It's not that I expected to be judged and respected because I had Chanel on me, but it's more like hey if I had money to buy Chanel wouldn't I be able to buy tiffany? So in turn, why would I be treated so terribly? But at the end of the day, neither of them got a sale from me. I don't go in there and judge them just because they are SAs. They are nobody to me, but to them I should be a somebody since they wants sales right?

Well in all honesty, when you mentioned that you were wearing Chanel items, that was basically an invitation for someone to judge you based on what you were wearing. Not in a negative way or anything, but it's almost like you expected to be respected based on certail apparel.
Not that what they did was right. Class and sophistication that Tiffany's upholds should shine through all Tiffany's SAs

Thanks ladies for all the positive feed back. Since that day I've learn to PICK my SAs that I want to buy from. Snobby SAs I ignore and find myself a nice one that says a Hello or a smile. I just don't go in there to spend my time looking at pieces but also spend time finding the right SA. Live and learn right?

Crap, the service industry is really sucking. So, I go to the store and check out an item. I dont care if they are rude because they arent getting a commission from me.... I go home and order online!

I really hate to say this but from my experience shopping for jewelry in NYC, Tiffany's has inconsistent service at best--especially compared to other high end jewelry boutiques a few blocks away on Madison Ave. I do like a number of their designs and have continued to shop at Tiffany's, but I go there expecting subpar customer service.

Recently I went to the LaLaounis boutique on Madison Ave to replace a cross I purchased in Athens and lost. While I was there the sales lady and her assistant were showing me tons of options including the one I had originally purchased. They were even suggesting designs that were CONSIDERABLY less expensive! They just felt the less expensive cross looked nice on me. Needless to say when I next plan on getting a bold piece of handmade gold jewelry I am returning to LaLaounis.

On the other hand, when I go to Tiffany's I scan the cases; find the pieces I like; demand service from someone nearby; and make my purchase. I just don't expect much from the SAs there.

I HAVE been surprised by the kind service of certain SAs at Tiffany's. But like I prefaced, my experience with the company in general is inconsistent in regards to service.

usually they are not too friendly
on the other hand I recently went to Toronto (on Bloor St.) Tiffany's to look at diamond earrings,SA name was Derek I guess and he was very helpful. Although I had my small diamond earrings ,designer bag and my mom had tiffany watch and full diamond ring. but my previous visit to Toronto Tiffany was also pleasant.

You know what irks me, the judgement, how you look equals how much you can spend, makes me sick...so if I wanted to be judgemental :p I would think of it this way...

She is a SA, therefore the only reason she can afford to buy whatever she is selling is due to staff discounts.

Perhaps some of these snobs need to be reminded, hey I don't need to work and you do! that's why I am on this side of the counter and you are serving me!!!!

That I'm sure would really hack her off!!!! Of course I would never say such a thing, I do need to work and there's nothing wrong with that!! I love my job and the fact it earns me enough to indulge myself!!

Take no notice, most SA that are plain rude are infact jealous, take your business elsewhere and make a complaint.

Have a lovely day!!!!!

I can totally understand your anger.. that would royally piss me off too!
The nerve!!!
Service like that, or lack of service... makes me turn and walk away. NO SALE!

 There are a lot of these bad SA threads around. They all need to learn manners. After all...if the owners of these stores were to find out they would lose their jobs. I am a Mystery Shopper and this is the exact thing we look for. All it takes is for one of us to make a bad report on them...bam...they are FIRED.
What ever happened to treating people as equals??

Please tell me! How can I become a mystery shopper?

Thanks:p

Update:

Today I went to Tiffany's to purchase a bracelet and the SA I worked with was very helpful. She understood what I was looking for and took me around the floor to find what would be perfect. I have to agree with the idea of getting the names of bad SAs and reporting their inappropriate behavior. In the future I will do that b/c there ARE good SA at Tiffany's and other similar stores. I do love the selection at Tiffany's and I refuse to stop shopping there b/c of a bad SA.

Good luck shopping out there!

Sorry this reply is sooo late but I totally know what you mean. I'm only 21 but have been visiting my future e-ring for years. I never hit the same SA twice so the story is always fresh "oh I'm shopping my bf, he wants me to pick it out...blah blah...". Point of my story is that if I'm ever in jeans/cargo shorts(i need the extra pockets to organize while shopping, lol) or in glasses with my curly/wavy/messy hair it takes forever to get service!!! The one time I actually went in there to buy something with my bf we looked like this because we were walking to the mall (saving the environment, lol) and we were a bit sweaty and we waited for 10 minutes with no service while two SAs happen to look the other way and not see us. We promptly told the manager and then walked out. Although I didn't get my beloved piece of jewelry at the time its just as well because a Tiffany & Co. experience should never be like that....

It shouldn't matter if you have a Chanel bag or a paper bag.

It shouldn't matter if you can't even afford to buy it and just window shop.

But.. unfornuately it does.. I get second glanced alot... because I am in jeans or whatever. I buy alot of things online. I don't think have the SA's deserve the commissions.
