Treatment in Hermes Stores

I had the most "Paris-like" experience in the Madison Avenue store today. I apologize in advance to regular Madison Avenue clients as perhaps this is not as unusual as I think but I visit Madison somewhat frequently and have never seen people being told to come back at a certain time "as we might have a shipment" or been there when the shipment arrived to a frenzy similar to FSH. The one thing that was unlike Paris is that all the SAs were lovely and it was more like a party celebrating the shipment than a bunch of aloof SAs turning customer request down and pretending that the shipment did not exist. I went home with a Kelly and a big smile.

+ 1 (see bold) :smile1:

I want to shop with you, LOL!

Everyone has an accent. Imagine if you were trying to speak a second language when English is your native tongue. You would speak that language with an accent.

I agree with the posters who say it is not right to refer to someone's nationality. It is stereotyping in its most benign form and racial profiling - even racism - in a more insidious form.

There are certainly SAs who are really unpleasant to deal with. Whether you walk out of the store or straighten out the rude SA or otherwise, all options are fine. Life is too way short to engage in negative experiences, especially when it comes to shopping. Do what suits you best. And remember there is another thread which discusses nice SAs around the world ...

Wow, congratulations. I am very happy for you, and jealous too. :) Had you asked for a Kelly beforehand?

You must now do a reveal.

So you were in the store earlier and they said "we are getting a shipment at X time." I bet you were excited. I would not have left that store!!!

Thanks beekmanhill. I was not actually told to come back, I overheard one of the SAs telling someone else to stop back around 3 pm. I did not ask for the Kelly...it was a very odd and wonderful surprise. I have been in the store several times over the past few months and have had good luck each time. I have had SAs offer CDCs or call me when something I mentioned of interest came in.....things have changed dramatically from the past few years.:smile1:

I stop in there a lot, mainly for scarves and fragrance. I love Hermes fragrance and its my gift of choice for other people. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open! And hang around on the handbag floor (I feel self conscious there). A Kelly, what a GET!!!

Congratulations for you! I was at Madison store today and also left with a big smile and a Birkin.

To anyone who is interested, I was there a couple of weeks ago and asked for an Evelyn in red or blue and bought a beautiful turquoise. Then I asked for kelly cut or kelly pochette, but he SA said there were none.

This week I came back to see her again and she said they still haven't anything, but asked me to come back today at 1pm since they would receive a new shipment. When she saw me today, she said I was my lucky day and because they had received quite a few birkins and kellys, but no clutches. I then asked for birkin 30 and told the colours I already have and she came back with this amazing brule togo B with GHW. She said they also had turquoise (but I'd just bought an Evelyn in this colour, so passed away) and orange (I already have B35 in this colour). So of course I said yes to the brown, which came home with me. Couldn't be happier!

This is such a happy story, certainly gives me hope :). I wonder if they'll relax the rule of 1 b or k every 6 months. To be offered sth without being on a waitlist is already big improvement I guess. Congrats hermesaddicted!

I'd just like to add that I'm not a big spender or milionaire, dress very casually and have always been treated very very nice at Madison.

Two years, while in vacation, algo I also managed to buy a Kelly there as a walk in (in menthe, which was my first kelly and still is my preferred and most special bag).

Last week, I went to know Wall Street store and also had amazing service there. Although I only bought two scarf rings, while I was paying the SA asked if there was any special bag I was interested in and, after a I gave him the specifications, he told me that defitively he'd get it and give me a call.

Just after that, my sister and her husband came in and bought two belt kits with another SA and she offered them a Kelly right away.

It was our first time at that store.

Lucky people who live here in NY. So great stories, service and inventory.

Congrats to you too. Where was I today at 1PM? Not at Madison. Wonderful luck for you. So exciting.

Went to Central, Hong Kong store and was greeted by a SA named Kenny. Super rude and was very reluctant to answer all of my questions. I just asked some normal questions like do you have XXXX scarf and how much is it and so on...

Worst I've ever experienced....

That is inexcusable. Sorry for your bad treatment. Over a scarf?????

Yep. I told to him that I planned to buy a scarf for gift for a lady in 30's (my mentor). Obviously he had no intention to close the deal casue he didn't ask me the normal types of questions: which size are you looking for?70 or 90? Which material? silk or silk/cotten or silk/jersey? Do you know which color does that lady prefer?.....He just showed me some scarfs randomly and locked them back into the counter quickly then.....

I mean WTF?????? Why do they hire a such unprofessional guy like this?

BTW I was dressing appropriately today...decent enough to walk in....

Doesn't matter how you were dressed. Its a store that sells products. Rudeness is inexcusable at any time. I don't get this....

Soooooooooooo horrible like a nightmare lol. I worked as trainee in Cartier @ Richemont group a few years ago and participated some mysterious shopper tests...If I were the mysterious shopper today, this SA would be probably get 0...In Piaget (another brand from Richemont group), SAs would get fired if he/she fail in the mysterious shopper test.

I mean if he is unwilling to sell a scarf for me, it's OK, cause I don't want to buy anything for him...But please, just don't show it on your face or in your tone you're speaking....

I once paid a birkin 60% in cash and 40% on card, the SA and cashier were fine. I told the SA beforehand that I would pay a lot of cash.

I think some Hermes SA act really agitatedly when someone asks them about B and K.

I heard a "horror story" from an SA years ago about a man who paid for a bag IN COINS!!!! Can you imagine?
That, they frown upon. Otherwise, I don't think they really care.
