Treatment in Hermes Stores

I live approximately closer to SCP so this was where a started my Hermes purchase history. I really thought SCP in Orange County would be a great place to buy since the sales tax is 8% as opposed to Beverly Hills 9% sales tax.

SCP is a beautiful store but BH Hermes is three stories. The 3rd floor is dedicated to home goods. The second are the jewelry and watches, Women's RTW and on the opposite side of 2nd floor, there are the men's RTW and sparks. Most importantly, the second floor has huge selection men's and women's shoes. On the first floor, on quarter of the square consists of scarfs. All those drawers with scarfs on top are filled with scarfs. If you know what your looking for and have intent to buy, the SA will open all the drawers to find exactly what you want? If the one you want is not there, then they will find one for you and follow up with you once then have it. As you move away from scarves, you will encounter the belts section. This can take some type for folks new to buying belt kits-you pick the right belt buckle in gold/white gold and other color buckles. If you don't know your belt length, the SA will be happy to assist you on which belt length is necessary.
There are lots of boxes in the back of you are looking for belt in specific colors. Also a lot of belt kits may be sealed. But if you really want to buy the belt, he has been more than willing to show me every belt in the back
As you approach women's and men's wallets, everything drawer opens but you may be offered a partial collection of what they had. There are wallets in the back room on hold but also as an expired hold. So you may get surprised at how much you see with a little polite navigation so you can see everything you can buy including a shiny red crocodile Kelly klutzy with diamonds throughout. If interested in this item, it was in a grass case for 86k this month as opposed to one prior it was listed in the mid-90k.
People always want to find a Kelly wallet or birkin/kelly. Most often, you will find a Kelly wallet and several different Bearn laddies wallets

As for the most special glass case in the back of the, there are over 3x as many bags visible for anyone to purchase. But then you might see the bag you like, and not like the color or size. Ask anyway is other colors are available. Something might come out that surprises you.
During one casual spot in BH two months ago, I saw a black birkin on the shelf, and just paused because i wasn't ready to spend that much money. Since then I've asked my SA to add it to my wish list. I love working with SA who are so passionate about what they do while educating the buyer during this journey. I always seem to be in Hermes over 2 hours and each time I have a wonderful experience.

The SA are very respectful to customers. On my first trip to BH Hermes, I met my star Daniel on the first floor. He help me While selecting belts, then to scarfs, upstairs for shoes, and finally the small leather goods and handbags. Mixing many of the occasions together, I realized that he knows what I bought before. Once he knows was you are looking for, he is helpful to provide as much selection available in the entire store. Don't start the conversation with wanting to buy a birkin. Every SA does want to understand your style, along with how they could make this Hermes experience better than the past.

So I stopped by yesterday at the Houston Hermes boutique to pick up my Vert Anis PM Ulysses which I had to order online since the store didn't have it in that color and my SA told me that he can't get it from another store. Side note: I hate Hermes.com with a passion. After I paid for my order, they didn't email me to confirm anything. A week pasted and I called customer service and the first thing they said was, "Well, would you like us to cancel the order?" I was like no, I just need to know why my item has been processing for over a week. To which they replied that they don't have the item and is trying to get it. Why did they list something that they don't have? Then when the item was shipped, there was no tracking number given. My god, I've gotten better service buying $50 shoes from DSW.com.

I digress. So I went to the store to pick up my notebook & refills and the man who greeted me was friendly and went to get my order. My SA was with a client, but saw me in the store and told me he'll be right with me after he is through. No rush since I was happily browsing the store on my own. When I got my notebook, I was underwhelmed. The leather looked ashy and it felt dry to the the touch like sandpaper. I asked if that was normal, to which my SA explained that like our skin, the leather need moisturizer since it's been stored in dry tissue paper. OK. So I took his word for it and didn't think much about it.

Then I went to look at leather samples and my SA told me what would be coming in soon, birkin wise. No Gris T 25cm in the near future, but he did have a garden party in Gris T. that he can show me. So I looked at that and compared it to the etoupe. I thought Gris T. would look more gray but in under the store's lighting, it looked like a light tan muddy color. I took it near a window and it looked a bit like reddish brown mud. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I wanted a light neutral gray. I then looked at Gris Perle which is white with a blueish chalky cast. I didn't like it either. They have a gray coming in soon but is was a greenish gray. At this point, I was feeling disappointed and overwhelmed at the same time. After feeling the desert dry sandpaper Ulysses notebook then seeing my dream color looking so reddish and murky, I started to question whether it was even worth it to invest in a Birkin. Was it just a over-hyped bag? In my mind, I was sure I wanted that 25cm, which my SA has been pushing his manager to order for me. But on this day, both my SA and sister were telling me that it'll be too small. It's a little girl bag. I don't know, I just started questioning every decision. Finally, I decided Gris. T. 30cm togo Birkin PHW. At this point, I was told that it'll be roughly a 2 year wait. If I wanted the green-gray Birkin, that would come soon, but not Gris T. If I wanted Gris T. in 25cm, it might not happen because they aren't sure they color is available in such a small bag. If I want the Gris T. 30cm but I want it now, I could buy their Garden Party TPM in that color.

So I didn't leave with a bag. However, I did want 2 shawl from them. One was the red/pink Scotland which is too new and the store haven't gotten it in. So I ended up getting the New Libris in white/cream which is a lovely neutral color. I really enjoy this stole although I am worried about the frayed edges.

Overall, another great day at Hermes. My SA was so kind and patient with me. At this point, I'm thinking of asking him to call me for a 30cm, any color just so I can check the size to make that it's not too big and we'll go from there.

Btw, I got home and started to look at the notebook more carefully because I couldn't understand why the leather was so dry. If I haven't gotten the notebook directly from the store, I would have sworn that it was fake from the plasticity rough feel. The date code looked like a O or Q in a squre box. So this notebook was not made recently. That could explain it. When I got close to look at the datecode. I started smelling a nasty skunk like odor coming from the leather. I don't know if this is normal, but I sprayed Flowerbomb on it before I used the notebook, because it reeked so bad. After I sprayed the notebook, I thought "well perfume usually dries thing out." so I sprayed suede protector on the inside of the notebook and put leather moisturizer on the outside. It gave the leather a bit more life but it wasn't plumped that the leather on bags that I've seen. Oh well, I probably destroyed that notebook with all my self conditioning so at this point, like Rett Butler, I no longer give a damn.

Sorry - I'm not sure what this really has to do with the subject of this thread. There is a thread concerning leather with the skunk issue but spraying any leather with perfume us a curious thing to do and may negate the possibility of a return.

The skunk leather thread is here:

That was my experience that the store. My SA was really patient with me, helping me select the best option for my Birkin because is an expensive bag. Once it's done, it's done so he wanted me to see different leather and colors before I confirm things. He could have given me a generic answer to things, but he gave me a logical timeframe for each color and size option so I could make a decision. I'm really glad that he was straight forward with me.

And yes, spraying anything on their leather would be it non refundable. But once I walked out of the store with an item, especially from Hermes, there really is no returning. Hahaha. I was fine with the dryness of the leather when I was in the store because I thought I could condition it. The odor though was a huge surprise. Because the notebook was such a minor purchase, I didn't even check it other then opening the box and holding it for a minute or two. And of course, I never thought to smell it while I was in the store.

Great; now that you know the appropriate thread feel free to contribute to it as your previous thread was more about leather color and choice.

I just got a Togo 30 Gris T from SCP Hermes. They are coming. It doesn't sound like the best trip to Hermes for you. Glad the staff was so good.

Congrats on your Birkin! :) I've never seen one in that color in real life. Please do a reveal if you haven't already done so. I would love to see it! :D

Yes, my SA is a pretty special guy. He genuinely loves customer service.:love:

Thank you. I have had great customer service at SCP Hermes over the last few years.

Agreed! Been shopping at SCP since 2008 and while the service was spotty in the beginning, over the last couple years they've really improved. Christopher is my SA and Thomas is great as well (I remember him from Vegas!)

Thomas is my SA and I adore him. I agree that the service even a few years ago was not the best. It has greatly improved so much over the past few years.

4 years ago when I start exploring H world, the service at SCP was not that good. But in the past 2 years or so, they've been consistently very good. [emoji106][emoji106]

Although I've always received good service at SCP, I've noticed they've really stepped up the friendliness factor when they gushed over a customer's children, which I thought was sweet. Also, the service at my local store can be hit or miss and is actually infamous for its coldness, but everyone is much more welcoming and friendly when the manager is there. So maybe Hermes is working on customer service?
