Tips or suggestions for cleaning diamonds

I haven't used the inside of the cloth which I think is the cleaner. I have only buffed and polished with the outer cloth after cleaning. I like my rings to sparkle and shine and I clean them several times a week.

I would avoid using the cloth on plated material, simply because you don't know what is IN the cloth and most of them will pull the plating off. Just use a lint free paper towel to dry it off gently.

Thank you!!! I have only used the cloth twice snd I don't see any damage so I'm hoping its ok! A regular paper towel like a bounty is ok to dry it with?

Apologies if I've already posted to this thread, but wanted to say that I've tried everything and my personal favorite is scalding hot water with a few drops of dishsoap (I'm partial to old school green Palmolive), soak, scrub gently with soft toothbrush, dry with paper towels and blast with a blowdryer. Repeat no less than once a week. :)

Ultrasonics are murder on micropave. The jewel jet is great, and I do also use that for a periodic deep clean, once a month or so.

Yea, I actually like the Target brand ones actually a lot better. The Bounty ones left linty bits behind.

i LOVE my jewel jet. I don't use my ultrasonic much, I really never did before. And I don't have micropave. I don't think it gets it any cleaner than a good soak and hand cleaning job does frankly.

I use the hottest water I can stand and mr clean if Im soaking or the hottest water I can stand with the sparkle sparkle spray I always drone on about. I tried some other stuff recently, purple stuff that was mentioned on PS...and Eh. I don't think it's any better, I like that it kept my bathroom mirror fog free though ;) I dry well with Target brand paper towels (lint free-er) and then a quick blast of the blowdrier on cool. IF I see spots I put some 91% alcohol on a paper towel and wipe over the stones.

Thank you! I don't have micropave but I do have channel set for both my engagement ring and anniversary wedding band. I have heard the ultrasonic can dislodge the diamonds in the channel setting so I never bought one. I do use the connoisseur sonic jewelry cleaner though bc I don't like the one with the dip tray. I want to be able to pour out the cleaner and add hot water. Do you put the blow dryer on the hottest setting or coolest to dry?

Thank you! I used to use tissues to dry but way too much lint was left behind and i want my new rings as shiny as I can get them. Do you think I caused any damage using the outer portion of the conoisseur's jewelry cloth? I'm so stupid!!! I should have realized these rings are partially plated and shouldn't be rubbed. I'm sick to my stomach now!!!!
Next time I'm in target I will look for a roll of these paper towels! Are they just target paper towels or do they say lint free, etc? Thanks so much!! :)

I don't think you did any damage to it. The rhodium is going to wear off naturally on it's own anyway with time and wear. It's easy to replace.

As for the paper towels: these are the ones I buy (crappy pic attached).

Anyone use Dawn dish washing detergent to clean their rings? I have this in the house!!!!
Yep, Dawn and hot water is fine.

I agree but I use "canned air"!

Thank you! Going to buy them this weekend, or sooner!
I do see surface scratches on the white gold/rhodium portion.....that's normal, right? My ring is one month old.....I feel so stupid about that cloth. I should have realized. UGHHHH

Yes! Dawn and warm water with a little light brushing is great for your rings.

Would you all say that Dawn or Palmolive are better than the Conoisseurs red jewelry cleaner? Now that I have been reading through some of these posts, I am concerned about ammonia with white gold/rhodium plating. I am using the Conoisseurs that goes into the sonic cleaners, but I am not using the sonic cleaner. I am pouring a little out into a cup, mixing with hot water, soaking my rings for 2 to 3 minutes, then brushing and rinsing. This method gets the diamonds REALLY sparkly and the white gold VERY bright. I am wondering if the Dawn or Palmolive would do better without the worrying about the rhodium.......all this is very new to me. Like I said, my rings are a month old and I NEVER owned white gold/rhodium plating rings before. I always had yellow gold which seems much easier to care for!!!! Help!!!
