Treatment in Hermes Stores

SA at store B said that since store A issued the store credit I have to buy B/K at the original store. But SA said I could buy anything that's not B/K at store B using my store credit. So pissed! SA also said that if I wanted to use my store credit I should go back to original store and work w them to get B/K.

If I wanted the B/K they will offer me, my friend who I'm traveling w has to pay for it. Ridiculous.

I know it's annoying but it's not ridiculous from the stores perspective. If you use your store credit to buy a B/K, the amount does NOT count as their revenue and they have to sell you a highly coveted item. I am not saying is right, but just a different perspective where the store comes from.

Totally agree..why should a store sell any of these items to a walk in, when even the regulars have been waiting ages for these bags?
I think that's different. A store can not SHOW you a B/K - that's their wonderful "discretion"....but method of payment should not be negotiable. They have to pay more for Amex than Visa but they still accept it on an exotic B :smile1:

I have never used a credit note at a different store. My understanding is credit note, once issued, can ONLY be counted as revenue from the store it was originally issued. If you buy something from another store, the other store do not get anything on their account. It counts nothing to them, nada, zero. While on top of it, you want to buy a highly coveted item such as B or K with it. It's almost like the store has a -$xxxxx amount in their revenue. That's where the store was coming from.

It would make sense if individual stores were reimbursed by Hermès centrally when they accept a credit of some kind. (I assume that this also means that when a credit is issued to a customer, the amount has to be transferred to Hermès centrally. It's all book keeping anyway. ;))

It is indeed! Unfortunately H do not do well in the IT department and they can't link store accounts directly like that.

Thank you so much to all of you that reply to my question/concern. I would never know on how this issue from the store perspective. It does make sense but unfortunate for us as a client.
Thanks again for sharing ...I always learning something new from TPFer ❤️

I know there have been a lot of negative comments about how poor service is in Hermes stores. In the past I've always bought on line. I decided with much apprehension after reading some of the horror stories on this thread to go to the flagship store in Toronto for the first time last month. I wasn't really dressed up - wearing jeans but with a nice coat and a Hermes cashmere shawl. Anyways I was pleasantly surprised, associates said hello to me, I was offered to be shown a bollide, but I was just looking and not really interested in buying anything. But that initial experience gave me more courage so I went back yesterday. Again I was greeted by a couple of associates who weren't busy but I did have to ask for help, But the associate was who helped me was very nice and friendly and I ended up walking out with a new shawl and 90 scarf from the spring collection. So it can happen!

You must understand that it's not every Hermes store that has this problem. If anything, most of the time Hermes SAs are quite nice. Just because you hear negative comments on this site doesn't mean the majority of H boutiques are like what you hear. There are a lot of factors that I think play apart of negativity in SOME H boutiques. Having said that, there should be no fear in going into an H boutique regardless, remember we are the customer, we have the money to afford H pieces and thus we should be respected and if we are not ask for the store manager. Also checkout the section on "great SAs around the world" (I believe that's the section) and you will see that not everything is negative.

From reading so many posts, I see a lot of customers immediately walk in asking for a Birkin or Kelly bag. They don't say it in this thread, but they infer it in other threads. I think in a lot of cases, there are two to blame concerning poor treatment.
