Every purchase you make at LV is put under your name. (For example, I was chatting up my SA yesterday and he said, "Hey, did you buy an Emp. Artsy in NY?" Whoopsy, didn't think he's see that!!!
The company figures the total based on total purchases for the year, but I don't know if my Paris purchases are included.
The company NEVER reveals the amount one needs to spend to become a VIC. Why? I don't know.
However, I think getting "chummy" with your SA and SM is the fast track to VIP status... meaning the company may not think you are a VIC but it's the store who decides who gets invitations, special treatment, etc. I've seen people on this site pass on getting a bag because it was not made in France or be angry because the SA would not go through their entire inventory to find a MIF. I called my SA yesterday and said, "Does that really happen?" I mean I understand not wanting a display bag but come on, who cares where it was made? I can assure they are all of the same quality. My SA busted out laughing and said it happens all the time and it irrates the socks off them." I think being "relatively" low maintainence helps your store see you as a VIP as well.
Tomorrow we are going down for the full VIP treatment - which is hours in the store looking at all the merch they are holding to show me, getting my dog escorted into the mall (the mall does not allow dogs that walk on the floor, but LV sends an SA to meet me at the door), picking up Mon Monogram NF GM, having Champagne and hanging with my friends because my SA and the SM and I are friends. It's not why I'm friends with them but I think it secures my VIC status on a low buying year.
