Hi Lejic,

I went to the H shop yesterday. When I walked in, the newbie SA talked to me, and I asked her how does my profile look like now? She went in and checked, and said you haven't come to the store for a long time, I was so mad after hearing that, and said to her "I'm not working in the store, I don't have to come everyday, and I'm here just for shopping, can I talk to the store manager?"

The SM and the newbie SA went to the back and talked for awhile, the SM came out and said: "There is no guaranteed on how much you spend to get a B/K, but she can get another SA to help me out!"

Then she introduced me to another new SA, and I talked to the new SA, she's still on probation, and she said she can't apply for a B/K during her probation, I will be on top of her list for the B after probation if I could buy something from her today. So I made another 4k purchase from her. What do you gals think? I feel very frustrated by getting a B/K, I don't enjoy buying at H anymore, the experience made me feel so upset.

I'm so sorry this happen. I wish you lived somewhere with more H locations. I wouldn't frequent this store as they don't deserve your business. Is there any other H you could shop in or a city you visit often that has an H store? I don't like the ... If ... Then scenario you are being presented with at this store. The SM should have comforted and reassured you. Is this the culture of the store or these individuals? Maybe you should go in, browse, observe, chat w all the SA until you click with someone if this is your only option because buying a B should be fun. They are stealing your joy.

Wow I'm surprised that all these SAs are so straight about spending more many for acquiring a B / K.

This is sooo frustrating, especially since you've already spent enough $$ to this store.

If buying is not a pleasure anymore maybe consider a reseller??

Maybe you can go another day and try another SA without being so straight about wanting a B/K? Maybe there are other sweet SAs there...

Hope you find a solution soon...

nanapig i am so sorry to hear this, i would be very upset as well. this is just ridiculous. i think at this point if there is something you want from H apart from B/K, then buy it at your own free will, but do not buy things just to meet the "quota"... with the amount you would have ended up spending at the store, for stuff you don't want or love, you could buy a B/K from a reseller with the exact specifications as you desire (color, size, HW, etc).

also as sarah_sarah mentioned, do you have another store locally that you can shop at?

This store is hopeless

Sm is atrocious
Sa all crap
All rubbish attitude

Who is demanding for bag
You're only enquiring your progress
Go somewhere else that deserve your money
+100000000000000000000
Totally ridiculous! I would only buy what you want and love. I would rather pay a bit more from a reseller than spend a ton of money on things I don't want just to get a bag, maybe! In the end, you would probably spend less going the reseller route. I am so sorry that this happened to you.

I'm going to brave the San Francisco store couple weeks to inquire about a new Birkin bag. After scouting out all the vintage and resale sites online to find my perfect Bag, I think it's probably easier to try to buy a new one in excellent condition vs saving a few thousand and being disappointed when it arrives. Any thoughts from the seasoned Hermes aficionados on buying new vs vintage?

If you wouldn't mind doing a search, this thread is just for specific stories of dealing with the stores, and there are many threads on the topic of buying used vs. new. Thanks for your understanding.

Visited the Manhasset store before Thanksgiving, and I was very interested to see what their inventory and service would be like. My only experience with a franchise store was in Nice, and their stock and service was very hit or miss. Manhasset had the friendliest SA's out of all the H stores I've ever visited- they were very unpretentious and warm. The store was fairly busy, but I was still greeted by 2 blonde SA's. Most of the customers seemed to be non-English speaking tourists, which I found interesting because I can't say LI is an international destination lol. Most of the customers were carrying B's.

I tried on a watch that I had been eyeing online, and the SA was very nice and encouraged me to come back when their store relocates to their expanded space on December 3. Said they'll have more items on display, but they're always willing to ship something in for me to try on. She wasn't pushy at all, and although I love the watch, I want to keep my options open.

In terms of bags, I didn't dare ask for a B or K, but the display case had 3 Lindy's, 2 toolboxes, and some other lovely bags- more than I'd expect. The men's wallet selection was also better than I've seen elsewhere. For reference, I wasn't dressed any nicer than when I visit any other H- long burberry coat, Barenia K, leather booties, and skinny jeans.

I recently visited a newer flagship boutique. Though the boutique was quite pretty, I was shocked how poorly the shawls were folded and stored. They were practically thrown in the drawer and all three of the shawls I viewed had multiple runs in them. I couldn't help but feel badly for the damaged beauties! The newer SA helping me seemed rather embarrassed. We all were greeted nicely, by the SA's, though the SM was rather distant and cool in her demeanor. For such a pretty store, I was surprised how poorly some of the items were treated! I noticed many of the SA's working on the holiday weekend were newer and could definitely use more training about the products, but they were quite charming.

Begijnhof in Amsterdam - first time going to an Hermes boutique. I was very determined to get an H bracelet. Only 2 SA working, waited till their done with other customers. When 1 SA was free, I thought she was ready to assist me, but NO, she went straight to the other lady that just came in and also looking at H bracelets. SA just went on helping the other customer. And acted as she didn't even see me. invisible. not even smile or eye contact to recognize that I was there. I tried again, I went to her, inquire about sizes, and colors. But I can just see in her face that she was not interested in helping me at all. didn't even ask if I want to try. I saw how she helped the other lady, and how different her treatment was. so I left, I felt so sad and disappointed, and embarrassed that I even tried to go inside the boutique. I just said to myself I'm going to try Hermes in Paris instead since we'll be there few weeks after. Didn't get the chance to go as it was not on my must do list anymore because of the experience. Instead went to Louis Vuitton and Chanel rue Cambon to shop. Btw, Chanel rue Cambon has the best luxury costumer service by far. Last year and this years experience were awesome.

How sad, such a shame you had such a poor H experience. Mine are always good in the UK.

I was reading this thread and somebody mentioned going to Hermes San Francisco. I went there the other day with my mom. It was crowded but an SA immediately approached to help me. I was hoping to get a GP or a Victoria in etoupe or gold because I know for sure I won't be able to score a birkin or a kelly without any buying history. So she asked me what I wanted and I opportunistically but politely said if they have any birkin available. She asked me if I have an relationship with that store and i said it was my first time there. Then she nicely told me I cannot buy one without any previous history there. She went on to great lengths of telling me how it works, that you have to get other items before being offered a birkin or a kelly. So I sighed but I knew it was going to be that way, so I instead asked for what I actually intended to get. After showing me about 3 Victorias and a GP (she only had the rose sakura in stock) I ended up empty handed because she didn't have the colors that I wanted.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience because the SA was really nice even if I ended up not buying anything.

Sorry you came away empty handed but glad your overall experience was a positive one.
I love H jewellery so it's easy to build up history over the months and years of building my collection and I'm sure 'the Kelly' will come eventually.

That is too bad. I had the opposite experience at Hooftstraat in Amsterdam. The SA who helped me was super helpful and patient when I wanted to see bracelets. I ended up getting some and as I was getting ready to pay, he asked if I wanted anything else like scarves or bags. Yes, he said bags - so I asked if they had a Kelly 32 retourne in orange. I came home with a cappucine Kelly.

I've always had good service at this store.

So I went in the Hermes store today to specifically purchase a Bastia and look at a couple of bracelets. When I asked to look at the Bastia she looked at me like I had 2 heads as if she had no clue what I was talking about. She in turn tried to sell me a card case. I finally pointed to the Bastia and said that's it. She was totally clueless. Ended up leaving without the Bastia and without even looking at the bracelets. Totally put off!
