I don't wish this on anyone. We heard that a member of DH's family (and her fiance) are being cared for due to dementia caused by alcoholism. We have been estranged from this person for years - heard it from her sister. We didn't even know they were heavy drinkers but I guess it's a thing.
Just as I was about to make myself a cocktail.
In Wendy and Bruce case, they both used Coke heavily as well.
Gosh, what a sad ending.

So the family was part of making the documentary. I’ve never heard of this niece before. Does anyone know if Wendy was ever actually close to her?

As always with Wendy, there is going to be more drama.

Now the guardian has filed a lawsuit against Lifetime. Guess she heard that the documentary leans hard pro-family, anti-guardianship.

No shocker there. At least it won't block the airing this weekend, supposedly.

Hi, yes I was an advid Wendy Watcher always taped her show so I could watch after dinner every night. Wendy always mentioned her niece and her being a journalist living in Miami. Wendy also said many times that she is close to her sisters daughter her niece. I can't help but feel bad for Wendy, her world was not easy to live in with her denying her husband cheating then the girlfriend had a baby then her mother died. No excuse for drinking and taking drugs but she is an addict. Everyone knows addiction is hard. I hope Wendy gets the help she needs. I don't want to wake up one morning and hear sad news that she has passed. I want her to get better.

She won't get any better sadly. Her condition is progressive and not curable. A tough diagnosis to hear for her family.

The timing of the hoopla is suspect, imo.
Alcohol is such a huge factor in many individuals sickness.
Wendy replaced her dependence on crack by booze. If only she could have received the mental health, she badly needed.
And if she had end up, with another mate. She might have had a better outcome.
There is a lesson here for all.:flowers:

I stumbled on it tonight and I could only watch for about 30 seconds before I had to change the channel. Wendy was in bed and not coherent. It was depressing and it felt uncomfortable seeing her like that. I know she agreed to do the documentary but it seems wrong.

that is why i will not watch it! just from the little clips i saw it looked so depressing and i don't like to watch vulnerable people like that. it feels so wrong.
