Treatment in Hermes Stores

This is the most miserable store IMO. I popped into this store today with my new B in tow. While the SA greeted me with a smile, and "I like your bag", once I inquired about purchasing an item, she immediately quipped "Well who is your SA?" She started grilling me about where I got my B, what the circumstances were, and then proceeded to tell me it's "an old color". My mom was with me and thought she was very rude too. I'm done with the NJ stores. Neither of them seem to get any inventory.

Oh I'm sorry that's happened to you. Was she a younger brunette? I occasionally shop here and have found everyone including security to be pleasant but this SA who seems to always look mad or annoyed but not necessarily nasty.

Also, Short Hills always gets a lot of foot traffic by people completely uninterested in H but just want to ask the golden question (got any Birkins?) or try on their stuff without any legitimate interest in buying (and THEN ask the golden question). The above scenarios are not applicable to you because it is obvious that you're already a customer of H but you never know, especially on a weekend, how many times they have to deal with that.

I am not justifying the poor treatment you received but just wanted to provide a different perspective. [emoji3]

Yes, I think that was her. Her name is Anna. I do see what you mean. I suppose people are lured from Manhattan with 0% tax on clothes and shoes, however Riverside is right over the GWB, and I've never had a rude exchange.

Your right my apologies.

No worries! [emoji8]

Just my two cents and I don't like Manhasset in general so I think that I am safe!

Huh? No one was saying anything negative about Manhasset here...they are talking about Short Hills.

Actually I haven't heard anything negative about Manhasset in a long time. From my own personal experience - and quiet observations, walking around and "playing" while new customers and tourists come in - they are all hands on deck - no one gets ignored, they SAs will even leave me (it's fine) to go help someone new. When it gets crowded they'll pull someone up from the basement, heck I've seen the security guards help out, too!

Wow, the only US franchise. They are in the perfect location for Hermes.

I think a lot of it has to do with how entrenched they have become in the community - holding seasonal events and such, getting involved with local charities and events, having a very well-maintained, well-run and well-regarded boutique in a top location in a prestigious shopping locale - and the fact that the owner is very much in touch with her extremely loyal customer base. I will tell you that, visually, the way it is run is nearly indistinguishable from corporate, but the SAs are a noticeably more laid back and warm.

ETA: yes! I love my home boutique! [emoji177]

Also ... Different stores have varying inventories. Unreasonable to confine purchases to one boutique

It doesn't make any sence not to sell items to visitors unless the item is really rare and the SA knows their regular customer wishes to purchase. After all it should not matter to H as a company where I buy as long as customers are buying their goods.

With that being said. I recieved really good service at the BH store last Thursday. It was my first visit and I live in another country. Each floor I visited the SAs were quick to ask me if I needed assistance and they complimented my K28 in orange togo with Ghw. One SA asked me where I bought it since he had never seen that combo before.

I did see people with Birkins walking around BH but actually never saw any K so maybe they are rarer.

I did purchase something that is not available in my home store or the European online store. I did say to the SA I was looking in the US because it is not available in my home store.

BBC, meant Short Hills ~ my bad! Thanks for pointing that out. :hugs:

This is unbearable. Back when I still lived in the US, I shopped both in Boston and Madison stores, and they were basically both my home stores. Both of my SAs knew that and they still treated me very nicely, I can always get the items I wanted. I often bought one Birkin or Kelly from one store for my first half year's quota and got another one from the other store for the second half year. I guess it really depends on your SA. I never heard anyone saying "you should buy at your home store" or "you have a better chance of getting what you want" in the last several years of shopping in Hermes.

After collecting Hermes bags for about 10 years, I have encountered wonderful, warm SA's and also very aloof, snobbish SA's. I was in NYC once at Chanel and the SA there said his girlfriend was a SA at the Hermes Madison store and stated that they actually train their SA's to be aloof. This is where I have a conflict with the brand. Although, I love the history and quality of Hermes I feel that there is a discrimination within there stores that is so antiquated. My one friend who could clearly shop at Hermes refuses to based on shopping with me at different Hermes locations and watching how I have been treated even as a loyal customer. My problem is I do not have a local Hermes close to me and although I had a personal relationship with a SA in the Boston store it is now difficult since they cannot ship bags over the phone which has inadvertently made me go to the second hand market (exactly what Hermes wanted to avoid). Anyways, my point is there are wonderful Hermes locations and sales assistants and then there are the ones that are unfortunately giving the brand a bad name.

Hermes purposely trains their SAs to be aloof? That's kinda awful. I believe a SA should provide friendly and knowledgable customer service, whether you're a SA of $30 Gap jeans or $30,000 crocodile bags. I do agree with you there are plenty of wonderful locations where the SAs are great :)

I just want to share a positive experience at the Toronto boutique. I stopped by on a Friday and was greeted right away by a friendly SA, he showed me what I asked to see then a few more goodies that he thought I might be interested in. The payment was a bit rushed and my goodies weren't wrapped, but I believe he had a few more customers waiting to be served. Overall, it was a quick but pleasant experience.

Just wanted to share that about two months ago I had a lovely time at New Bond St Hermes boutique. It was my first time after the renovation and I was mostly interested in browsing and admiring the new space, but since it was pretty empty I decided to do some research. Ask about new colours, different leathers and fondle some bags in person :giggles: It was obvious I wasn't planning on buying anything, but still the SA was lovely, very patiently explaining everything and answering any questions I had. We talked for well over half an hour and only stopped because the boutique was getting busy. Lovely experience all around

I have been to the main flagship store in paris a few months ago, and the sales assistants did not seem very helpful and did not really want to help, tried evert day for a week for a bag, no luck . Last week I was in london store and the SA I spoke to was very helpful and kind and helped me with my purchases , I think it can be luck on the day with who you speak to. I have found it hard to always have the same SA if they are not in on the day I am in the store. Has anyone managed to get on the waiting list for a personalised bag in the london stores?

By personalized do you mean a custom designed bag or a special order?

Hi everyone,

My H SA left her job, and the new SA called me couple days ago, and told me she took over my account. I had purchased over 13k in 2015 and was waiting for a Birkin. But the new SA told me the past purchasing is not counting anymore since now she's taking over my account, and I have to build up my account again, OMG, what can I do? Any suggestions? Please help, million thanks.
