I'm really hoping that the piping is fixable in this bag, because then I'd definitely have no hesitation at all to send it back to get it fixed. My qualm lies with the socially-responsible side to Ignes, and whether or not it's just a waste of an otherwise fantastic bag to make a completely new one. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

100% return it. I think Ignes is great, but that pipping is unacceptable. They can explain it however they want- but if the bags are not defective, then they should have no problem reselling them so they are not actually taking loses. If they are defective, then they need to figure out what is going on and fix it. The more people that speak up, the better because it puts them on notice.

I am not sure why some people are getting gorgeous bags and others are not. Maybe new hires?

^^ Thanks for the reaffirmation, guys. Hmm, yup, as customers, we definitely need to make sure that a company knows when the quality isn't up to snuff, and the best way is definitely not to make compromises for quality issues that are evident and unacceptable. Like other recent newbies to Ignes, I'm here in refuge from other brands with QC issues, so I definitely shouldn't just accept it either, even if they can't fix the piping on the bag that I currently have.

Still waiting to hear back from Maria, and hopefully she can get back to me by today, but I'm definitely going to send it back to either have them fix it on this current bag, or remake it (if it comes down to that). Plus, my shorter strap definitely still needs to be shortened!

Oh, and on that topic, I was checking around again, and rather weirdly, greenpixie's Gabrielle also has a 12-13" requested drop (I think I took that strap drop request from her bag, in fact!), yet the strap is clearly much shorter than my "short" strap. Another thing I noticed when measuring the strap drop again with the shorter strap is that Ignes could've possibly measured the drop vertically, but measured it as ending at the top of the handles, i.e. about 3" above the top of the bag itself, giving rise to the discrepancy with how I measure it. That way of measuring the strap drop doesn't make sense to me either, though, especially given greenpixie's Gabrielle... Maybe there have been new people...?

I think you are right it sending it back for that. I agree on the strap drop inconsistencies. My Gabrielle drop was about what I had hoped, but the drop on my mini O I ordered was at least an inch or two longer than I had anticipated. I just had a leather shop here shorten them, but because of the rolled handles it cost more than I expected. Looking back now I should have sent it back to be fixed by Ignes, but oh well.

Here is my modeling pic of my Gabrielle, 13" drop requested:

Oh, thanks for posting that pic again, greenpixie! I definitely remembered something like that, and that is certainly far more along the lines of what I was expecting.

Maria got back to me about the piping and the strap, and I'm still pondering. The response to the piping wasn't what I'd hoped for, but I'm still writing my response to her. Hrm. I definitely do not want to have to keep another bag that has a flaw that I can't keep overlooking...

What was Maria's response, if I may ask? Did she seem to think it looked fine or something? It's not right w/ that piping.

elizat, her first response on the piping was that "if on one side the leather “fell” it is due to the nature of the leather and not the construction of the bag. Therefore I am afraid that it’s not something they would be able to fix as they wouldn’t be able to change anything in the actual construction and be 100% sure this effect (which will also vary if the bag is more or less filled for instance) will disappear."

I replied to her asking if this has happened with previous Gabrielles made in the tinted wine or other tinted leathers, and she said that they've never heard complaints from customers about it, so she isn't sure if the problem has occurred before. I also made it clear in my reply that I found that the piping detracted sufficiently from the appearance of the bag that I'd return it if it couldn't be fixed, and she did say that they'd make me a new one. So, hopefully, the second attempt won't have any problems.

Has anyone with a Gabrielle ever noticed this problem, especially with the softer leathers like the tinted ones? I hope I'm not being too anally-retentive with having noticed this, but ironically, I think I didn't even notice this during the eyeballing-every-minute-detail part of my inspection, but only when I took a look at the whole bag again...

I would say it is present somewhat on my tinted chocolate Gabrielle (the piping is somewhat "wave-y" on the bag) but not quite so pronounced in one spot as yours. It is more evenly distrubuted so it looks less like a flaw and just part of the construction of the bag, KWIM? I fugured it was the nature of the leather and the construction of the bag.

Thanks for that info, greenpixie! Hmm, I may have to play around with checking out what the pipings look like when the bag is filled with my stuff, too, just to make sure it really is that pronounced all the time.

This leather is great, but you are rigth, the pipping is off. Try around, but if you are not ok with the bag and they have offered to redo it, well... The best thing is that Ignes always stands behind their products.

Hmmm...surprised at the response you got. But yes, I can understand with this very soft and pliable leather that it could be wonky looking and be okay. Hopefully, you get the reply you need.

I frankly am not surprised by the response you got. The communications have slipped imo. I am so freaking pissed right now at them I cant see straight so it is not just you they are screwing with.

Hopefully they fix your issue. I have given up at this point I think.
