I know Rachel from Jemznjewels personally - through working with her (buying and selling) she has become a friend. Her prices vary (it really depends on the bag) but she has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further. There's a loooong thread on TRR in general shopping including consignment experiences. Have you tried the "high end" consignment places like Prive Porter, Jemznjewels, JaneFinds? Their prices are so high I assume they must be paying decent prices....
I have been in the Upper East Side store and it would bother me if my exotic bag were available for trying on. However I think you could stipulate that the bag is sent to one of their warehouses. Not in a store. That’s if their pricing is so attractive that you want to take advantage of it.Hi all. I've bought and sold with The RealReal for a few years with overall mixed results. However, they just gave me the best estimate I've received on an expensive (exotic) Birkin. I was all set to send it in to their NYC store (where they will look over and guarantee me the listing price BEFORE i have to commit), but I'm all of a sudden getting cold feet. I don't like the idea of a lot of people handling my bag, and I don't like the plastic bands they put on the handles (I've received bags with them that have left indentations). Anyone here have experience consigning such an expensive bag with them? If I don't go through them, I'm likely to get much less for it.
Thanks!
I'm not sure if you can force such a stipulation. Once they buy it from him/her, I believe they can do whatever they like - e.g. plastic band on the handle, floor display, etc - as it's legally now theirs. I want to be wrong tho.I have been in the Upper East Side store and it would bother me if my exotic bag were available for trying on. This company does not buy the bag. It’s on consignment. So if it were mine and an expensive exotic I would insist or not consign.I'm not sure if you can force such a stipulation. I called Madison Ave. Couture at least once re selling a pristine H bag of the kind that is very desirable right now (take my word for that). They never called back. I wound up working with someone else. As soon as I got the notice on the pc that the bag was listed it sold. I never saw the sales listing just the sold one. I knew the bag would fly out of there.I recently sold some exotics to Madison Avenue Couture. It was a fast transaction and she gave me good prices. I'm very happy.![]()
Before I disappear in a pit of flames, I want to apologize for my poor choice of words. What I meant is that once another party acquires the bag, I believe they can do whatever they like with the bag. And I will restate that I'd like to be wrong in this matter as I have no skin in the game and sincerely want the best possible outcome for the original poster. Peace.I believe @bababebi is correct. When I consigned my Kelly, they sat down with me and went through an agreement on the process, price and terms. I had to sign the agreement and give my consent to the terms. If there’s a special request, you can tell them and have them include. However, since I’m in NYC I brought it to their HQ (not store) personally as that’s where my appointment was and I received (literally and figuratively) white glove service.
My personal experience with them was flawless and my Kelly sold in less than a week though it took a long time to list and get paid. This was after a terrible experience with Ann’s (do not recommend).

WRT Madison Ave. Couture, maybe I have to live in the city, mosey on by the store, and on a personal basis they accept the bag for consigning? Whatever. I'm very happy with my experience and results.

No the fault is mine really. I'm just hypersensitive sometimes due to some bad past experiences. My apologies. Yea, I think everyone is trying to help the OP to the best of their abilities. I really hope they're able to achieve a happy outcome with their sale if it happens. No need to apologize at all!! I'm so sorry if my post came off as accusatory. My intention was not to throw you into a pit of flames, I was only trying to provide my personal experience with TRR to the OP so they could be informed. I know you were well-intentioned and didn't mean to imply otherwise. You're right in that, once the bag is in their possession (even with signed paperwork etc), you never know what can happen as mistakes and miscommunication within employees happens often.

I have had the same experience - they never call back. And same deal, I sold the bag directly within a day of just letting my local friends know it was available.
In all honesty, I haven't had much luck with the big resellers. Ann's was a bad experience (similar to others); Fashionphile has only sent me hilarious lowball quotes; Jemznjewels I unfortunately did not find to be that nice of a person (sorry @Notorious Pink ); L'Ecrin not even worth discussing. TRR I would not consign to knowing what they are like to buy from and how they misrepresent items. I have had much more luck selling my bags directly or even on eBay.
