know hermes very, very well, what are the common issues that leads an expert authenticator to determine real or fake? we'll use an authentication service, but i figured i might as well get smart anyways. thank you so much!

I think the general consensus is that we try not to post details as it just makes the fakes better if we do.

Some things are obvious - don't buy from instagram sellers or on facebook; buy from reputable resellers with authenticity guarantees and make sure you understand the terms of those guarantees (for example, Madison Avenue Couture will only refund if the bag comes back rejected from Hermes spa; others will accept third party authenticators); if a price is too good to be true, it probably is.

thanks - that all makes sense. i will speak to rebag further - they made it sound like if there's any issues i would be taken care of (i think they offered for a refund (7 days), and to buy it back after 3, 6 or 12 months). but i'll double-check

And do contact Bababebi for authentication I wouldn't trust anyone else for Hermes.
As previously mentioned Hermes boutiques do not Authenticate bags-If you took it in to have it spa'd and it was deemed counterfeit they would destroy the bag is my understanding...

Hello everyone! I was wondering if someone has ever ordered a quota bag from Fashionphile and if they were happy with what they got? It would also be helpful if someone had ever ordered something from them who lives in Europe because of the shipping fees, taxes etc. Thank you in advance!
