Wow! That is just unacceptable in my mind... This isn't supposed to be some two-bit operation.

When I had my vintage pendant extended, I got it in a new velvet box, and the manager arranged for it to be wrapped up again, with the paper bag etc.
My initial thought was maybe that's how they send items back to Paris? And because I wore my necklace out they didn't give me anything to carry it in vs if I wasn't going to wear it I can't imagine them just handing me a necklace... (I'm making excuses for them now lol) my friend dropped off her agate motif for shortening yesterday and she originally bought it in Paris so I'm gonna see if they give it to her in a pouch or ziplock bag treatment when she picks it up😂

My resized items always appear in ziplock bags.. if the SA makes more of an effort them they take it out onto the tray before bringing it out. And I always wear them out but I do wonder what packaging they would have offered if I didn't want to wear it out. I've also NEVER seen a travel pouch here (Singapore). In Japan I've been told by the SA they don't even get cleaning cloths or any "ancillary" things.

Hmm interesting then I wonder if it does vary by country? I’m in the US and got a cleaning cloth in my order from the boutique without asking and was told by my SA that I’d get my repair item back in a pouch (I’m still waiting for it to come back though so we’ll see)

I'm in the US also. When I had my bracelet sized, it was returned to me in a new travel pouch. The store received it back from repair and my SA went over it before packing it up to send me via overnight FedEx.

This is so strange, Van Cleef's experience really varies from person to person.

My friend bought her MOP Vintage Alhambra pendant from the boutique in ION Singapore, and I asked her how she got her extended pendant back, and she confirmed to me that it was:

"Packaged nicely. They wanted to give me another box but I said that’s silly so they gave me the velvet bag thing… and lots of chocolate and Perrier."

I'm presuming she meant the travel pouch.

Admittedly I've never asked to get a pouch after adjustment, I always just wear it out, but after every purchase from 2022-23 I asked for a travel pouch and the answer was always we don't have any, we don't know when we will get more in stock. (It was over a 1 year period) Maybe it finally came in stock?!

(And they do give lots of chocolate lol, which I've not seen in any other Asian country nor France, and another brand of water it's not Perrier - I presume she just means it as a general term for water?)

Apparently it was specifically Perrier... She wouldn't have said it otherwise.

My London boutique gives me chocs and Diet Coke every time I visit, so that's nice.

Update: I went in to pick up my resized necklace. Had a very weird experience - I made an appointment and came in. SA asked me for my service order number, then went back to retrieve my necklace.
A different person in the store asked me if I wanted anything while I was waiting for her (the store was completely empty), so I asked for a coffee. She was super nice and complimented my other jewelry/outfit and brought out chocolates with the coffee because “life is better with chocolates”
My SA came out with my necklace on the tray and asked me to sign the receipt. She just stared at me when I asked to try it on to see the new length first (my husband was there so he helped me put it on). I asked if i could get some sort of pouch to take it home (I had on a different necklace at the time) and at first she said no, because the necklace was brought in without any packaging. I asked again, explaining that I wasn’t wearing it out, and she said she would check if they had anything and eventually packed it up in a box (same as the box I got when I first bought the necklace). So long story short, no travel pouch haha

What an odd experience, why would you not expect to try it on and ensure everything is to your satisfaction in store ( instead of needing to come back if you realize once you're home that it still needs adjusting)?
This lack of proper packaging is just so ridiculous.

I just went and bought my second VCA piece. My first was a sweet bracelet, and I only got the hard box (I honestly didn’t even know to ask for travel pouch)… I went to pick up my second bracelet, which was the five motif ( I went better informed this time, knowing about travel pouches. Thanks to this forum), so I asked for one.

The sales associate told me either the hard box or a travel pouch. And I told her I’m sorry, but I’d like both due to the several ways I store my jewelry, depending on if I am home or traveling.

She didn’t make too much of a fuss and packaged everything up in the box as well as giving me a travel pouch : )

That's kinda weird... When I picked up my resized piece usually my sa doesn't ask for any receipt or ask me to sign anything and always insists I try it on and helps put it on me...

Experience may vary based on sa I guess...

I've only had my pieces serviced in the US boutique, each time my SA did ask me to sign an agreement paper at pick-up to confirm I'm happy with the end result.
