I find it mildly interesting that in the history of retail, now is when they choose to open a physical store after so many years of, presumably, having a successful online-only business. Maybe I'm just a bored lil' housewife but I wouldn't be thrilled by the idea of ordering a bag, at well over retail price, and knowing that it could have been on public display for ages. Great option for folks to try on bags and then know what to ask for from their SA though!

Hi ladies, I am going to get my first kelly. Saw one on designer exchange.com which is based in the UK. If I buy online from the USA do I get vat tax refund like 20% ish? I guess I will need to pay US import tax still. Not sure how much that is. Is it how it works?

I believe that recent reviews here regarding eBay Brand JFA (and some other Japanese resellers like brand off) have been very mixed, but I’ve personally had great experiences, speedy shipping; condition as described; and great prices. I do examine the photos carefully and make sure my prospective purchases are authentic prior to purchase. Everyone should do their own due diligence. I also send all purchases to @docride for reconditioning, refurbishment, weather treatment; etc. So, I factor in 10% customs (standard with DHL); US state sales tax; docride spa and other treatment fees; and, cost of insured shipping. I prefer heritage leather; love the sustainability of shopping preloved; and am happy to get deals and projects particularly of discontinued styles or material. Two recent purchases a 32 box Kelly sellier, brushed phw, (I bought a 28 box Kelly earlier this year) and a vintage silver chèvre (?) clutch, phw. This summer and early fall, the reseller prices dropped due to covid.

Thanks for sharing!
Looking for a vintage Kelly 28 in Box leather myself and thinking about Brand JFA seller to get one, but wasn't sure at first

Another successful purchase from Framboise4055. Shipping delays and major confusion on the French post side. But she was wonderful. Very responsive. Absolutely perfect scarf. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from her again. This is my second time with her. Or maybe my third. :graucho::tup:

Can anyone recommend any UK based resellers. With Brexit and now having to pay an additional 20% on everything coming in from Europe its suddenly become very lonely and expensive being English. Im having things sent to a friend in Ireland but who knows when I can get over there to collect it.
I would recommed Xupes and Sellier in the UK. The latter have very good prices but you need to be quick to purchase as their stock is very quickly snapped up! Both sell the genuine article and often provide the redacted store receipts.

Can anyone give me their opinion on this?
i.e is it a good price? The condition I should expect to purchase at this price? I’m in love with this
I love the leather, and wouldn’t consider a birkin as I want something with a strap so this is
But I have never spent this much on a bag.
my most expensive is a limited edition Chanel so this is a massive Jump for me!
have sold a few of my other bags to find my purchase.
thanks In advance xx

Not sure exactly what opinion you seek but I will chime in with some of the things you should consider. Authenticity: no matter how reputable the seller, unless it's a boutique purchase you're wise to seek independent assessment of authenticity. It's generally a small amount of money compared to the price of the bag. Size/Leather choice: you've said you love the leather, and there are many, many box aficionados but be sure you've researched the pros and cons of box leather before coming to a final conclusion. And as for size, a 35 Kelly is not a small bag. Even if you're flowing against the small bag tide, be sure you want a 35 in a Kelly. There is a wealth of information on all of these factors here on tPF. Good luck!

thankyou for the reply.
It’s the mark on the front that bothers me.
And the fact it comes with no box when it costs so much money!

And yes prefer the Kelly over the birkin because of the strap. The have a birkin on there for roughly the Same price but it’s green which I’m not keen on. Think black is a safe option for me.
also prefer a larger bag as I can easily fill it

I don't have a lot of experience with Hermes spa services so I don't know what their assessment might be of that mark in the front. That mark would concern me far more than the lack of a box; Hermes storage boxes are often available on ebay if you really want one, and there are of course other aftermarket storage options. Perhaps someone with more experience with spa and what can be done will chime in, but at the risk of appearing to be overly pushy, I think you may wish to review my earlier comments before you drop a substantial amount of money on this bag.

First and foremost, you really will want to assure yourself that the bag is authentic; I know nothing about this seller so my comment is not directed at them but at the inevitable heartache and self-recrimination you will feel if you find you have purchased a fake. And there are many, many fakes out there.

Secondly, box leather is gorgeous, and considered one of Hermes' heritage leathers, but it does have issues that you should be sure will be minimized by the way you intend to use the bag. There are quite a few considerations and you should be aware of them, again, before you fork over a lot of money.

And finally, 'filling a larger bag' doesn't necessarily answer the question of whether a 35 Kelly specifically is going to work for you. Many people have taken the time to make a mock up of a bag they are considering, just to see what it really looks like when they carry it. This is especially useful if you don't have the option to try a 35 Kelly on for size and are relying on pictures to make an assessment. Again, it's a lot of money.

Take your time. Do your research. There will always be another bag. Good luck!

Is it just me or did the prices of Birkins offered by resellers go up significantly? Both eBay and Vestiaire Collective mostly offer Bs in the 5 figures, few in the 4 figures anymore (apart from vintage pieces from Japan). Some months to 1 month ago there seemed to be more "bargains"
Yes-I've noticed that.
The only ones that seem fairly priced are ones in very poor condition.
If I wanted to spend £10.000+ on a Birkin I'd wait and wait and save a bit more and buy from the boutique.
