The leather looks gorgeous and it's a pity it has those issues.

Regarding the way they measure their drops, Ignacio sent me this preview pic for my Emilia. It shows how they measure the drop. I actually thought that the drop was measured from the handle to the top edge of the bag when it is hanging on the shoulder. So the drop ended up being longer IRL than I expected.

^ It can't hurt to try and see, but if you find the issue does not straighten out w/ playing around, please don't be afraid to have them remake the bag.

 Thanks for the reaffirmation! ;) Yup, I think I'm definitely going to ask them to remake the bag. I'll upload pics later, but I was playing around with filling the bag up with my stuff, and the puckered piping is definitely still very uneven. Since that's how I'll be carrying the bag, I definitely don't want it to look that bad.

Hmmm...surprised at the response you got. But yes, I can understand with this very soft and pliable leather that it could be wonky looking and be okay. Hopefully, you get the reply you need.

I was surprised as well, because I thought with how uneven it looked, Maria would acknowledge that there was something off there. The thing is, with the front completely even and straight like that, it just looks really mismatched. I'm still waiting for her to get back to me on how to proceed with having the bag remade and all (probably won't hear back from her until Monday now, although I replied to her around 3pm in Uruguay on Friday afternoon), but hopefully the remade bag will be better.

I frankly am not surprised by the response you got. The communications have slipped imo. I am so freaking pissed right now at them I cant see straight so it is not just you they are screwing with.

Hopefully they fix your issue. I have given up at this point I think.

It definitely wasn't what I'd expected based on the previous experiences you ladies have relayed here. I was getting semi-PTSD flashbacks to dealing with another brand's atrocious CS, in fact, which pissed me off quite a bit initially. I'm so sorry that you've had so many problems of late as well, as you definitely deserve better.

I can understand being close to giving up, and it'll probably be awhile before I order the next Ignes, for me at least, until they get things sorted over there.

Oh, thanks for posting that pic! Yup, that definitely looks similar to how they might've measured mine, with the handle/strap being slack rather than taut (like it would be when it's hanging on the shoulder).

It's kind of weird that they'd measure the handle or strap drops that way, since how you and I measure the drop seems more intuitive. It's definitely frustrating because it leaves customers not knowing what to expect with default strap drops, or with the custom strap drops that they specify!

Yes, I think they should change the way to measure the drop. I think they do it this way because they measure it before attaching the strap, so it is difficult to hung the bag to measure before attaching the straps. BUt I agree they should think of another method, I had actaully suggested this to Maria some time ago, and she told me they will study this option.

Starkfan, you and I had a conversation about Gabi strap length a couple of weeks ago when I got my Gabi. I cannot imagine your frustration.

I ordered a 14" drop and that's what I got, from the 'point' of the strap to to the top of the bag, not the short straps. They do know how to measure, so I would not cut them slack (no pun intended). The SA ostrich is pretty soft and after a week of use it measures half an inch longer, which I think is acceptable stretch. It may be a tad shorter when worn because the depth of my shoulder takes up a bit more of the drop. And I am taller than you. I did the measurement off my briefcase strap so I would get the same shoulder size differential.

That outward buckle in the back of the bag is so not acceptable, especially when the piping measures different front and back. WTH? That's just a mistake by someone. My bag does not do that, and I only know the front from the back by where the knot on the handle is facing.

If it were me, I would keep it only if they offered some huge refund percentage, which may be worth it to them, but of course it must be to you. You have to ask yourself what you would have expected as a discount if you found this in a store, if you would have purchased it at all. Otherwise, you should not have to live with that kind of error.

With a tinted wine Chiara (with BOTH straps being adjusted) on order, now I am truly paranoid. And then the Emilia on order. I am beginning to think I was just lucky on my Gabi. I hope Ignes realizes that one error makes us all obsessive inspectors because publicity cuts both ways. I have dealt exclusively with Maria, but I don't know if that would have made a difference for you when the error was in the manufacture.

Do keep us informed.

Hi,starkfan, now back and on a better monitor, I have to say, your pictures are stunning and I love your reveal!! So thorough!! Love all the pics and angles.

Great idea to have the different straps. I don't think that's a big deal, just send it back to get the length right.

As for the piping, I wondered if elizat was on to something---maybe it could be smushed back into place or something. I'm sorry to hear that that is not do-able. As for Maria's response, I have only dealt with Ignacio and have not made the change over to her....so I don't know. It sounds like you are sending it back, correct? So, if they can fix it, I am sure they will, but otherwise you will get a new bag.

I'm sorry this happened. The bag looks fantastic, and I'm sure once you get it back, you will love it. I'm just sorry you will have to wait a little longer.

But hey, at least there weren't a bunch of holes in it!! ha ha, referring back to your mattie thread. I read that and it just kept getting worse and worse, holes and all kinds of weird things.

Keep us posted.

Oh, pinkshoulders, I'm sorry to hear you are worrying about your orders. Oh dear, it is totally understandable. But! I don't think you got lucky, I think you got the old Ignes that we know and love.

It's true, the purse forum brings them a lot of business and attention, but also any problem is amplified and makes us paranoid.

If I were in your shoes, I would personally write to them to reiterate the measurements and how things should be measured, but I think I tend to be a little more into emailing than others are!

Agree 100%. We are seeing more issues than we've ever really seen... at the same time as internal changes. Not an excuse by any means, just stating facts. Every issue gets a front seat too, so it can really worry people with spending money on something sight unseen.

I agree about contacting them about your measurements and how you get those numbers, just to be sure you are on the same page. It can only help and probably ease your mind a little bit.

Actually, after Maria confirmed that I wanted an Emilia in the new turquoise nappa, we went over all of the changes and details for both bags just last week. My worry is not in asking for what I want, but in the actual execution. Not that worrying helps anything but someone has to do it!

Hmm, that's definitely true that the way they measure the drop before they attach the strap/handle may differ with how it's actually measured once it's attached. What I'm puzzled about, though, is how and why my strap differs so much from the requested drop, when others have had results much closer to what they requested. Maria did say something about making changes to the way the strap drop is measured, though, so hopefully things will be more accurate!

Yup, I remember that! I was expecting something slightly similar to how your Gabby looked, since you're taller than me and I requested a drop slightly shorter than yours.

Hmm, that's really very strange how your strap drop was pretty much accurate too, much like greenpixie's. I can understand the strap eventually stretching a little with time (I think that's even normal, in fact!), especially with the presence of the knot on the strap (which I figured would tighten even more with the weight of the bag). I also double-checked that I'd be okay with my requested strap drop on an E/W bag like the Gabrielle by adjusting the strap of a messenger bag to have the same drop, too, and it's definitely significantly different from the shorter strap that I got.

I may have made an error with the measurement of the piping, as I didn't get that half-inch difference with subsequent attempts to measure it. There is definitely still a huge difference in how the front and back look, though, whether the bag is empty, fully stuffed with paper, or filled with my things. I'll post pics in a bit! It's really very uneven, and I wouldn't accept it even with a further discount, TBH. I think they're remaking the bag, though, so hopefully it won't have this problem!

Some of the other newbies have managed to get bags that had no problems, though! I'm hoping that the QC problems are still anomalies right now, and that they're something they can keep in check before it gets worse... I hope your Chiara turns out fine!!
