It's interesting because yes, I fit into the "lifestyle of H" category in the sense that DH and I bought silverware and china before leathers. And it makes sense to me, because if they want to try to weed out the people who just want the coveted bags but don't care about anything else and won't spend $$$ in other departments, then I guess that's one way to do it. And it's a way to try to weed out resellers.

My FSH home goods SA actually used to work in leathers so he was able to offer me bags (after I had purchased china from a less experienced SA). I never asked him if he moved to home goods voluntarily, but it would make sense if they transfer him over in hopes that his regular clients who buy leathers will also then buy home items. For me, it was the other way around since I met him when he was technically no longer working for leathers. And no, I didn't spend a lot of money on china- we were just starting our collection so we bought like 2 place settings.

Since buying my china in the summer, I've been offered some nice bags (Barenia, guilloche hw, flamingo C) that are supposed to be quite hard to find. I don't know if it's because my SA is a doll, or if it's because I appear to "fit the lifestyle" although DH and I never wear expensive clothes and always look average at best lol.

It's funny because every time I've gone looking for a more normal bag (neutral color, togo/clemence/Epsom leather), I've been offered something "better."

I had called my SA a couple weeks before going to Paris and told him what I was looking for. When I saw him, he asked me again what I was looking for, and he thought I was looking for a C. I joked no, but it'd be nice to find one since they're even harder to get than B/K's. He offered me 2 that afternoon in addition to my B30 with guilloche hw lol.

thanks for sharing your experience
Did the SA check your purchase history/name on the computer before offering bags?
perhaps I should get some china before going to the bags line?? I am interests in getting H china too. I read they will ship to me. Do I need to pay shipping?

No the SA didn't check. I was introduced to my current SA by the less experienced SA I bought china from. The less experienced SA no longer works at H, but I still remain grateful to her for making the intro for me. I have continued purchasing home items in addition to leathers from my current SA.

Are you looking to buy china from Paris or in the states? I bought mine in Paris, and yes they ship, but yes you pay. In the states, I'm not sure if you would pay or not- I've had small items shipped and they don't charge for that.

Stopped by H boutique in Toronto today. Had not gone in since last summer since the SA I encountered last year was rather curt. Wasn't sure what kind of service I'd received today but I've been dying to find out if they have any 26 Toolbox or Kelly (one could only hope). Was helped by Shirley. She was very helpful. They had 2 33 Toolboxes on the shelves which would have been huge on me. I'd tried this on in Waikiki before. She went to check on the system and it showed one 26 Toolbox in the store but it was no where to be found. I also asked her about K bag but she didn't have any but said she'd sell me one if they have it although there are hundreds of customers that have been waiting for a long time. I expected this but she was helpful and sincere and left me with a much better impression of this H store.

Toronto is my hometown but I usually get my H items during my travels since I was never impressed with SAs here over the years. She took down my name and promised to call if any of these bags or spring scarves come in. I can now see myself stopping by more often and can see myself buying things from her.

Shirley is very sweet, and I use her when my normal SA is not in.

I plans to buy few things from Paris. China, boots, scarves and B/K bags. I want to take advance of VAT refund. But I also want to remain my relationship with my US SA.

I'm not having what I would call a bad time at H boutiques but that SA in Milan??
Other experiences:

San Francisco is a bit obnoxious. BH depends on whom you get, thank goodness Kim seems to be gone! Vegas Bellagio might as well write out the number you need to spend first and voila! the B or K will magically appear....they are blatant about it. Madison is a crapshoot....you never know - they can be awful or nice. Monte Carlo is hilarious as the boutique pays the dock to know who is coming from the boats. Singapore is also up to whom you get on the floor. South Coast Plaza in Cali will kiss your you know what if you are head to toe expensive, otherwise they are much worse than BH.

Odd. I've wasted a lot of SA's time unfolding and folding scarves, but everyone in SF (esp Antoinette) and all 3 Vegas stores (Jackie, Bellagio) have been very gracious. I buy very little, usually nothing, but still have gotten excellent service. One male SA in Encore refused to leave me (though I had made it clear I was only there to look for a 90 carre for my mother), to attend to a customer who was throwing a fit demanding a Birkin. He patiently rolled his eyes, smiled and kept unfurling scarves for me!

I agree about SF. I have never found them to be particularly nice or to go out of their way to help you find an item that is not sitting in a display case. I posted recently about a great experience with Brian in BH which had given me new hope for that store. There are several new sales associates at Madison, including William, who are very helpful. Of the longer term SAs, the only one who I have ever enjoyed working with is Lincoln.
