Treatment in Hermes Stores

They used to be confined to only one department, but there was a somewhat recent change and now they are allowed to help you throughout the store. Someone who usually works in the jewelry department might not be as much of an expert on SLGs, for example, but it is nice to have someone you can work with consistently.
Yup! Since late last year, you are allowed to work with the same SA across all departments (which in my opinion, makes building a relationship easier)

Totally agree- I'm able to walk the store with my SA and she has learned my tastes across departments that way, so she keeps an eye out for things I might like. That change, along with individual SAs getting their own email addresses, has made it so much easier to build and maintain a relationship.

I think there are already several threads on 'how to buy a birkin'. If you do a search, you should easily be able to find it. If you are not interested in anything else from the Hermes boutiques, for example their beautiful silks (scarves, shawls etc), jewelry, shoes, rtw...it actually may be better to get your dream bag from a reseller. The boutiques get such a very limited number of birkins and kellys that they reserve these for their regular clients who visit their stores regularly and appreciate and purchase many other product lines...not just b/k bags. Good luck!

My aunt loves H's scarves, yet they would not sell them to her. This is the H store in San Francisco, CA. My cousin is the one so far doing the purchases. I plan the visit my cousins this summer and will stop by the H store. Will see if I could buy anything from them :smile1:

Having made my comment above a few months ago? I think it might be easier these days to score bags...even b/ks...inventory at stores seem be very good these days. You might get lucky!! Good luck!

Why wouldn't the store let your aunt buy a scarf? That doesn't make sense.... It's not one of the it bags (Kelly, Birkin) that requires a "waiting list"

No idea, it was just rude. She is in the sixty and always dress very casual. It was because of her dressing attire? and not a good English speaker?

I honestly don't think sales associates necessarily treat people poorly due to their attire because they want to make a sale. But that is unfortunate that no one would wait on her. Just doesn't seem to make sense to me, especially if someone wants to buy a scarf :(

Oh this is incredibly great news ! My SA sent me off to different SA for each floor before this is a welcoming change

This is good news. I want to try to establish a relationship with one SA. That way they will recognize me and keep an eye out for things that I like. Also, I hope to be able to get a Birkin from that SA. If I kept switching SAs, then it would be difficult to build a relationship.

I always have exceptional experiences at FSH and Sevres in Paris. Truly the way one wants to feel while shopping.
However, my first experience in NYC at Madison was not so great. I simply wanted to have one of my CDC bracelets spa'd. The guy upstairs told me to go downstairs to the help desk or to the cashier and anyone could assist me.

Downstairs, there was nobody at the help desk, so I stood in line at the cashier's desk. The cashier (dismissive older female) was busy finishing a $13K transaction and made every effort NOT to make any eye contact with me or acknowledge me at all. It was annoying, but I understood that she was assisting someone else, so I walked around admiring a 40cm matte croc B (among other treasures) for another 15 minutes before returning to the line.

When she finally finished her transaction, she asked me if I was waiting for something or someone in a VERY nasty tone. She acted as if I had bothered her by waiting in line. I told her why I was there and she then barked out that I needed to be in the other line at the repair desk and stormed off into a back room.

At the repair desk there was a totally different vibe. The young lady working there was extremely polite and immediately helpful. I even met the SM and had my issue resolved within minutes. It was superb. I really don't know what was wrong with the cashier, but she was extremely dismissive and unprofessional. I actually felt sorry for her.

Badly deprived the night before poor cashier
Your unlucky day lol

I just had an exceptional experience at the H store on Rodeo Drive. We were leaving LA, heading back up the coast and I asked my husband to drop me off and circle around while I ran in the get an extra hole punched in my H belt, which I've been needing to do for a while. I was approached and welcomed by several smiling SAs. I told them what I needed and a gentlemen SA said he'd take care of it and immediately took it away. It was ready within 5 minutes. To be honest I expected the opposite from this location but it had been one of the best stores I've been in. Hermes Chicago would rank #2 for me.

Sorry to hear about your experience! I do find that there's always an incredibly long wait to get help whenever I'm at Madison...and some SAs tend to be not very helpful (many times I walk in and don't even get a "hello may i help you")..

Went to the Madison Ave store today and got the BEST service! I've been there a few times before and the service was not that great. But today I had a great convo with one of the SAs there and it was a very pleasant experience! I got his info card so that I can shop from him in the future.
