If my bag doesn’t sell by Monday I’m going to ask Ann’s for it back and just keep it. I’ll let you know if I get the box and receipt back in good condition. I had better.

It sounds like the realreal’s concierge service is the way to go if it’s available in your area.
I agree. If you cannot get a representative to come to your house and get you an acceptable quote before they leave I would probably not go with them. I have consigned a lot of stuff with them and having a representative actually take the stuff away gives you recourse you don’t have otherwise. I had a pair of shoes that arrived broken and they paid me for it as I had proof that it was fine when it left my house.

I am located in a city with a pick up service apparently. Perhaps I should have asked the consignment representative from the RealReal to meet me, but since I was just testing the waters I thought it would be more convenient to get a quote first through phone/email. I texted her photos and she sent them to the pricing department. They came back within minutes with a quote for an entirely different bag! The consignment representative said that it was common and customary to ask for a price re-evaluation, so she did so. Moments later the pricing department said they were sticking with their number unless I send the bag into the office thousands of miles away. I wasn’t too inspired with confidence from the experience so far, so I declined. My fear is that I would send it in and suddenly it would be listed on the website for the price they originally quoted, it would sell instantly, and I would have no recourse.
I think the Realreal is similar to fashionphile (from my very limited experiences) in that quotes vary widely depending on the individual employee who is pricing it. With the few items I submitted to fashionphile, I had one item they offered $9200 for, then I resubmitted it hours later with the same photos because I realized I didn’t include the box and dust bag in the submission and they quoted me $5400 for the exact same bag!
In the end, it seems our community here has so much more knowledge than these professionals. The price errors and mistakes in product names, styles and so on is pretty shocking to me. I understand that they need to know about a wide variety of brands, but I assume they have specialists for each brand as well.
I think my most amusing experience so far with consigning was a couple of year ago (this came to mind when the discussion here turned to Ann’s descriptions and how sometimes they are rose-tinted and sometimes too harsh). I was selling an Hermès bag through Ann’s, which was described nicely and appropriately, but the description said something like, “it comes with a rumpled dust bag...”
When I saw the listing, I had to laugh. Not exactly language to make a sale, and it certainly never occurred to me that the dustbag looked objectionable or that anyone would notice it more than I apparently did!
It totally depends on who is doing the pricing. I have a pair of Joueuse booties that I sent to them. They are new and when I looked at the price they were asking 325 I immediately contacted my rep. They are/were listed as ankle boots. I then found my exact pair of booties same color everything that were listed correctly by name and sold for 1,395. So now my rep is asking for a price adjustment and in the meantime they are not available for sale. It definitely behoves you to keep an eye on your listings and with a good representative it’s easier to have corrections made for you.

This is all great advice. Thank you

I have asked AFF for a bag & scarf back. They arrived as I sent it. I want to add, these items sold quickly somewhere else. Commenting only on my listings, the photos taken by them were not the best

That is good to know. I like Ann’s but I think they need to update their site. It’s really difficult to sift through everything that is available. I don’t want to have to wade through tons of sold items to find what is available. I think the site is frustrating and the least user friendly of the sites that I look at.

When Ann sent your bag back, did she give you back the box? I sent her my bag with the receipt, the box and all the accessories. If the bag doesn't sell, I'm hoping she sends back everything I sent her so I can either sell it myself or take it to TRR in NY.
Yes, she sent it all. Tempting, I am going to go hunt for your bag!

I agree with all you said! I also can not access the Consignor Dashboard even after assistance from them

Hi all! I would greatly appreciate advice about which resellers would be best for selling some rather rare Hermes handbags. I've received some very good estimates from the Real Real (consignment with 80% of price payout) and will be sending photos to Fashionphile, but was curious also about experiences with Heritage Auctions or AFF for these types of bags. Has anyone here sold limited edition bags with TRR, Heritage Auctions, Fashionphile, or AFF, and how did it go? Many thanks in advance!
A couple of months ago I sold an exotic with Prive Porter. Honestly they sold it so fast I practically got whiplash, they have a large network of good buyers. They sold the bag for me in 24 hours.

I wonder if some of the slow selling on some reseller's sites in the USA is due to it being tax season and no-one wants to spend money until they see what their tax burden is?

I've had the same thought regarding this uncertain tax season in the US. I also wonder if there's a bit of a glut in the pre-owned market right now. My experience (sporadic, low volume, but over many years) is that my things sold more easily in the past, and I'm not doing anything differently.
