Oh darn on the piping thing. Ugh...what is that? And the strap length, wonder if it's a conversion issue for the artisans? Perhaps? Just a thought as I can't do a thing with metric, which is the norm for the rest of the world.

I can't stop looking at your pictures, and I really feel you should send in the shorter strap to be shortened even further so you can carry the bag differently than a messenger style as with the longer strap. Honestly I am not a messenger bag kind of girl so that was the main reason I was hesitant about the Gabrielle style. I do love it's handheld feature with the braided handles though, so I might eventually get a mini gabrielle as a handheld bag.

If you like the mini size and red, there is a fantastic deal on Bonanzle on a brand new one. (Not my listing!)

Ok, were they drunk when they sewed the back? I mean, come on, the piping is totally screwed up. ugh. I am really losing my faith at this point. The communications have gotten worse instead of better. QC doesnt seem to have improved from what I can see. I mean no one could have looked at this bag and said ok, that looks good to ship.

It is gorgeous, and Ignes will make it right, but I hate that new people are not getting the great Ignes experience that made all of us fans. Heck, I am not even getting the great Ignes experience at this point.

Well, the leather is beautiful!

I have no clue what is going on w/ the piping on the back. Is it a stuffing issue- misshapen and could pop back somehow? I'm not sure what that is at all.

That is too bad about the strap length. Maybe they measure differently? I don't know. I think they might though. I remember that before my handle repair was done, the handles seemed longer than the 9.5 I asked for- I think they were an inch or two longer before the repair, but after were okay when I mentioned drop length again. They can re-do the straps relatively easy and quickly, I'd think.

I'm glad you like the design and the leather, but am sorry those two things aren't right. Do contact Maria for sure. I don't know what is going on with the piping at all in that spot. With the piping/puckering on the back, maybe she'll have a solution for you. Sounds nutty, but if just does need to be popped back in place for some reason from shipment, a heavy can like a tomato can might do the trick in that spot. I have done that w/ BE bags before when I wanted to break them in and pop out corners on the Stroke Me design. The bag is a really nice size for you though!

The bag was unstuffed in the pics I posted showing the puckered piping, but the piping is just the same when stuffed to the gills again -- straight and even on the front, puckered and wonky on the back. I tried approximately measuring the length of the piping too, and the bottom piping on the back is about half an inch longer than the front. I don't think it's just a problem with the bag being temporarily misshapen from shipping, unfortunately, but possibly with the leather for the back of the bag being cut slightly longer along the bottom length than the leather for the front of the bag.

Yup, I think they measure the strap drop when the bag is lain flat, rather than when it's hanging vertically. The former doesn't make much sense to me, TBH, since hanging it vertically by the strap at least mimics how the bag is actually carried. It definitely should be fixable without having to create a new strap, so I'm definitely sending the strap in to be fixed, at least! I've emailed Maria already, and am just waiting for a response.

I suspect it's a problem with the leather pieces for the front and back being cut unevenly, with the bottom length of the back piece longer than the front. I tried measuring the length of the bottom pipings, and the back one seems to be about half an inch longer than the front.

Haha, I'm actually in the metric part of the world, too! :p It's not as though tape measures in inches don't exist, though, hehe... I think it's more likely to do with how they measure the strap drop, which makes the actual measurement when carried quite off, it seems.

Yup, I'm definitely going to send in the shorter strap to be further shortened! I think they should be able to cut the strap down to size quite easily, without having to make a new strap, so I definitely have no problems with sending the shorter strap in to be corrected. With the shorter strap, it should've been less like a messenger and more like a shoulder bag, so that's why it's definitely annoying that the shorter strap isn't short enough, and that I now have two straps that are essentially messenger-style! (I'm not much of a handheld bag person, though the braided handles are very comfy, so the straps are definitely supposed to be my main method of carrying the bag.)

I'm really hoping that the piping is fixable in this bag, because then I'd definitely have no hesitation at all to send it back to get it fixed. My qualm lies with the socially-responsible side to Ignes, and whether or not it's just a waste of an otherwise fantastic bag to make a completely new one. What would you do if you were in my shoes?

It definitely seems unfortunate that the standards seem to be slipping and still aren't being completely corrected right now. Hopefully, for more of the new customers who hopped on during the sale, Ignes is taking a longer time with their bags in exchange for actually getting all of those bags right the first time. I'm definitely hoping they can make a faster turnaround in QC, especially for their loyal customers like you!
