Hey MaryBel!

Congrats on your upcoming vacation! These are the events that make lifelong, wonderful memories! For me the hardest part of vacation planning is deciding which handbag(s) I want to take. I joke with my friends that I audition my handbags. They have to show me why they deserve a vacation! LOL! No matter how much time I spend on deciding, I always get where I'm going and wish I'd brought "that other" bag, especially if I see someone carrying it. It by no means spoils the trip, in fact it gives me a reason to handbag shop on vacation. (Like I need one!)

The last time we were at Disney World it rained for half a day. Will the Coach crossbody bags be okay if it rains, or if they get wet on the water rides? Would it be better to take a coated cotton bag? The coated cotton may be a littler heavier than nylon, but lighter than leather.

Good luck with your decision!

I took a coated cotton crossbody when we went and she rode every ride with me. I didn't have an issues with staining or any issues at all and we got caught in the rain the very first day. I would recommend either the nylon or coated cotton for Disney

So it goes with everything. Neutral.

ah, makes sense. Or, if I endup taking one of the multi color coach CBs, then I will have to take outfits that are solids and that go with the bag.

Just try not to use one real deep. You want something that can sit beside you in a ride and you don't have to dig for what you need.

I agree. I did a test run yesterday. Took my son to the nickelodeon universe park yesterday for his b-day (it's the one inside the Mall of America) and took the little plaid coach CB, it was ok for the rides but it was kind of small. Worked ok for yesterday since I was just carrying my little wallet and phone, since we didn't need anything else (small indoors park), but I'm sure it won't work for DW.

Hey GF, I like the idea of the purse audition and how they have to prove they deserve the vacation.

I'm thinking the coach fabric CBs will be ok if they get wet, especially the multi color one since it seems to be similar to the newer nylon from dooney. Yesterday I took the plaid CB to the park at the mall of america and it got wet in the log chute (I don't know why I keep getting on those things if I don't like them, and we ended up doing it twice back to back since my son wanted to do it again) and it was ok, but it was small so that one is a no go.

I'm going to the coach outlet in a bit so I'll take a look at the coated cotton CBs they have. I think I only have one dooney coated CB, a letter carrier in the whimsy print with black trim, and those are kind of small. The weight is not an issue for me, so no worries with that.

If it's like the Dooney nylon it will be fine! A couple of years ago when my grandchildren were visiting, my DH and I took them to Pirate's Cove in Elk Grove Village. I carried the black nylon Editor's Tote which was big enough to double as a diaper bag. As luck would have it, it started raining a few hours into the trip. (Actually it was good luck because I was exhausted! I had forgotten how energetic toddlers are! LOL!) Anyway the nylon survived the rain very well, except it's not a zip top, and is probably too big for a day at Disney World.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON! :balloon: Wow! I remember wishing him a Happy Birthday last year. Has it been that long? I'm sure you're looking at your son growing up and asking the same thing. Sounds like he had a wonderful birthday!

Did you find a bag at the outlet?

Oh yeah, kids don't get tired, and in my son's case, he doesn't get scared either. We went to one rollercoaster and I though, wow, this is too strong for his age, especially because I remember how it was in the last rollercoaster he had ridden, and as soon as we got off, he wanted to do it again. I told him it was scary and his response was 'not scary for me!' And he and DH were in the first car. I was in the 2nd one :roflmfao:

Well, I have a medium nylon dooney, the Erica, so might look into that one as well.

Thanks, I will tell him. Yes, it seems the time flies (sometimes, not when I'm at work :p)

I got one of the ticking stripe totes in orange/pink and a legacy large duffle in camel, plus a floral wallet and a sea motif fob.

You are so right about that!:roflmfao:

I was at the Coach outlet in Aurora yesterday morning killing some time before I had lunch with my Cuz. I was doing a recon to see what may be available next week, when I go with my BFF. It was crowded at 10:30 a.m! I can't imagine what's it's going to be like this coming Saturday for the Memorial Day Sales, especially if it's a nice day.

Congrats on your purchases!

Why would that be silly? Are you going to Orlando or Anaheim? If Orlando, what parks?

There are a handful amount of water rides or rides where you'd encounter water, so I'd just make sure whatever you take, is waterproof.

Disney is overall a safe place wherever you go but if you are going to Orlando, I've heard that there is a lot of tourist crime but when I went, it seemed pretty safe overall.

Orlando and no water parks :) thank you so much for your reply.

If I remember correctly, there are some rides that would get you somewhat wet, even if it's not the water park.

I would take a bag that you wouldn't mind getting wet. I don't remember what's the policy on the size of the bag that you can take with you on rides though.

Yeah, it isn't a water park but one of my favorite rides is a water ride (Pirates of the Caribbean) even Indiana Jones, which is a roller coaster, I believe has some water. You won't really know it until you are on it. If you do animal kingdom, I think the animal tour also has some water so yeah, they like water :)
