Hi,starkfan, now back and on a better monitor, I have to say, your pictures are stunning and I love your reveal!! So thorough!! Love all the pics and angles.

Great idea to have the different straps. I don't think that's a big deal, just send it back to get the length right.

As for the piping, I wondered if elizat was on to something---maybe it could be smushed back into place or something. I'm sorry to hear that that is not do-able. As for Maria's response, I have only dealt with Ignacio and have not made the change over to her....so I don't know. It sounds like you are sending it back, correct? So, if they can fix it, I am sure they will, but otherwise you will get a new bag.

I'm sorry this happened. The bag looks fantastic, and I'm sure once you get it back, you will love it. I'm just sorry you will have to wait a little longer.

But hey, at least there weren't a bunch of holes in it!! ha ha, referring back to your mattie thread. I read that and it just kept getting worse and worse, holes and all kinds of weird things.

Keep us posted.

Thank you, Euridice! I try my best. ;)

Yup, the strap isn't a huge deal, as that's definitely something I have no hesitation in sending back to have them fix.

As for the piping, I've tried smushing, but it tends to just pop back into the puckered/warped shape! The best way to "straighten" the piping was for me to empty the bag out, lay it on its front, then push the middle of the piping inwards, thereby also pushing the base inwards a little. The problem, though, is that once I stand the bag up again, the piping pops back into the same wonky shape. From what Maria says, it seems like they're remaking the bag rather than trying to fix this one. I'm really hoping that it won't have this problem again!!

LOL, it'd be quite disastrous if this bag had as many problems as my mattie... That one's really quite difficult to top!

Okay, as for the piping, I was playing around a little more, and here's what the pipings look like when the bag is stuffed with paper, completely empty, and filled with my daily stuff in it (crappy pics are crappy 'cuz I couldn't be bothered waiting to get better lighting! :p):

The biggest problem is definitely that the back piping still looks wonky when the bag is filled with my stuff. The front piping does pick up a bit of that "wave" when it's filled, but it's definitely still significantly different from the back.

As I've previously mentioned, I believe Ignes will be re-making my bag, so I'm really hoping that the piping won't be like this again!

The new pics don't look as extreme as the first ones, but the wonkiness is still there.

Soon you'll have your new bag and all will be well. So sorry this happened, especially given the issues with that other bag (I read your thread, too).

I am glad they are totally re-making it. Maybe they can give the old one to a person in need who wouldn't mind a free bag with a crazy-wonky piping situation?? I can't wait to see your new perfect bag, and with the correct length of strap!!!!

Hopefully this situation helped Ignes strengthen the way the bottom of the bag is done, since it seems it happens a bit in other gabys if not to the extreme yours did. Perhaps you unfortunately "took a hit" to ensure ultimately better Gabrielles for your fellow women out there!!!!

That piping is so weird. I am glad they are re-doing it and am sorry it happened to you. Crossing my fingers that the new one is okay. Have the confirmed they are redoing it and/or asked for you to send this one in?

With bags like this, w/ a piping defect, I wonder if they can't reuse the leather in some way in another bag? Recycling at its best, really...

Yes, I didn't mean to imply that poor people (or others in need) don't need perfect bags, but I think for free, this would be a lovely bag. I think for a women's shelter it would be great!

Yes, they're redoing it! In my last email from Maria, she mentioned that she's re-submitted my order to the production team, although I'm still waiting to hear back from her on returning my bag. (She apparently has a friend/colleague here, so I'll be passing my bag to her; I guess they're not waiting to receive it before they remake the bag?)

Oh, I think it would definitely be great if this were donated to a non-profit organisation! Hmm, I wonder what Ignes normally does with bags like this?

Wow. Not many companies would do that, remake before receiving. Very cool.

The returned bags often go up in the sample sale, but those are "don't like it" returns. Not sure about wonky piping returned bags :p Ignes does donate bags to nonprofits, so that's a feasible option, too.

^ It definitely is pretty cool of them to apparently start remaking it before they even have the current bag in hand. TBH, I'd want them to see the problem first, too, and see if they understand precisely why I'm not happy with how it currently looks. Having it in hand may also help them determine if something (say, the base) needs reinforcement or anything like that to prevent the piping from getting puckered again too. That said, I'm also impatient to get the bag without the wonky piping, so I'm definitely glad they're remaking it! ;) (Still awaiting return instructions! I guess I probably won't have that info until next week at least.)

Haha, yeah, it'll be interesting to see if this pops up in a future sample sale! ;) Otherwise, though, yeah, it'd be cool to see them donate it to a nonprofit.

Update: My bag's been remade and is on its way to me! :yahoo:

I have to say, I really am super-impressed with Ignes on this, and how they're so responsive to customer feedback in general. I requested pics showing the front and back of the bag, etc, to ensure that the piping was better-done this time around, and Maria obliged with sending me multiple sets of pics. After Labelgate '09 as well, they switched out the nameplate to the metal one again. (I'm not 100% certain, but I think they had used the leather one before all the feedback started coming in, and they switched it out after I specifically asked about my bag and its nameplate too.) I got the pics a couple of days ago, and it shipped out after I confirmed that they looked okay, so I think I should get it some time next week! (DHL doesn't give an estimated delivery date with their tracking, apparently.)

The piping definitely looks much better!

Yay for the metal nameplate! :p

(I'll probably post updated reveal pics in this thread too, BTW. Can't wait for it to arrive! :yahoo:)

Congrats starkfan! When I go home tonight I will check my mini ormala to see what nameplate I have. Can you believe it? I've received my bag for over 2 weeks and have carried it all last week, but I don't even know what nameplate was in my bag! Geez....

Tinted wine is such a beautiful color. I had originally expected it to be darker, but after I received mine, I just love how versatile it is, it practically goes with anything I wear.

Looks fabulous! I'm glad you're happy.

Tejava, same thing for me with the labels...lol. They matter to me but I didn't notice until it was mentioned. Go figure.
